• Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... Which FUMOTO valve is best so you don't have to modify the bottom shield? Any other valve options? Thanks in advance

I've read where there is no bottom shield on the Tellys. Looks like it was designed for one, but KIA left if off.

Can’t comment on 23 or later but there’s a shield that needs removed.

Well somebody will soon comment on what is there from DIY oil change.

Yes, you have to remove a shield to gain access to the drain plug and oil filter. I went with F106SX. It does rub a little bit but no need to cut anything.

From a picture I saw, this must be the relatively small plastic shield that is in the large opening?

Yupper, need to remove to access filter and prevent mess if you open drain bolt.

I'm going to order and have dealer install it at my 1st oil change. Going to use mobile 1.

The only problem with Mobile 1 is that it does not meet ACEA A5 standards, which is specified in the Telluride manual (page 9-5). Another member here told me today about Pennzoil Ultra that exceeds ACEA A5. Castrol Edge also exceeds ACEA A5. I am going to use the Pennzoil because I researched a comparison between the two:

"The main difference between Pennzoil Platinum oil and Castrol Edge is that Pennzoil Platinum is formulated for a better fuel economy and is more resistant to heat-related damage. Pennzoil Platinum oil is derived from natural gas while Castrol Edge oil is formulated from a mixture of castor oil (derived from castor bean plant) and petroleum-based lubricants. Pennzoil Platinum prevents carbon deposits and sludge due to detergent and produces less smoke compared to Castrol Edge motor oils. Both Pennzoil Platinum and Castrol Edge oils are best-selling synthetic motor oils in the United States. They are similar in consistency but differ slightly in their formulation. Both oils will protect the engine from wear and tear."

Remember the Telly takes 7.08 qts.

One last thing - not sure I would trust any dealer to use the oil you bring them. Not sure why I feel this way, but I don't have the same fear for my local mechanic.

Sure, but mobile never tried to meet the European spec and you know that the dealers are not using pennnzoil or Castrol either. This is my third telluride and the dealer uses my mobile 1. If they actually install it is unknown

I always figured the dealers used some off-brand that was cheaper.

If you are going to have the dealership change your oil I would not buy it. it drains slower

7.08 is a dry fill

6.87 is a service fill.

I put 6.5 in

You'd think they would tell you this - geez
Thanks, saved me from buying an extra quart! (y)

It is in the manual.
You're a better man than me - I can't find it and I've looked and looked.

In the 24 manual on page 9-5 it says 7.08. Which is strange since it is the same engine as previous years and is the same exact amount as a dry fill.

Exactly - that's the only thing I found per my post #10
