Ouch, sorry to hear. Yeah, it's wild how long it has been. Debating going the used route at this pointI got an email yesterday with an update. The estimated delivery date got pushed back from March 9th to April 5th. I ordered on March 2nd, 2022! I haven’t even told my wife yet (it is her car) ‘cause I know she’ll be pretty upset, so I am waiting for a “good moment” to let her know.
This is getting ridiculous and will most likely be the first and last Kia I’ll buy. I am actually considering placing an order for the new Mazda CX90.
This delay ordeal will easily cost me $6,000 - $7,000 (price increase for 2023 model + huge price drop of the trade-in).
I got an email yesterday that my order will be delivered April 11th.Just checking in to see if anyone has gotten an update on their ETAs. Seems like we are running about a year from Jim Butler
Just curious why you would be so quick to trade in the Telly if you just picked it up? Do you not like it? What things are bothering you?Wow that really sucks. I will never order a Kia again after this whole process. My husband and I actually are considering getting a Grand Highlander when Toyota opens up their pre-orders even though we just picked up our Telly. If we like the third row improvements then we would trade the Telluride. We have never had issues with Toyota (our other vehicle is a Prius and we LOVE our dealership) like we have had trying to order this Kia.
I have only had it for a week but so far my family is loving the Telluride. The only reason we would consider the Toyota Grand Highlander is if the hybrid max engine can get close to the 34 miles per gallon it is currently speculated to get. My husband and I were looking for a three row SUV for a few years and were holding out for the redesigned Sequoia because we have owned several Toyota's in the past and loved them. The technology updates inside were amazing but when we saw the size of the trunk on the 2023 we immediately had to cross it off the list. We love the Toyota dealership near us, so much so that we take our Prius and our Grand Cherokee there exclusively.Just curious why you would be so quick to trade in the Telly if you just picked it up? Thanks for the very detailed reply. I'm moving from a Jeep Grand Cherokee and picking up my Telluride this Saturday. Also my first Kia. Glad you are loving it so far. I totally understand your relationship with Toyota and the dealer, something that clearly is very important to you and I totally respect that. Agree, the ordering/allocation is very frustrating. I'm fortunate to have a great dealer that really kept me in the know through the entire process. That made the experience very tolerable. I knew going into it that I would have a wait if I wanted it at MSRP, but I really fell in love with the Telluride when I first sat in one early last year. My JGC lease was up in mid-September and I ordered my Telly in late April. My dealer said 5-7 months and my 2022 came in at 5 1/2 months - they were right on. I knew from the start that I wanted a 2023, so I let them sell my 2022 to another customer. Fortunately my in-laws have an extra car that I've been using. Then Kia royally screwed up the first few month of the 2023. The dealer felt, based on how their 2022 allocations worked that I would be in the 2023 in November or December. Not their fault at all. Kia just had very low production of SX-Prestige X-Lines - which is what I wanted. I preferred to wait instead of taking something I didn't want. I really hope I love it after all this!!!I have only had it for a week but so far my family is loving the Telluride. I have never owned a Kia until now and the way Kia corporate has handled their orders and allocations has really put me off from ever ordering or buying one again. Butler was great to work with once my order was finally picked up but any time I called prior (which I did once a month) was the generic "we don't know" with no further effort put in. They had to have known that they weren't getting allocations very fast but didn't want to tell me that so that I wouldn't cancel my order and go elsewhere, which I absolutely would have done.
The Telluride was the top of the class for the last few years. Other brands are feeling the pressure and are starting to step off their game in the mid-class SUV range in a compelling way to narrow the gap on tech and specs.
I think everyone has had some kind of bad service experience. I use Lou Fusz Toyota and they are really good. All service advisors have a bad day occasionally. I’ve haven’t had a negative experience with them yet.Does anyone in the area love the service department they use? We bought at Butler. My husband went in today for an oil change and tire rotation. He was told we were due for a fuel treatment so he had them do it. I called them to ask them about this since neither the app nor the normal maintenance schedule called for this, and I’d not scheduled it to be done when setting up the appointment. They said they recommend it every 7.5K miles, and they wouldn’t acknowledge that they’d misled him into believing the car was actually due for it on the schedule. Not the end of the world, but did increase our service bill by 50% today. Also, they put on the window sticker that we are due to return in 3,000 miles. I asked them why, and they said they use the severe driving schedule. No explanation why they do that or why then they don’t list 5,000 miles. Long story short, looking for a service department in the area that I can trust.
No service needed yet but we’ll be trying HW Kia since we live closest to there.Does anyone in the area love the service department they use? We bought at Butler.
