• Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... The 2023 Telluride Towing Saga - Adding some data and pictures, and it's not great news

I'm going to install Tekonsha's zero contact (item 119250KIT). I think there's room below the tail lights to drop the wiring behind the rear facia, which means no need to open any panels on the car. The zero contact doesn't splice into the wires so no warrantee issues to worry about. I'll use etrailer's video to identify the right wires. This will only give me a 4-flat and I need a 7-pin, but I can connect the 4-flat to the back of the 7-pin I have to give me at least turn signals, brake, tail, and a 12v+ line I need for the trailer, and all should be hidden under the car with no need for a harness to be draped out of the rear hatch when in use. My brake controller is on the trailer side so I don't care about the blue/brake wire and I don't have back-up lights on the trailer so no need to wire that in either. I'll let you know how it goes.
To add, I dont believe there is 12v on a 4 pin either. I also tried the zero contact and it did not work reliably for me so i ended up returning to Amazon, Turn signals would blink 3 times then stop for 2 or 3 blinks then start again, Sometimes didnt work at all. The harness that taps into the wire directly works perfectly.

All will be a moot point soon hopefully as my official OEM 7 pin wire Harness from HyundaiPartsPro has shipped. When Installed I will update the board if it solves all our problems.

Maybe I'm wrong, but I don't believe a 4-pin connector will ever provide a +12V line, at least not one with any real current capability for running accessories or brakes. I believe the only way you can get a constant +12V from a 4-pin connector would be to 1) turn on the running lights and 2) grab the 12V off the brown wire. Note - if you turn the running lights off, the brown wire goes dead.

A steady +12V wire for running trailer brakes and accessories is only available on a 7-pole trailer connector.
Sorry to confuse. Tekonsha only sells a 4-flat, and I want to use their zero contact technology. I'll take that and use a 7-pin that is wired to take input from a 4-flat. But I will run a separate line from the battery to feed the 12v on the 7-pin to feed the trailer, you are right the 4-flat won't do that. I'd love to just install a 7-pin outright but want to avoid cutting into the wiring. That said, I've installed harnesses on four other vehicles over the years and always spliced right into the wiring with no issues whatever. I guess I'm just paranoid with this car because it's so new and there has been so much talk about voiding warrantees.

This is basically the 7-pin I am using to move from 4-flat:

Adapter 4-Pole to 7-Pole and 4-Pole

etrailer Item # 37185

I can't add the link, this forum blocks external links looks like. If I were to wire in a 7-pin from the start and not use the 4-flat I'd still need to do everything that I'm doing to wire in the 4-flat, so it's not really any extra work, there is just one extra junction point (where the 4-flat connects to the 7-pin).

Ah - you're trying to do what this guy did with the Palisade. Best of luck! Let us know how it goes.

Gary, could you post the link? I couldn’t find it on YouTube.
its on etrailer web site.....2023 telluride wiring harness...They did suggest that down the road there may be a plug an play harness but for now its splice in....

Following! Will that work on a telluride?

Apparently, This part number was available until about November 2022, then it was not available and backordered until just recently, Other forum members have installed this 7 pin Kit on both Telluride and Palisade 2023 models and it is what we have been waiting for(I hope),

As I said, I will Update once received and installed, Currently I am using the Curt 59236 Tail light converter and power from the rear cigarette Lighter socket in the rear hatch with a a 4 pin to 7 pin converter. It works well enough to tow my boat but I want full 7 pin functionality which I hope is given by the factory part number. I also installed a Redarc Brake contoller, so I have all the pieces necessary to tow, The 2022 Telluride hitch I installed looks fine. I did not re-install the bumper cover piece and just blacked out a few lighter colored body pieces until the bumper cover for 2023 is available.

That's great news! I've been holding out with a 22 hitch waiting to be installed for an actual harness.

Yesterday I installed etrailer.com E45ZR hitch; it was easy and took about an hour.

At least 20 minutes of that time was spent fighting the exhaust isolators until I discovered I was being too tender.

Rather than removing the three rear-most isolators, I chose to remove only the two rear-most. This prevented the need to support the exhaust but still gave me enough room to work around it.

Open-end or box end wrenches are a great help on that side. Drivers side was a breeze.

Next up is Tekonsha’s 119250. I’ll post results soon.

PS: It’s really unfortunate that Kia aren’t prepared to offer a wiring harness at this time. If the Tekonsha ZCI doesn’t work, I plan to engage a Lemon Law attorney (that I’ve used before) and pursue a value-based claim. I bought this vehicle to tow shit, and if they want to stand behind the warranty being voided if a third party harness is used, they don’t have much of a leg to stand on.

Thanks for trying to run this to ground. I'm in the same boat. I specifically bought this vehicle to tow shit. I shouldn't have to come out of pocket for a tow package that should have been included, nor be worried about voiding my warranty if aftermarket parts are installed.

On an email exchange from a Kia Service Manager at the dealer I bought my 23 from: “They are supposed to be coming soon on release.” To which I interpreted as to mean, they’re supposed to hear back soon on when they’re going to release the harness. Which, I’m going to assume based on some earlier remarks from other posters, would be around the time the 24 is announced or released (Aug or Sept). Speculation only.

Based on how the remote start on key fob went for 2020 owners, I’m guessing they are working to get this resolved for the upcoming model year first. Impact to future sales first is the priority for shareholders.

My 23 Factory Harness should be arriving today. Will take photos of kit and post when I receive it. Part number S8F67AC800

Just got my shipping notice from Canada as well for the harness. I already did a 7 pin install so might sell it.
