Anyone Purchased from Jim Butler Kia in Chesterfield, MO?

A customer just backed out of their order.

SX X-Line Wolf Grey ... selling for MSRP...today.
VIN 5xyp5dgcxpg356063

Ask for Cheryl 636.448.1239

Thank you for sharing. Of course…this one somehow got my spot in line (#6 SX Xline) and now they backed out of the deal…smh

See it is things like this that are really making not happy with how Kia processes their orders. There is no rhyme or reason as to why one gets picked over another. Why some people who put in orders 2-3 months ago already have ETAs and others who have been waiting 10 months are still left in the dark. It shouldn’t matter what dealership you go with. Orders should be submitted to corporate and they should be filled as close to in order as possible. My uncle ordered a Jeep and while still at the dealership they were able to give him an accurate ETA. SMH

FINALLY got the text that my order has been picked up. I have an ETA of 3/29. If it is accurate, then it will have been 12 months and 3 weeks from order to pick up. I still plan on going to the auto show. Who knows, maybe there is something better that has come out over the last year.

Just checking in to see if anyone has gotten an update on their ETAs. Seems like we are running about a year from Jim Butler

I ordered mine around 3/9/2022 and was switched over to a 23 at the end of September. My order was picked up by Kia on 1/12/23 with an eta of 3/29/23. I got a call on 2/13/22 that the person right before me placed the exact same order (trim level and colors) and backed out and that the car had just arrived on the lot. I picked it up 2/15/23 last week. The vin for my actual order still hasn’t even popped up on failcat, so I am guessing it will still arrive at the end of March. So yeah one year was true for me. I do feel like lower trim levels seem to be coming in faster though.

I got an email yesterday with an update. The estimated delivery date got pushed back from March 9th to April 5th. I ordered on March 2nd, 2022! I haven’t even told my wife yet (it is her car) ‘cause I know she’ll be pretty upset, so I am waiting for a “good moment” to let her know.

This is getting ridiculous and will most likely be the first and last Kia I’ll buy. I am actually considering placing an order for the new Mazda CX90.

This delay ordeal will easily cost me $6,000 - $7,000 (price increase for 2023 model + huge price drop of the trade-in).

Ouch, sorry to hear. Yeah, it's wild how long it has been. Debating going the used route at this point

I got an email yesterday that my order will be delivered April 11th.

Im flying out to Colorado to pick up my "other" order on the 4th. Took it 4 months to be picked up and 5 to be delivered. Took my Jim Butler order 11 months to be picked up and 14 to be delivered.

I have a family member thats interested in my Jim Butler Telluride and they're probably going to drive up here from Atlanta to buy it.

Wow that really sucks. I will never order a Kia again after this whole process. My husband and I actually are considering getting a Grand Highlander when Toyota opens up their pre-orders even though we just picked up our Telly. If we like the third row improvements then we would trade the Telluride. We have never had issues with Toyota (our other vehicle is a Prius and we LOVE our dealership) like we have had trying to order this Kia.

Just curious why you would be so quick to trade in the Telly if you just picked it up? Do you not like it? What things are bothering you?

I have only had it for a week but so far my family is loving the Telluride. The only reason we would consider the Toyota Grand Highlander is if the hybrid max engine can get close to the 34 miles per gallon it is currently speculated to get. My husband and I were looking for a three row SUV for a few years and were holding out for the redesigned Sequoia because we have owned several Toyota's in the past and loved them. The technology updates inside were amazing but when we saw the size of the trunk on the 2023 we immediately had to cross it off the list. We love the Toyota dealership near us, so much so that we take our Prius and our Grand Cherokee there exclusively.

I have never owned a Kia until now and the way Kia corporate has handled their orders and allocations has really put me off from ever ordering or buying one again. Butler was great to work with once my order was finally picked up but any time I called prior (which I did once a month) was the generic "we don't know" with no further effort put in. They had to have known that they weren't getting allocations very fast but didn't want to tell me that so that I wouldn't cancel my order and go elsewhere, which I absolutely would have done.

The Telluride was the top of the class for the last few years. Other brands are feeling the pressure and are starting to step off their game in the mid-class SUV range in a compelling way to narrow the gap on tech and specs.

Thanks for the very detailed reply. I'm moving from a Jeep Grand Cherokee and picking up my Telluride this Saturday. Also my first Kia. Glad you are loving it so far. I totally understand your relationship with Toyota and the dealer, something that clearly is very important to you and I totally respect that. Agree, the ordering/allocation is very frustrating. I'm fortunate to have a great dealer that really kept me in the know through the entire process. That made the experience very tolerable. I knew going into it that I would have a wait if I wanted it at MSRP, but I really fell in love with the Telluride when I first sat in one early last year. My JGC lease was up in mid-September and I ordered my Telly in late April. My dealer said 5-7 months and my 2022 came in at 5 1/2 months - they were right on. I knew from the start that I wanted a 2023, so I let them sell my 2022 to another customer. Fortunately my in-laws have an extra car that I've been using. Then Kia royally screwed up the first few month of the 2023. The dealer felt, based on how their 2022 allocations worked that I would be in the 2023 in November or December. Not their fault at all. Kia just had very low production of SX-Prestige X-Lines - which is what I wanted. I preferred to wait instead of taking something I didn't want. I really hope I love it after all this!!!

Hope everything works out for you and enjoy the Telly while you have it!!!

We couldn’t get anything local in St. Louis at MSRP without a long wait so we bought ours from International Kia in Orland Park (Chicago) a few weeks ago. Easy process, they have a lot of stock, and sell at MSRP. Call Moe there.

Just got my VIN and Window Sticker! ETA now 3/31. There is light at the end of the tunnel!

Does anyone in the area love the service department they use? We bought at Butler. My husband went in today for an oil change and tire rotation. He was told we were due for a fuel treatment so he had them do it. I called them to ask them about this since neither the app nor the normal maintenance schedule called for this, and I’d not scheduled it to be done when setting up the appointment. They said they recommend it every 7.5K miles, and they wouldn’t acknowledge that they’d misled him into believing the car was actually due for it on the schedule. Not the end of the world, but did increase our service bill by 50% today. Also, they put on the window sticker that we are due to return in 3,000 miles. I asked them why, and they said they use the severe driving schedule. No explanation why they do that or why then they don’t list 5,000 miles. Long story short, looking for a service department in the area that I can trust.

I think everyone has had some kind of bad service experience. I use Lou Fusz Toyota and they are really good. All service advisors have a bad day occasionally. I’ve haven’t had a negative experience with them yet.

No service needed yet but we’ll be trying HW Kia since we live closest to there.

Will pick up tomorrow. Went there today to get the trade appraised and took a peak at it while it was sitting in the service bay getting prepared for delivery. Am glad the wait is over after 1 year and 12 days. Don’t think I’d do it again for a regular car. I hope it lives up to the expectations.
