Anyone Purchased from Jim Butler Kia in Chesterfield, MO?

Finally got my order canceled and refunded. Ordered 3/23. Never once was contacted by the dealership (despite telling the salesman I definitely wanted to switch colors when the '23 ordering opened). Moving on to another vehicle. A little disappointed, but good riddance to the way Kia is managing orders.

Best of luck, and hopefully everyone moves up a slot and gets their car soon!

If you are still interested in the Telluride I suggest calling Lou Fusz Kia. Talk to Curtis Laws.

Quick update from my "journey": After I was told I was #6 in line for my trim level, I watched failcat like a hawk, keeping track of the count. Well, the disappointment set in when #6 appeared and it wasn't mine. Contacted my sales rep and coincidence would have it that at the same time, I received an email update. My order got picked up and estimated delivery date is March 9th. Ugh, if that holds, the wait would be just over 1 year. Better late than never but at this point, if I factor in the continued depreciation of the trade-in and the upcharge for the '23 model year, I could have easily bought a '22 in March this year OVER sticker. Oh well...

So sorry to hear. If you factor in the jump in interest rates for anyone financing, the impact of the delays gets even worse.

I'll be able to pay for the whole car by then so no financing necessary but still... I will also see what the Mazda CX90 offers and maybe cancel the Telluride after all.

What trim level did you order? Still trying to figure out where I’m at in line.

Alright, if anyone is wondering, Arapahoe in Denver is at a 6 month wait. The salesman I spoke with is optimistic that it will be in before that though. Reason being, they've had 90 Tellys allocated to them already. Not all of those are orders, but they match orders to their unallocated vehicles to get people in their cars faster. They require a $100 deposit and take orders over the phone. They will also reimburse you up to $400 for your plane ticket and you can drive it back. They require you buy carpet floor mats because they have so many people back out of orders and they have to buy them when they sell the car to someone else. They're $210.

Lou Fusz requires you to order in person and are at a 6-9 month wait. They don't require a deposit, but do require a credit application. Kind of strange. Im probably not going to do this because I don't want the hard credit hit 6 months before I actually purchase a car and I dont think they'll get mine in before Butler or Arapahoe.
Just bringing this post back up.

Ordered from Arapahoe 10/17 and Kia has picked up my order. Looking at a February delivery.

My original order at Jim Butler was 3/17. 2023 order was placed 10/10, updated (and pushed me to the back of the line) 10/12. I still haven't heard an update from them.

Just trying to figure out if I'm trading in my CX-5 to Arapahoe or selling to CarMax/Carvana here. Arapahoe will reimburse my flight and provide transportation from the airport to pick up the car.

Very frustrating when you take into account the new interest rates, 2023 Telly cost increase and lower trade-in values.

Sorry to hear that you got bumped to the back of the line. When I switched my order to a ‘23, I was told I’d keep my spot. With an estimated 5 month wait on the horizon since the switch (in addition to an already 7 month wait since the original order), I’m not sure if I kept my spot. I am getting highly annoyed with the brand before I even have the car. I am definitely going to keep an open mind regarding the Mazda CX90 as we currently also have a CX5 which we really like.

I don’t think this is so much the brand as it’s the way the dealer treats its customers. I have had nothing but great experiences with Lou Fusz. These dealers are just a few miles apart. Fusz doesn’t play games.

Fusz is apparently a high volume dealership which is why their wait times are shorter. I thought I had better chances with a less "busy" place. Well I guess I was wrong. Everything is speculation and I am not accusing Butler of anything. Communication is technically fine. Every time there was a change, I received an update. Don't expect them to keep me in the loop to let me know that there aren't any news. Would I have liked them to be more proactive? Sure.

The thing that makes me a little sour is that they told me I was in a certain spot in line and that that didn't turn out to be correct and when I asked, I was given no explanation. At this point I am not sure I want to give them my trade in but in my state the trade in reduces the tax rate of the purchased vehicle. I'll see what the exact numbers are and decide then. In the meantime, I'll look into the Mazda CX 90.

My thoughts exactly. Not faulting them per se because they didn't know exact timeframes, updates, etc, just lack of proactivity is my issue. There was a point where it felt like my salesperson potentially just wrote my order on a napkin and it never actually got ordered. I will say Chris the manager has been great about communication once I reached out to him and went above my guy. I ordered in May and am hoping for a March/April delivery which he said seems possible, but given that others have already been picked and have March ETA's, who knows.

I really just want the Telluride so fine with waiting, but totally understand going different routes too. Definitely going to try to do more cash, less financing at this point though

The trade in hurts the most, along with higher interest rates. Good luck to you.

Thank you! It is what it is unfortunately. For a full calculation you'd have to hold the Telluride's (had I gotten it sooner) depreciation against the trade-in's. I'd estimate overall (including the upcharge for the '23 model), I'll be about 5k-6k in the hole. Had I known what I know now, I'd have bought one over sticker 9 months ago.

After over 10 months of waiting, I'm supposed to pick up my Telluride this afternoon. I'm estimating a $6k-$8k impact on my family due to impacts on the trade in value, additional repairs to keep the trade in running, interest rate hikes, and MSRP increases.

Congrats! Did they notify you when your order was picked up or were you reaching out to to frequently to get info? I’ve not gotten any updates and I emailed my salesperson yesterday to try to get some info.

Congrats! Hope you can pick it up before the wind and snow move in. Stay safe.

I was checking in monthly and then pretty much weekly once I saw it show up in failcat in October. I think I only received one unsolicited update about my vehicle in all these months...and that was last week.

Congrats and nice Xmas surprise. I’m only 1 month behind you on the order date and have to wait until March. It could always be worse
