Hi - not sure exactly how my husband negotiated it - but it was listed on our contract that price included full insurance coverage and $0 deductible. Perhaps give them a call? Best of luck!
I used Yelp to get a messaged quote via the app. It stated in the quote the deductible was $0.

We got our car last night - smooth sailing. Took 5 days for delivery - driver called us in the afternoon and scheduled when he would come by. Bad news is we took delivery in the dark when it was drizzling, so hard to totally inspect. We are going to give the car a good once over today and report if we find any damage - but cursory glance it all looks chip-free. Next....getting the registration etc taken care of at DMV...
Congrats! Thanks for sharing, it really helps. I’m a few weeks away from my order getting delivered to i25. I live in NorCal so going to have it transported.

Hello .. Do you know how long does it take for a Telluride order to get filled and VIN created... ? I ordered back in March ... but every month the dealer says the order is unfilled , if its filled that means its on its way... I am getting anxious about my order as its in 8th month now :( .. anyone else that has waited this long? I ordered it from hilltop richmond

You should take a look at and post your question over on the “order to delivery” thread. Quick answer is every dealer has a different order to delivery timeline because they each get different allocations each month. If you look at my signature block it gives you my timeline for the dealer I worked with. In fact one of the reasons I picked them was because of the shorter order times they had. They are also a high volume dealer so they also have matched incoming dealer orders with customers. A few have gotten lucky that way. Don’t let buying out of State scare you. The information other forum members shared gave me the confidence to do it!

I was looking to do the same, but the forum helped me find a better solution for my needs. Sorry things aren’t going as you hoped. Call i25 in Colorado because a few members on other threads mentioned ordering from them and another dealer at the same time. In short, cancellations happen and you might pick up some else’s order. Keeping my fingers crossed for you!

As others have suggested, read all posts on this, as other have traveled the road you have taken. Hilltop has low allocations.

Post in thread 'Order to delivery time' Order to delivery time

Congrats! Looking forward to your experience with DMV!

Just finished with DMV this morning - here's how it went:

We completed a SMOG test, and collected all the paperwork that i25 sent to us via FedEx. As part of the paperwork with i25, we had already filled out REG 343. They sent that back to us along with Colorado title/Registration, copy of our Purchase Agreement. We also brought paperwork from the Auto Transport with date of delivery to us, Proof of Insurance, as well as SMOG certificate. We paid cash to i25 for just the car, no CA taxes.

DMV experience - total time at DMV was between 1 & 1.5 hours.

It is annoyingly difficult to schedule DMV appointment on-line - I couldn't figure out on DMV website how to book for out-of-state vehicle registration, so I called to book appointment. At least they have a new "call back" feature, so you don't have to listen to the hold music for a long time.

We arrived just in time for our 10am appt - had to wait in line to check-in, and then were informed we needed to get the vehicle inspection first. So we drove the car over to the waiting area (near where Drivers tests are administered) - waited about 10min until someone came out to inspect. She filled out "Verification of Vehicle" form (REG 31). Needed to show her our Colorado Registration form (which i25 sent us).

Went back to check-in line, and were given a wait number. I'd say we waited about 20min - not sure if we had just arrived about 20min ahead of our Appt and went to get in line for Vehicle Inspection if it would have gone faster? At the counter they only really looked at the form 343, Colorado Title, Purchase agreement etc. Didn't need to see SMOG, Auto Transport paperwork or Insurance. They took our Title/343 form, we paid our CA registration & CA sales tax. Paid via check - as they charge 2.3% fee for credit card and debit/ATM cards. Got our plates & tags, and CA Title will be mailed in about 30 days.

Done!

This is great information. My ETA with I-25 is in couple of weeks and I will need to go through this process as well. From other posts, I thought I-25 had to collect the CA tax at the time of the purchase and then forwards the amount to CA DMV of your choosing directly. Were you given an option not to pay taxes to them but instead just pay it yourself when you returned to CA? Any advantages or disadvantages of either method? Also, I was thinking about flying and picking up the car and driving back instead of getting it shipped, but I'm worried about the weather. Any regrets on getting it shipped?

