• Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... I read the 2023 models have a setting to disable the feature that PLAGUES previous years which is to dim the ambient lighting when you shift out of park.

Is this true?

Helloooo

Hi @Lakaiguy yes, the 23's you can keep the brightness at a 10 and turn off "dim after shifting from park". I have an SXP X-PRO but cannot confirm if lower trims EX and below also have ambient lighting and this feature. The 23's also have a bonus single light strip a little bit above the glove box.

Seems like a little bit of an exaggeration. It’s ambient light. It’s for the background, not taking over and lighting up the interior.

Ambient lighting is SX and up only.
The 23's also have a bonus single light strip a little bit above the glove box.
Not really a bonus, that’s always been there on 2020-22 SX models.

Do you mine posting a picture of the setting on your infotainment screen?

Not really an exaggeration, even Kia realized the dimming when shifting to park was silly because they fixed it for the 23s.

The whole interior lighting "team" really dropped the ball. You mention it not being meant to take over and light up the interior. That's what the total afterthought Kia called the "interior lighting kit" option that turns your vehicle into a cheesy fast and furious neon car show is for.

The brightness adjustment is useless. Even on maximum 10 setting the light almost dissappears when not in park so it's like there's 2 settings. Off and very very low.

I absolutely love this car but I'm ok calling out faults when I see one.

Is something wrong with my ambient lighting? I have a 2023 SXP X-Pro and I wonder if one of my ambient / mood light strips is functioning or not. In all the videos I've seen for previous model years, there is a light strip above the buttons just to left of the steering wheel. That area does not light up in my vehicle. See picture below and the arrow I added for the spot I am referring to. Can anyone with a MY2023 confirm whether this area is supposed to light up?

I don’t have a light there either
