• Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... Hello and greetings from central Michigan.

I'm a long time Subaru owner, but probably have had at least one of just about every American and German badged vehicle over the past 40 years. A good friend recently purchased a Telluride and I was candidly more than a little impressed. The styling, safety features, and interior truly appear to belong on a much more expensive SUV.

I've been researching and pricing two models of Telluride an SX-Prestige-X Line and a SX-Prestige-X Pro. Other than the towing package and wheel sizes, what are the other significant differences?

Which would you purchase and why? I don't tow or spend any significant time off road.

If you plan to tow a lot and go off road at times, then go the X-Pro route. I looked at both and was honestly leaning the X-Pro route as the towing package would be worth it as it adds up a beefed up cooling system for towing. The tires on it make the ride a little rougher and noisier. I ended up buying an X-Line and love it so far. This was my first SUV and I've never towed anything in my life. Mostly I needed a hitch for a bike rack. The other differences are minimal - the X-Pro has a standard 3 prong 110v outlet in the back. Based on your not needing it to tow or go off road big-time, I would recommend the X-Line. The only thing I wish I had on my X-Line are better tires. Mine came with Michelin Primacy LTX tires. They're ok, but not great in heavy rain or even light snow. I'm planning to put on Michelin CrossClimate 2 tires in the fall. Being that you live in an area that gets a real winter, I would negotiate with the dealer to swap out the tires and get better all-weather tires.

I chose the x pro because whether or not I tow or ever go off road at all, I wanted the 18 inch wheels. I despise 20 inch. Give me a beefy tire any day. I disagree that they are louder than the 20 inch in any significant amount. I drove either a Suburban or a Sequoia for more than 23 years before going with the Telly a year ago. Even 18 inch wheels are on the big side for me.
Otherwise, the differences are minor. Find a good chart that outlines the differences in the trim lines. I sure have enjoyed the x-pro!
