• Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... Frontal Collision Warning - Malfunction

Pieusu your description of when it happened in the left lane was exactly the same as my issue. It started doing it other times also, but I definitely saw a pattern with being in the left lane travelling 50-65km and wcars that were waiting to make a left turn.

Those from the GTA, you not only have to bring it to the dealer to get fixed ASAP but you also need to call KIA Canada and log your complaint that Kia needs to recall so they can fix every telluride they sold. Every owner needs to know this could happen to them!!!

Hi Busybeegal. Mine did it every time in those same conditions but also did randomly as well. Once I was slowly down to make a right turn and it slammed the brakes on and nobody was in front of me. It happened other times as well but I definitely saw a pattern with the car waiting to turn left.

It is a scary issue, but I'm not sure EVERY "Telluride sold" is facing the problem......there are over 7000 members on the forum and it would be interesting to see how many of us had the issue...........so far I have not. Here's hoping they have an immediate fix for the problem.

Have not had it happen randomly - but, have had it happen several times when it probably should not have...

e.g.:
- pretty regularly when someone is turning right out of my lane and had gotten far enough that they are no longer in my path - it'll unexpectedly engage brakes
- once driving in right lane, car pulls out from cross street into my lane but is easily 8-10 car lengths, maybe more, in front (certainly enough that I would not have been concerned about even slowing down), the system hit the brakes hard.

A bit disconcerting - find myself recognizing when to expect it on the right turn situation and slowing down so it doesn't... not necessarily a bad thing, but shouldn't have to...

(editorial comment - wish more members had some indication of where they are located, either in the left column member profile or in their signature...)

Just modified my profile! :)

Like Bogie said above it would be very useful to know where members are located and what Telluride trim they have, if any, especially those in Canada and other countries where there are differences from US models.

My 2013 Accord with FCW (no auto braking) is virtually useless and will chime on occasion when I’m in a turn bay going left and opposing traffic is coming at me. It can’t know that both cars will eventually turn left when at the moment they are heading right for each other. Even Tesla can’t predict that. Here’s how Kia’s system is designed

Wouldn’t you want to take it to the dealer so they can apply a “fix” BEFORE this happens to you? And if you live in a cold climate where the roads can be slippy? I don’t this it’s a coincidence there are many of us out there. It’s not like it’s a broken headrest or radio button problem. It’s an issue that randomly BRAKES your truck while you’re driving! I think that warrants a letter to owners that it could happen to them and to bring it in to make sure it never happens to them. Trust me, it’s terrifying. And I had my Telly for 8 months before this issue started.

Yes.....I was just trying to get a sense for how "widespread" the problem is BECAUSE that determines when/if KIA will issue a recall, etc. which if it is needed, I would hope they do very soon!

Can you turn the forward collision assist off?

Yes you can turn it off. But you would need to do this every time you start the engine. You should not have to remember to turn a safety feature off to stay safe.

I can't believe this that is now 4 of us in the GTA alone. Pieusu you said you are from Markham....did you get it at Longman's?
Yes from Longmans....brought it in on Monday and they brought kia Canada in...they said they did some recalibration and camera needs to be replaced and no parts until next week. They said they disabled the fcw sensor and I drove it home next day...car is acting up again! All day yesterday and today. Not safe at all

Will bring it back this week....where did you purchase it from and did they fix it...if yes how?

We all need to call Transport Canada....this is dangerous. KIA needs to take action ASAP to address this

If you would like to share an email or phone number I would be happy to speak to you directly. My story is VERY similar to yours.

My Tellruide is now doing the same thing. car is almost unsafe to drive...each time I pass a car - the beep and breaks kick in.....will need to bring it in to dealership ASAP....,car is only 6 weeks old with 3000km on it in Toronto.

I know it is over the holidays, but any update on your car?
