• Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... In the past my cars all had CD players so I could play my favorite music. Just bought a 2024 model EX and was wondering if I could link an mp3 player with the infotainment system. I'd like to know before I buy a player. Also, I'm an old guy and slightly(more than slightly) technically challenged. I'd like to be able to do this without jumping through hoops. Thanks!

This is the information from the infotainment manual showing what files and formats are allowed from an attached USB stick. Most dedicated players (e.g., old iPods) will not be supported.

Most people will be best served by just connecting your phone and using that via CarPlay or Android Auto. Or, if you have a player that supports Bluetooth, that would work great as well.

We old guys should stick together! o_O
I was considering buying an mp3 player for my Sorento. (Essentially the same electronics as the Telly.)
Depending on the brand, those suckers can get expensive.
Anyway, after much research, it appears they should plug-in IN PLACE OF your iphone (or android) or your wireless adapter directly into the USB right up front.
Before spending the money, you can nail down an answer at a stereo shop - they will be more than glad to bring one out to the car and plug it in.

Thanks for the help. I'll check it out

Let us know what you did ....

I ended up ripping my CD’s to a thumb drive I had laying around (they’re about $5), and just plug the thumb drive into the media USB port. I can pull up specific albums or artists that are all sorted out in file folders. It works great!

Yeah but a nice mp3 player is the cat's meow!

no idea why anyone would buy an MP3 player when your phone does the same thing. And like Hoolie said a USB drive works great and you can stuff thousands of songs on one, hit shuffle and forget about it.

The good ones have MUCH better signal response than your phone to help with sound quality. That is the only reason to buy one - but for some it is a big reason. Myself - I am not sure yet if I will buy one because I am concerned that the Harmon Kardon sound system may be so limited that it really doesn't matter?

I would say a USB drive pugged directly into the car would not have any signal response issues, sounds great in my 'Ride.
