If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... I have a 4day old 2024 telluride, while driving on an off ramp car in front shot up rock and chipped and then cracked my windshield. I called dealership and they first said not under warranty. But talking to manager I told them about the class action lawsuit and Kia letter that states they would fix the windshield out of goodwill gesture. They said they need to talk to Kia headquarters so I’ll c what they say Tomorrow.
I was just wondering if anyone got their newer tellurides fixed by Kia through this letter.
Thanks

That letter dates back to 2019.

KIA clearly admitted they had defective windshield glass. I am going to assume that they have corrected the issue by now - some five years later. If so, your insurance should take care of most of the expense. Of if you happen to have windshield repair built in to an extended warranty package, you are good to go.

And what year is your Telluride? I am trying to determine if perhaps KIA has resolved the problem?
TIA

2022 .. we bought it in August of last year.

Thanks - That doesn't bode well for it being resolved. It sure would be nice if someone with inside scoop would post.

There is a long long thread about this here. I've had mine replaced by KIA with the letter even though it wasn't sent to me. I've got a 2020 and the replaced one is exactly the same so I expect it to break sooner or later. It's simply inferior.

What did Kia say? This happened to me today with my 24 Telluride. I'm pretty pissed because I JUST got it tinted 2 days ago, to include the windshield.

Sorry to hear alko, Kia gave me the crap about how it’s not their problem that it cracked because of a rock. But I did make a claim so Kia knows that 2024 are having glass cracking. I’m going through insurance to fix it. Kia dealership gave me loaner til my car gets fixed.

With the amount that I have had to replace (3 now within 30k miles), I wouldn't get it tinted again lol.

Thanks, I appreciate it. I called Kia Customer Support and the lady started to give me an attitude. She opened a claim and told me to take it to the dealership to have them look at it, to tell me if it was a manufacturer defect or if it was a rock chip. I told her straight up that it was a rock and that my concern is that there's an open class action law suit regarding the windshield glass. When I called the dealer the service advisor was like "well what do they want us to do?" I told her that at this point I want a paper trail. I'm not hopeful Kia will do anything. Funny, I just found a chip in my side rear window. I don't think it's all the way through so maybe Safelite will be able to fix it.

Thats what my wife said...not to get it tinted again. Did the dealer replace the windshield, and if so, did they cover it under good-faith?

I just filed a complaint with the NHTSA. I recommend everyone else do the same on NHTSA.gov

I'm curious as to those who replaced their windshield, what did you replace it with? OEM or aftermarket? If Aftermarket have you had to replace it?

I just filed complaint with Nhtsa. Thanx alko. I’m replacing my windshield with oem only because it’s a brand new car and I’m going through insurance. Big price difference $400 for aftermarket $1800 for oem. That pricing is just for the glass and not including calibration and installation. But I’m in hawaii so prices might be different for u

Do you have a picture? Like to see the extent of the damage, including where the rock hit.

My Erie auto insurance just gave me a quote for unlimited window replacement for the Telluride at $67 a year.

I just got off the NHTSA site and I was shocked on how many windshield complaints have been filed for the Telluride going back since it's introduction. People are claiming that they are finding cracked windshields after the car was just sitting in their driveways. This seems to have also occurred with other Kia models as well, which would be extremely costly for Kia. Since replacing has not resolved the defect, a recall will be the only fix. Wow...

Do you have a link for this site, in particular windshields? I'd like to see it for any trends, etc.

No, we have 0 deductible glass coverage through our insurance. I have just gone to safelite to have them replace each time. Always request OEM glass though if you have HUD!
