• Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... Incoming Map Update: 16.5 Arriving October 24

Update still not available

Just received a recall notice from Kia . Doesn't apply to me. If you have a plug for towing, you will need to go to your dealer for some work.

You're on the wrong thread....try this one..

One week later the update is still not available.

The list of eligible vehicles doesn't even include the Telluride.

Just got off the phone with Kia customer service and they are not told why the updates have been pulled and no ETA on when they will available again

It’s better to wait, they pull them every time and they obviously pull them for a reason.

Did this last time. I downloaded it the day it came out and then a big delay. Made me wonder if I had something that was corrupted but never an issue. I wouldn't be too concerned about this delay, there really isn't anything changed to get anxious about.

According to some on the Hyundai side who called Mapnsoft inquiring, the issue they were targeting involves the installer failing, hanging, or refusing to initialize in certain cars. That’s why all Gen 5W updates were pulled on Friday after being out for a few days. If you got it installed, you’re set. If you didn’t, keep waiting. The good news is this is not a significant or important update. So even if you have to wait another month before it reappears, no big deal.

Mine updated fine....I pulled it the day it came out. But no local map updates that I can see. It still has tons of missing data on the roads around here. Even one road is stated a one way which alerts me that I am driving the wrong way every time lol

I will use my Verizon phone. Posted before....went cross country and had too many bad experiences with their Nav system. Couldn't care less if it ever updated again.

I have a 2021 Telluride SX. I still have the 3 panels on the display (map/music/weather). Are you guys recommending that I not update to the latest version when it becomes available to download?

Nav App Ver: STD5W.NAM.KMC.200319.168fa330

As I’ve said before, it depends on what you value and how you use the system.

Do note that you are so far behind that you’ll do a stepped multipart update (essentially, it’ll update to the fall 2020 version, seem like it’s done, then start over again to get to the current version). So it will be a long process for you.

I honestly didn't even realize I was able to update the software until a few days ago. When you say it depends on what I value and how I use the system, how is the update different besides all the purple icons I see in posted screenshots, and lack of the 3-panel display? That doesn't seem better to me at all, unless the maps are dramatically updated from the version I am on.

The standard home screen looks like this, almost exactly as it has been since the November 2020 update. That replaced the old three-tile home screen.1667518793066.webp

Everything else functions nearly identically to how it always has. You can have system apps in full screen, or split between one app being 2/3 of the screen and another on the right 1/3. Other than some UI design changes, this is the same as before.

They added ability to have black maps all the time (not just at night) a few updates ago.

How do you use the system? Do you use stock maps and radio? Do you use CarPlay? Android Auto? Bluetooth audio? What you use will determine how important the updates are and what impact(s) there would be on you.

I’ve seen people who say time and time again that they’ll never give up their three-tile home screen, and then it turns out they use Android Auto all the time and basically never even see that screen. And ironically, it’s very beneficial for them to update because AA can use the entire screen now as of the April 2022 update.

So again, it really depends on how you use the system.

I use Apple CarPlay a lot of the time with Apple Music/Google Maps with fullscreen and bluetooth when I don't have my phone plugged in. That screenshot you posted actually doesn't look bad at all.

Do you have a personal preference to the view you posted vs the 3-tile view that I have?

I don’t often use that main home screen (I didn’t often use the old three-tile home screen, either – the third tile was usually just a waste with weather or driving info while it was available).

I personally usually use either CarPlay/Android Auto or (most often) just 2/3 Kia map in black and 1/3 Bluetooth audio from my phone.

Still waiting for it to become available again. Odd that it gets pulled every release.

Does this update fix the issue with the GPS drifting? Has anyone here had that issue?

The 3 panel look isn't worth not upgrading over. What was that, 2 years ago? I've forgotten it was even there.
