I feel exactly the same way about the safety features. Had to turn several of them off. The Telluride otherwise, is a great car.In truth I need to read the manual. The dealership tech stated it was only supposed to function during cruise control. However, it should not lock and slide your brakes when you are in complete control of your vehicle and aware of your surroundings and there is at least 5 car links between you and the vehicle in front of you. AND it did not assist me when a car crossed completely into my lane and almost hit me head on. It was of no use whatsoever. It HAS engaged in stop and go traffic at our childrens school in the car rider line where they ask that we stay in close proximity to the car in front of us. The FCW system has become more of a danger than a help at this point. I LOVE, love, love my Telluride but I detest the technological "upgrades" like lane assist. I know how to drive. I turned the feature off the moment I learned it was going to wrestle the steering wheel from my hands in every curve.
This post just came in very handy. I kept trying to find out why my dashboard kept saying forward-collision avoidance assistant disabled. Turns out, we're in an ice storm and I believe the front radar may be blocked on my grill. Saved me lots of time trying to figure this one out. I have found more helpful hint on this form then I do from my dealer. Thanks for the information.FCW or Forward Collision Avoidance Assist-Pedestrian (FCA-Ped)? By the behavior you are describing the malfunction is with the FCA-P. FCW gives you what it says....just a tonal/display warning as a result of the FCA-Ped being triggered.
That being said, you cannot permanently turn it off. Once the engine is restarted it'll automatically turn back ON.
I believe the FCA-Ped works with the front RADAR. Do you have something covering the antenna? Perhaps a low mounted front license plate? Also, not a 100% sure, but FCA may also work in combination with the front camera (but I don't think so). Did you replace the windshield but didn't calibrate the camera?

Also, FCA-Ped automatically turns ON by default execpt when
1) going faster than 45/50 MPH (FCA-P/FCW respectively)
2) ESC is turned off
It has nothing to do with SCC.

Lane keeping assist is more of an annoyance than a help.....I also turned it off. That being said , I love the HDA Smart Cruise function....that really IS a help! It lets you decide and control without arguing, but if you take your hands off the wheel it will take control and maintain the lane position very nicely even on curves!
I love the lane assist. Im one of those sloppy drivers that creep slighter into another lane. also keeps tires off the white shoulder line where ive gotten many nails in the past.
I'm back in town....email me and I will reply with my phone #. ThanksPetersu9999@gmail.com.....I get you to call me but I'm on vacation but ii have email access

My '15 Genesis does the same once or twice in snow or very heavy rain. This post just came in very handy. Who really knows the exact number of trucks this has happened to (as I'm sure not everyone finds themselves turning to forums like this one). I was one of them (not sure you read my postings on this thread), took my dealer a couple of weeks to figure it out but (knock on wood) everything is back to normal. I absolutely love the Telluride and would still recommend it. The value you get for the price is great. But I would bring this issue to the attention of the dealer, perhaps get them to recalibrate the cameras before you drive it off the lot. Just to be safe.I'm looking at this thread as I'm interested in the Telluride. This brake issue is a little concerning but seems to be OK after repairs from KIA?? Why is the dealer not able to repair or do the calibration, whatever is needed? Can any of you confirm exactly why?
Even still, I don't know the sales numbers for Canada someone mentioned 7000 sold. If that's the case with only 4 reported cases in Canada out of 7000 sold that's only a 0.057% failure rate...pretty low so maybe not a huge problem.
Yes, mine gets disabled. Randomly when I am on the highway or driving in town. Went to napleton Kia in Indianapolis, and they told me to bring it in tomsee if it happened in the shop. Since it happens randomly, it might be days or weeks before it happens again.Have not heard anything from customers but thank you for reporting.

The response was quite less than satisfactory
JuHas anyone experienced any malfunctions with the 2020 Telluride in regards to the Frontal Collision Warning System? My husband and I have had multiple instances where the FCW system has engaged sporadically when not neccessary causing the brakes to lock and the vehicle to slide needlessly. When we took it to the dealer to be inspected they found no error code and stated that the FCW system was only supposed to engage when cruise control was in use. The instances these "sporadic malfunctions " occurred cruise control was NOT in use. We were told to monitor the situation and try to log when and if it reoccured, time of day etc...Any others having this problem?
