• Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... Frontal Collision Warning - Malfunction

Brain fart #2. Add a rounded plexiglass cover so the snow is less likely to stick. May not be workable and I’d need see if plexiglass has any adverse affect on the radar operations.
if the glass is not scratched - nothing. The radar used a laser or a dollar effect (I don't know exactly which one in telluride). for both, organic glass is not a hindrance.

Has anyone experienced any malfunctions with the 2020 Telluride in regards to the Frontal Collision Warning System? My husband and I have had multiple instances where the FCW system has engaged sporadically when not neccessary causing the brakes to lock and the vehicle to slide needlessly. When we took it to the dealer to be inspected they found no error code and stated that the FCW system was only supposed to engage when cruise control was in use. The instances these "sporadic malfunctions " occurred cruise control was NOT in use. We were told to monitor the situation and try to log when and if it reoccured, time of day etc...Any others having this problem?
Hi, I have experienced the same issue twice. I bought the car in October, 2020 and so far I've experienced the same malfunction that you have mentioned. I live in the middle east, Kuwait and its disappointing that KIA wouldn't bother focusing on a fix even though the Telluride has been around for over a year now. My experience was a nightmare. The car slammed the breaks in the middle of an express highway while the car was completely under my control and there wasn't a scenario of an imminent collision. In my understanding the software hasn't been tested well enough and their testing it out at our expense. At the moment there isn't any provision to completely deactivate/switch it off. The FCA reactivates every time you switch off the car and turn it back on again.
You should try emailing the Head of Telluride operations and perhaps he will take some action. stuart.countess@kmmgusa.com

Yes, I dealt with this for a few months. It progressively got worse and after 5 visits, they replaced the sensor. I had a technician ride with me and said it was frightening.
I am having an issue with my 2019 Kia Forte here in New Jersey. Sporadically the “ check forward collision avoidance system” message will appear along with the associated lights. I have been back to the dealer 5 times for this issue but the tech dept and special “ Kia engineer” find “ nothing wrong”. They DO see the codes in the history. They erase them and send me on my way. If there is “ nothing wrong” then WHY does this message keep appearing. This started a few weeks after I got thos car ( new). Car has a little more than 5 k miles on it. I am getti g extremely frustrated with Kia.
i have been having the same issue as well. .they need to replace the sensor. its a nightmare

i've had exact same issue.. i have the same model .. Its basically a malfunction and perhaps the sensor needs to be replaced.. the yellow light for the FCA goes on with the other warning light and periodically ull see the FCA warning show up on the speedometer display.
My Fcw light is on along with other warning signals. The auto hold and A with right arrow circle stays on as well. I haven't read anything about other people on this forum with my issue, only fcw issue. Did anybody else have the same problem or is it just me? Bought this car in august 2019 telluride sx prestge

When I test drove the Telluride, the LKA was going off like crazy! I knew my wife always complained about how much I let the car drift but I didn't think I was that sloppy. At least I never actually went off the road or into the other lane. I told her it was going to teach me to be a better driver, apparently.
I have become much more aware of staying totally in my lane - and how easy it is to drift out of it when looking at something to the left or right. My hubby drove my Telly and the LKA was going off like crazy and he asked how I could stand it. I said I don't have a problem because I stay in the lines. He pays attention now to "show" me he stays in the lines, too. Yep. I'm good with that.

The frontal collision warning light is on and won’t go off.
Make sure the lower front of the car is cleaned off - no mud, snow, ice, etc. If there's ANYTHING on the square radar sensor plate you'll get a warning. If not that, then may be time for a service call.

2020 Telluride just went haywire and my wife "almost died" as far as she's concerned.

Check forward collision avoidance assist (FCA) system notification (pg 5-66 in manual)
&
Check blind spot collision avoidance assist (BCA) system notification (pg 5-124)

Both notifications suddenly on & systems activating spontaneously as wife says car stopping suddenly and sliding out of control.

This is going to be a treat dealing with Kia & dealership. Stressed.

Cheers

The dealership actually had an accident with my car due to malfunction. They minimized damage over the phone and I went there to document. I realize the potentially lethal safety issue is not their fault, but why withhold information? We're waiting to hear from NCA? as case has been "escalated". Any info/advice/etc. would be greatly appreciated.

Having the same exact issue with my 2020 Palisade

I had my frontal collision checked and they said it was ok. It did NOT go off when someone ran right across the front of my Telly - thank goodness my reflexes are good. My light keeps coming on saying the frontal collision is inoperative - even though the car is clean and it's not raining/snowing. It did activate this week when a car in front of me stopped. I would freak if I was on the highway and it suddenly braked! Especially since I will be towing a travel trailer, and the last thing I need is a jack-knife situation or to have everything in the trailer violently jerked due to a hard brake.

This happened to me and my wife driving and different times it feels like the car slides to the right or left we have a 2020 ex that is 2 years old with 9800 mile this just started happening

He had a separate thread... and merged into this one. Check his post record.

I have the exact same issue. Will be on the highway and no cars around but as soon as the highway changes cement colors or the lines on the highway are newly painted. It goes off and breaks. It's honestly going to cause a wreck vs prevent one.

I kind of have the opposite issue. I don't think my front collision mitigation system works at all.

I've had instances where I had to break really hard to avoid a collision, and I don't think the system ever forced the breaks to automatically engage.

I'm having doubts of whether it works at all.

I bought a 2020 Kia Optima SE and this has happened to me at least 3 times. Almost got rear ended all 3 times. All very frightening. Currently my car is in the service department at the Kia Dealership. It has been there 2 months and apparently no one knows how to fix this issue.
It is very dangerous.

Yes, we have an FCA error all the time stating the FCA is off line. Radar blocked. The vehicle has not been in cruise control when this intermittent error message occurs. Luckily we haven't had any occurrences with the system locking up the brakes..
