I am having similar problems since i got my 2021 telluride sx. i will be taking it back to the dealer for the third time . I get fca warning ,radar blocked , cruse control not working , info screen blanked out. all at ramdom times . talked to corporate and they gave me a work order number to track further service problems. not happy with no error codes no problem found.
I took the 2021 telluride sx back to the dealership. They again couldn’t get any active codes. We took it for a test drive. Got a message radar blocked . Mechanic said that is normal that it’s for highway driving not city driving, too many traffic lights were affecting the unit and the road lines are too close or the sun is blinding it or my IPhone is interfering it’s signal. That they would have to keep it several days and test it on the highway (hopefully not shopping runs) so I said fine.

Ugh that is some BS. So they're saying you should have that warning randomly popping up while driving around town? That is incorrect. Most likely a wire is loose somewhere that is disconnecting your radar, which is causing issues with all radar-dependent driving aides.

Looking to cover or replace the KIA emblems on your Telluride? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!

friendly kia has had my car for five days it's been hooked up to a computer and corporate is evaluating it. I have asked for a loaner car but was told none are available . seems like bad customer care . I will have to call back. they never call back unless it's time to schedule routine maintenance.

I called friendly kia and they said to call tomorrow in the morning. hopefully I get a loaner car on the sixth day. I am tired of asking for rides or bumming one. the receptionist is friendly and polite so I can't vent.

For what it’s worth. This is what I have experienced so far from having my Telluride which has 7k miles at the moment. I am used to not having to break when a car ahead of me is signaling that it’s going to be making a right turn. I maintain my distance and try not to break if I don’t need to. I’ve had a few times where the car in front of me seriously seems like it breaks to a complete stop to make a right turn causing for me to get so close to their rear and my car starts to beep and activates the breaks. My guess it’s doing what is supposed to do. So I know the sensor is working properly.

The issues others are reporting here is that car is braking for no reason when going 75 mph or even down to low speeds??

My wife’s friend in FL has a Hyundai that is having the same issue as the OP. 7 trips to the dealership and is now trying to get the car replaced. FL has a lemon law. Scary!

That is not my issue. When I have the car in cruse control the car stays in the lane and maintains a pre determined distance with the car in front. That distance is maintained even as that car slows down and if it stops my car will stop. But usually it looses the car and I get a radar blocked radar disabled and it catches up to the car where I have to brake to avoid hitting it. Other times when I am following the car in front with the radar and a car slips in in front of me it will not see it and catch up to it where it will hit it if I don’t apply the brakes. I can usually work with a tractor trailer but not regular cars

Yeah, that's not normal at all.

Mine works fine as you described without the error messages or failing to see a car in front. If anything, it's annoyingly cautious even with the shortest follow distance selected, and will slow down way too much when anyone cuts in or slows down in front of me.

Just got back from Friendly kia here in pasco county florida. I called the sales manager but the owner answered I told him about my year long ordeal so he talked to the service manager and got their lead technician on it . He immediately said the radar is pointing too far down. He thinks the front plastic trim was hit and pushed the bracket and radar down. the service manager said it was collision damage and not covered under warranty but that he would cover it since I have been dealing with this for over a year . The car is only 14 months old. I was going to say it might have been shipping damage, but did not. Hopefully this will fix the smart cruse control problem . The screen blanking out is a total different problem which might be a bad connection. Lastly I did get a loaner car after seven days.

I might be the radar detector not being properly aligned. It's attached to a flimsy bracket that if bumped can move the radar detector to the wrong position. the kia technician said that was the case with my telluride. I'll report back wit results when they adjust it.

Got my telluride back today 20 October 2021 they had it since the 7th of October. The fca works great now after a year of no problems found. It turned out to be an adjustment of the radar. It had close to 400 extra miles and no fuel when I got it. They said they test drove it. So if anyone has a problem with the radar you must insist they fix it. The even mentioned that I hit something and that it would not be covered. Bu I said I had this problem from day one. So they didn’t charge me. They gave me a free fill up at the shell gas station across the street from the dealer. I paid for the scheduled service and showed them a coupon for $15 dollars off the oil change which they questioned but eventually deducted from the service. I changed my own cabin filter. $ fifty dollar savings. The info screen blanking out is still a mystery , it happened four times in a year and two months. I’ll see if it happens again and post the new saga.

Has anyone experienced any malfunctions with the 2020 Telluride in regards to the Frontal Collision Warning System? My husband and I have had multiple instances where the FCW system has engaged sporadically when not neccessary causing the brakes to lock and the vehicle to slide needlessly. When we took it to the dealer to be inspected they found no error code and stated that the FCW system was only supposed to engage when cruise control was in use. The instances these "sporadic malfunctions " occurred cruise control was NOT in use. We were told to monitor the situation and try to log when and if it reoccured, time of day etc...Any others having this problem?
I just had a collision sensor malfunction with my 2021 Kia Sportage yesterday. Kia found no error code. I also was not using cruise control. My car skid and then completely stopped. Thank God I was taking an alternate route rather than the interstate or someone may have been killed. Told to monitor too. Monitor my ass! Til when? Someone is killed? Unacceptable!

When I was having problems with my 2031 telluride it was the radar sensor that was misaligned. It took Kia a year to figure that out. I was ready y you o apply the lemon law. Anyway they adjusted the sensor so they said (might have been replaced I couldn’t tell) and all the faults and screen messages never came back. No error codes were ever found. You have to put your foot down get a courtesy car and keep it until they fix your car.

Kia already had to issue a recall for their Optima Automatic Braking system which doesn't always work:

Seems like we're all just beta testers at this point.
; ( I don't want any of the adaptive crap and am quite saddened that this, "I don't know how to drive by myself and need feature with a robot to help me (who is often times clueless and dangerous)" can't be permanently turned off. Can't a wire just be yanked to turn it off completely. Maybe I need to just keep my old car instead of being forced to have all of this tech crap that I do not want...ugh.

I agree...band together with others with the same problem...then Kia will have to listen.

Yeah, that's not good. The forum can be good to find other folks with the issues - then by banding together hopefully a solution can be found. I believe that this strategy has worked for several people regarding the vibration issue - and then they were able to share resolutions as individual dealerships were often clueless.

Twice I have similar incidents at highway speed (around 65-70) during the night when the car made some warning noise, steering vibration, and I couldn’t tell if the brakes were applied. I couldn’t tell if there was any display on the screen because I was trying to focus in front of me of what was going on. And both times, it was a reflection of the street lights on a repair patch on the freeway. As I mentioned, I couldn’t tell if the car tried to brake but I hope it’s not supposed to at that speed.

I think in my case it’s the false alarm on the camera, not the radar.

Mine gave errors when the sensor was blocked during snow. On normal days it does not give any error. Now if it works fine or not I am not planning to test that :p.

Try to clean the sensor once and see in normal weather this issue occurs again or not.