Didnt get my title for nearly 3 mos

There is no on-line appointment for registration, so you do have to call or just go to local DMV office and get an appointment (likely for that day) at the check-in at the outside staging area. Even though there may be many people waiting at DMV, few are for vehicle registration. Registration services are given different line assignment numbers. In my case, insurance was not asked for at DMV, but later was sent an request to show insurance coverage, so bring insurance anyway. A couple of other posters tried to register without smog test, but were not successful. You can ask.

They didn’t ask for smog test because the stations send the results directly to DMV

When we got the initial paperwork from i25, it didn't include CA tax. When I asked their finance guy, he said sometimes they collect tax, sometimes they didn't. One benefit might be that you don't have to worry if i25 gets the info to your DMV in time within the 20 days from entry into CA. Perhaps less to coordinate. For us, it didn't matter, and we didn't want to wait to have paperwork re-done, so we proceeded with just paying the price for the car to i25. DMV didn't say anything either, just added up registration & tax and took our check. Didn't seem to be a big deal.

We thought about having my husband fly in and drive back - figured it would be plane ticket + 2 or 3 nights in hotels + wear & tear on car. If we could have spent a few days and made a road trip out of it, might have been fun. In this case, it would have been my husband driving straight back by himself - so not as fun for him. No regrets in shipping - we figured it would have been about $700 or $800 for the fly & drive, vs $1200 for shipping (& fewer miles on the car). Worth the extra $$. Especially considering we are getting close to holiday travel craziness......

we shipped via open trailer - if you go a few posts back on this thread, I wrote about the price, experience and auto transport contact info. Hope that helps

Awesome info! Now I am waiting to do all these hopefully can be done before Xmas...

How long did it took for you to work with i25? Thought shipping & dealing w/ DMV is the toughest part but working with dealership turned out to be a prolonged process for me. For example, they mailed the documents with wrong names to me and the back and forth took one extra week. The vehicle still not ready to be picked up after 3 weeks. Was expecting thanksgiving is the milestone for me but now I had to look at Xmas.

Sharing my experience:

11/4: received email that my car was on the lot as of yesterday (believe I got someone else's cancelled order, so no heads-up with ETA)
11/5: received initial paperwork via email, photos via text, arranged time to speak with finance manager on the phone for next business day (Mon)
11/8: phone call with finance manager, offered upsell for warranties, tint, etc.
11/9: received paperwork requiring wet signatures via overnight delivery from i25
11/10: changed my mind on ordered tint, finance manager had to re-do paperwork and re-send
11/11: received updated paperwork, signed, mailed back
11/12: received heads-up that truck would be picking up my SUV for transport on Mon 11/15 Fri 11/12 (it was picked up early)

Overall, it will be 8 business days from the day I was notified to the car being picked up for shipping. However, I lost a couple days with changing my mind on the tint. I think it's fair to say you could complete the transaction in a week, then maybe expect another week for shipping so 2 weeks total. FYI I paid in cash via wire transfer so didn't have to mess with waiting on financing.

I'm in the market to purchase my first family SUV and have definitely had my eyes set on the Telluride since I first saw it 2 weeks ago. With that said, I know it has been SO difficult trying to find Telluride SX-P/nightfall editions on dealer lots -- even more so, finding them at or near MSRP. For you who currently own Tellurides or have done a lot of research, what is the best way you've went about purchasing or placing an order?

I'm currently located in the Sacramento-area and have reached out to local dealers. The markups have been crazy ($5K at Folsom Lake Kia [order time is 90 days], $5K at Roseville Kia, and $12K at Elk Grove Kia). I've seen many posts recommending Hilltop Kia in the Bay Area, which I've placed my order, but 8 months is pretty far out! Wanted to get a sense of way you all may have purchased. Did you suck it up and pay above MSRP? Did you order out-of-state? Did you wait? I'd love to hear your experiences and any tips on purchasing here in CA! My excited side wants to have one TODAY, but my rational side also does not want to pay more than I should for the vehicle. 😅 ANY tips, recommendations, or advice would be amazing!
I bought an S trim at Folsom for 2500 over msrp for one on the lot. It has the RES which I didn't necessarily want so they came down off the 5k markup. Easy, fast transaction. Just don't let them sell you the low jack type product they push at the end. Elk Grove tried to bait and switch me so I walked away. Hilltop told me they don't do msrp anymore, then called me back 2 days later offering to sell me one at msrp. I gotta feeling they would have some bs markups once i got there like elk grove did. Paint protector bs or some low jack bs.
