If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... Frontal Collision Warning - Malfunction

Has anyone experienced any malfunctions with the 2020 Telluride in regards to the Frontal Collision Warning System? My husband and I have had multiple instances where the FCW system has engaged sporadically when not neccessary causing the brakes to lock and the vehicle to slide needlessly. When we took it to the dealer to be inspected they found no error code and stated that the FCW system was only supposed to engage when cruise control was in use. The instances these "sporadic malfunctions " occurred cruise control was NOT in use. We were told to monitor the situation and try to log when and if it reoccured, time of day etc...Any others having this problem?

I just came from Napleton Kia In Carmel Indiana. It appears that the proble is in the emblem at the front of the car. If it gets a big juice or debris, it will malfunction. Hope keeping it clean is the answer

I am having an issue with my 2019 Kia Forte here in New Jersey. Sporadically the “ check forward collision avoidance system” message will appear along with the associated lights. I have been back to the dealer 5 times for this issue but the tech dept and special “ Kia engineer” find “ nothing wrong”. They DO see the codes in the history. They erase them and send me on my way. If there is “ nothing wrong” then WHY does this message keep appearing. This started a few weeks after I got thos car ( new). Car has a little more than 5 k miles on it. I am getti g extremely frustrated with Kia.

Please clarify by what you mean by "emblem". Do you mean the KIA logo that people are swapping out or covering with badges? Or the T E L L U R I D E letters on the front? Thank you

So far, I have enjoyed nearly all aspects of the Telluride.....that said, I have found that the "Forward Collision- Avoidance Assistance" function remains somewhat "mysterious". I have read the manual several times and DO understand all the "do's and don'ts", but it is somewhat concerning that I have NOT had one "warning" from this system in over 3k miles.......that includes situations where I have almost "tried" to get it to activate. I have had no alerts that the system is "malfunctioning" or that the "radar is blocked". So......I don't know,

And then.......Today it did its job!! Was traveling along a two lane road at around 45mph ...guy in front suddenly decides to do a hard right turn and bingo the warning lit up and I could feel the brakes being applied......perfect!!!

The thing with these systems is that if there is any input from the driver; steering, brakes, throttle pedal, it will not activate as it senses you're in control.
It comes on late and hits hard. I DO NOT recommend testing the system, it can be dangerous. There's a couple videos on YouTube where a salesmen is trying to demonstrate it with the potential customer driving the vehicle. Well he stands in front and tells the driver to drive straight at him. Human nature being what it is, the driver tried to avoid at the last moment, cancelling the FCA and the guy ends up on the hood. Could have been a lot worse...

Yes we have a2019 Kia Forte that randomly gives a collision warning when there's nothing near the car, and has applied the brakes when there's nothing in front of it. The dealership is blaming the problem on a chip in the windshield at the extreme 4oclock position of the camera. My problem with that is the camera, even if it could see this chip, would see it as a fixed object that's traveling with the camera (such as bug splatter). The camera measures closing speed of objects in front of the car and shouldn't have an issue with it. The dealership won't do anything else with the car until the windshield is replaced, which isn't covered under warranty and would cost over $1000. We've filed a complaint with NTSA, because like you, we see this as a safety issue.

False FCA warning started today less than 1k miles on the SXP. Will be having the dealer look at it soon.

We are having the exact same problem that you stated above. We just bought a 2020 Telluride.

Is your telluride braking randomly in traffic? Our telluride particularly didn't like it when we were going through an intersection and there was a car to our left waiting to make a left hand turn. It would brake and we almost were rear ended more than once. Kia was able to fix the problem after having my telluride for 3 weeks and hours of frustration on the phone with headoffice. We haven't driven it much due to the pandemic, but seems okay now.

If your telluride is braking take it in before someone gets hurt.

I have a 2019 Sorento and 2 weeks ago the forward collision assistance sensor started giving warnings. Took it to Kia service center and they had it for a week. Said it was a 4k part (bumper) and they were dealing with seeing who was paying, etc. Finally get my sorento back and leave to head home, get on highway and warning started again. Got home looked at paperwork, they didn't replace anything. They tilted the bumper and sensor down until it didn't go off. Called the service person who I had been dealing with and he hasn't called back. Tomorrow my husband is calling the GM.

Yes, my Telluride has been to the service shop 3 times for this. I just picked it up again on Saturday and it's still happening. I will take it back tomorrow. When a vehicle in front of me in the left lane brakes, my vehicle thinks it's in front of me and slams on the breaks. It's extremely dangerous for anyone behind me. The dealership re-calibrated the system twice and then supposedly replaced the system. It's still happening so I'm not sure what the issue is.

I'm having same problem with 2020 Kia Sorento after driving 2 hours. It's not in cruise control and only once around other cars. It's random and it slows down fast and jerks car hard. It won't speed up past 40 mph. I have to stop the car and turn it off then restart it.

Anyone else having this issue? I’ve seen a video on YouTube of someone having the same issue. My vehicle is still in the shop (total of 5 weeks now; 4 different times. The dealership originally told me it was because of a decal I had on the sensor cover plate. That was removed and it’s still happening. They have put me back on the road 3 times with an unsafe vehicle.
Now they won’t cover anything under warranty. If a piece of plastic did this, just imagine what dried mud would do. Personally, I don’t think they’ve done the work they claim they’ve done. they’ve even lost paperwork. Last time I brought it in I demanded a technician drive with me. The malfunction happened more than 5 times on a 5 minute drive. His response “that was terrifying and unsafe.”

My Fcw light is on along with other warning signals. The auto hold and A with right arrow circle stays on as well. I haven't read anything about other people on this forum with my issue, only fcw issue. Did anybody else have the same problem or is it just me? Bought this car in august 2019 telluride sx prestige.

So snow and ice WILL DEFINITELY disable the front collision system and Smart Cruise Control - due to buildup of snow/ice on the flat face of the radar unit.
Anyway, I had a brain fart when it clicked off in snow today.
Has anyone ever tried to install a headlight washer system? I’m thinking I can add a spray nozzle above the radar plate and spray it when snow covered. Thoughts??

Brain fart #2. Add a rounded plexiglass cover so the snow is less likely to stick. May not be workable and I’d need see if plexiglass has any adverse affect on the radar operations.

Yes, I dealt with this for a few months. It progressively got worse and after 5 visits, they replaced the sensor. I had a technician ride with me and said it was frightening.
