• Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... Does Telluride have their version of variable cylinder management to save fuel? If so, can it be permanently disabled/disabled each trip?

There is an entire thread about this subject. It must be disabled per trip.

Sorry, I didnt make myself clear. I know about the start stop feature. I was asking about the feature that Honda, GM and others use that shuts down half the cylinders when reaching cruise speed. Honda calls it Variable Cylinder Management. GM calls theirs Active Fuel Management or some such. I’m hoping Kia uses no such system or that it can be disabled. It causes engine problems and saves very little fuel.

Oh sorry for the confusion.😊

No, Telluride doesn't have variable cylinder management but the 3.8 litre engine is very advanced: it changes it to atkinson cycle when it isn't being pushed hard. But when you do want to push it hard, it can get quite aggressive and is sufficiently fast.

Let me put it this way, the Telluride is faster than our '17 Sorento EX V6 even though the Telluride weighs more.

Thats refreshing! Glad to hear some manufacturers are staying away from variable cylinder management! Thanks for answering!
