• Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... Bad Shock on a 2020 SX with factory towing package

Have you received the insulators yet? I talked to Kia corporate last week because I've been waiting since March and they confirmed the parts are on back order with no ETA.
Thanks they have said nothing about insulators. It makes the noises but it also bounces and rides like sh!t. I’m trying to get them to put in regular shocks but they are so confused on that. They keep saying idk if we can do that.

Can someone please give me the name of a dealership that has switched their Telluride from leveling shocks to the regular shocks. Apparently my dealership has been looking into this for two days and cannot figure it out

I have a 2020 SX and i'm noticing at low speeds that there is a rattle coming from the right rear. I have the towing package as well. My initial thought is that just like my Sportage, it's the sway bar end links, but i'm curious if this is a bad shock. The sound happens at low speeds and when slowing down to low speeds, and sounds to me like a seat belt buckle slapping the side of the door, but i'm ruled that out! I'm thinking of taking it in for this, if it's the shock.

I've had both rear shocks replaced on my 21 and it sounds just like what I was experiencing. I would push them to address both sides at the same time. My other side started making noise a week after I got the first side replaced.

The insulators on top of the shocks go bad prematurely and it seems most people shocks are lasting anywhere from 6 months but less tan 2 years from what I been researching. Attached pic with insulator circled

Looking at the photo you attached you circled the non leveling one, but it appears that the absorber is different between the standard and leveling shocks. I'm curious if the non leveling absorber can be used on the leveling one, and that would be the improvement or not. Probably not, but thinking out loud.

OP here. Short update: After replacing the left strut at ~6,000mi and the right one at ~15,000mi, the left one has failed again. This time, the dealer is going to follow the TSB (that was issued after both struts were replaced). Parts are on order, ETA is unknown. I hope this will seal the deal and if not, I'll just ask to replace to standard shocks.

I started reading this thread. I have a 2020 Telluride with the tow package and my shocks just failed. I have high milage, 39000 so I am out of warranty. How much does it cost to replace the shocks?

Given that it’s a known flaw with a published TSB, they may fix it for free. Check with your service department, show them the TSB, and see what happens.

Definitely check with dealer and see if they will replace them free of charge. Would love to know what ends up happening

Thank you! How can print out the TSB to show them?

Thank you do much!
Good luck and keep us updated. I’m pretty sure it should be covered so if the dealer is acting out try another dealer or if that doesn’t work approach Kia directly.

You should be in warranty. It’s 5 years/60000 mile or whatever comes first. I took my Sportage in with 58,000 miles at 4 years and they fixed it free of charge.

Took the car to local dealer, he confirmed the shock absorbers had failed. He used the TSB to order new absorbers, will take a few days. Confirmed it was under warranty. Should have them installed by May 28.

That's great! Few days is impressive, my dealer told me it's backordered with no ETA.
Which state you're at?
