• Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... Had the first service done Saturday, including checking all 4 current TSBs, my car production date falls in the span for each of them. They forgot to reset my maintenance minder, so I'll be trying to find how to do that. They did find a fault with one of my headlights, not with the other, so they've got that ordered. Same with the seat belt, somehow one was an issue but not the others, waiting on the replacement to come in for that too. Weird on both being only one of multiples being an issue. The Ujoint wasn't a problem. They did the software update but I'm not sure if it improved anything with Android Auto but the bluetooth issue does seem better. I can't ever remember if Android Auto is supposed to be open on your phone and then you connect before you turn the car on, or turn on the car first then connect then open it via the car screen or some other combo/order. I took a picture of the screen now, I noticed the indicator when your phone is connected showing signal strength, battery remaining, etc. looks a bit different, at least I think so, I couldn't find a photo showing before. I attached a photo of it now here. Definitely different is the weather section in that it indicates clearly that the weather is pulled from HD radio stations. I had to reset all the station presets, time, changes to other settings. All that gets wiped when they do the software update.

The only problem I had at the appointment was a chip in the paint on the rear hatch. When we bought the car there was a poorly done touch up that we didn't see until we got home. We think it probably happened at the factory for them to have touch up paint. It was a truly crap job, all bubbly, not quite dime size. Our local dealership includes wash and vacuum as part of all service appointments and their car washer machine or person was a bit too industrious and scraped part of that touch up right off. My Telly was in the parking lot when we arrived to pick it up and it was the first thing I saw, bare metal shining through the paint about the size of a pencil eraser. So aggravating. The service advisor tried to put it off on the dealer we bought from and said they aren't responsible for damage which is a crap line and both he and I knew it. I told him I didn't request the car wash so it was indeed on them to fix it but that I'd be satisfied with a touch up paint pen or bottle so I could fix it myself. He balked at that so I asked to speak to the service manager. I guess they realized I was willing to make a stink and that giving me the touch up paint would be far cheaper than repainting the hatch, so they are ordering that for me as well. They didn't have any as mine is the Everlasting Silver and I guess that's a brand new color for Kia. So I'll be going back once they get the headlight, touch up paint, and seat belt parts in. My husband caught a glimpse of the screen or printout that showed the headlight was going to be $500 to order in. Yikes!

You should start the car before hooking up your phone to the USB cable. If you hook the phone up first, it may not work correctly, That's from my own experience. It has always worked when I started the car first.

I always start the car then plug in my phone right after.

Do you open the app on your phone once you've started the car and connected the cable or do you open it on the car screen? I work and shop so close to home that I'm not often in the car long enough to bother opening Android Auto but I would like to know the steps so I can use it properly when I need it. I took a very long road trip with it within a week or two after buying but we fought with it the entire time.

What was wrong with your headlight? Do you have a SX(P)?

There is a TSB about the daytime running lights, problem with the connection point of the wires. I'd notice that sometimes the DRLs would not both be on. It wasn't all the time and wasn't continuously on or off during a drive. I wasn't positive it was an issue as it was so intermittent. I could sort of tell when behind another vehicle where there was a reflection of the lights, one would show and the other wouldn't. It's hard to tell as it could just be the angle of the car in front relative to mine or the angle of the sun or a bad wax job or whatever. I don't drive very far so I just thought it was my imagination but then I saw there was a TSB for that specific problem so I asked them to check while it was in for regular service. I guess the connector was bad. I have an EX.

You should not have to open the app. When you set up AA in the car you gave it permission to open the app automatically when it detects that car is connected.

So a weird thing happened when I left for lunch today. I had Spotify playing from my phone just via Media this morning on the drive in, didn't have Android Auto open on the phone or the car and didn't have the cable connected. Same set up at lunch, music started playing immediately from Spotify via bluetooth as expected. I checked my phone at a light and noticed Android Auto was open on the phone. The USB cord was not connected. I didn't have time to check it further. Is that normal? I've never seen it do that before. Wondering if somehow the software update made it possible to use Android Auto via bluetooth? The car screen just showed as normal, Android Auto wasn't open there. cliffnerd5, is that what you were describing it should do?

Uncheck the box that says to open AA via bluetooth in the AA settings.
