  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... What does "addendum" next to the price of the Telluride imply? Please don't tell me it is an upcharge over MSRP!!

You'll have to be more specific. On a window sticker? Online? Where are you reading this?

at a dealer's inventory site

specifically reads addendum $6500 then the price of the telluride

That's a combination of dealer add-ons plus a market adjustment over msrp.

I am in Houston, TX

You're referring to Joe Myers Kia then. Yes, the Addendum is an addition to MSRP. Joe Myers has been charging above MSRP as a starting point since the beginning - March / April. I don't know what they actually sell at, but presumably above MSRP.

If you ONLY want to get to MSRP, then your best bet would be Fort Bend KIA in Richmond - make an order with them (they used to take orders at MSRP - but watch out for dealer adds / fees). You could try Archer KIA, but at a minimum they will insist on about $800 in dealer adds (paint protection / warranty and window tint). Depending on the trim level, they may also ask for a positive market adjustment.

You could call Westside Kia - but more than likely they will try to get you to come in and then throw the market adjustment on you.

What trim are you looking for?

and that is why I will not by my vehicle from that dealership or use it for service. It is a disgrace and should be illegal. Isn't that called "price gouging in other industries?

second from the top. You seem quite knowledgeable on this subject. How much "profit does a dealer make on this car?

What's your real question? Do you want to buy a Telluride or not? Do you want to wait until dust settles as you said in a previous message? Other posters have written about deal making strategies with the dealers, and "invoice" price is posted online at Edmunds. Profit can vary as there are sales quota incentives that dealers receive too - not just the markup over invoice. For the Telluride, the markup over invoice is relatively small - around 5%. Currently, the market is easily supporting sales at MSRP - and even more than MSRP for anxious buyers. There are dealers who will place a sold order at MSRP less KMF incentives. At least one dealer on this forum has committed to Costco pricing - which is presumably slightly below MSRP - but that dealer is in Indiana. In the Houston area, most if not all dealerships have markups / dealer adds applied to in-stock, unsold Tellurides as demand currently outstrips supply. We've had extensive discussions on this topic in the Forum under various headings- read up on those.

I do want to buy. Not in a rush but just urks me that dealerships are (gouging) because they can. Like selling gasoline after a storm at $5 a gallon which is illegal. Yes I will wait till the dust settles just am annoyed how some (all?) dealers seem to steal more if they can get away with it. I will take all of your above advise. Thank you

I tried Westside Kia three times and they were unwilling to help. Even stated they were unable to place an order for what I wanted. I went to Fort Bend Kia and placed an order the next day.

Love that dark Moss. I would probably look at EX. Not sure what I would miss on that model as I can't get my hands on a brochure anywhere.

I am assuming you live in Houston as well.

Houston area...Katy here.

Off Barker Cypress and Clay. Question...... do you sleep?????????

I live in Houston as well. I've been in contact with every dealership in the area, and live about a mile from Beck and Masten. To be fair, they WERE offering the lowest price in the area, but still well above MSRP and their customer service was abhorrent. A salesperson actually yelled at me because I had found a better deal elsewhere and insisted the numbers I showed him couldn't be real because he gets a 'report' every night.

Well, they were. I ultimately placed my order with Van Griffith Kia in Granbury, TX. EXCELLENT customer service through every step of the process, placed the order for MSRP and didn't add on any crazy fees or try to surprise us at the financing table. What you're told is what you get. I can't recommend them enough. It was completely worth the drive, and I would do business with them again.

I place an order at Fort Bend Kia last month at MSRP for SX P AWD w/ towing package. This was after going to Community KIA with $5K over MSRP and then I talked them down to $2K above MSRP; however, I still walked away after telling them I am not paying more than MSRP.
