Twin Turbo V6 on way?

Stopped by my local dealership and made an “offer” on ordering an SX Prestige AWD fully loaded. Manager said, “I would wait if I were you,” and I ask why? He said that the Stinger motor is going to become an option in the Telluride. I said, cool, I’ll definitely wait. Maybe 6 months out, but who knows. We travel at elevation a lot, and a boosted motor is nice to have at 8000 ft.

there's a new, big 2.5l turbo 4 coming. I'm pretty sure it's a 2.5. has anyone else heard or read this?

There’s also been articles noting there’s accommodations for electrification in the platform (plus the concept version) so there’s likely a hybrid or plugin hybrid version in development to compete with the Explorer Hybrid and other electrified 3 rows in the pipeline.

There is absolutely zero chance of a this happening on the 2020 model. None

This dealer is spouting stuff he knows nothing about. Nothing about the Telluride chassis is compatible with the TT platform.

If Genesis launches a three row SUV, I'll suggest it is logical to forecast it will have turbo or supercharged engine. It will have to to compete in the Ultra Luxury market. Though this is probably a few years down the road. Pun intended

GV80 is closer than that but it's not clear if it's 3row, looks more like a 2 row but it competes with other luxury 3 row:

With that much slope in the back, if it is a 3 row, it will be lacking any respectable head room. I really don't know why the designers are doing this on most of the 3 rows. That is largely why I have interest in the Telluride. It is more boxy which makes for better use of space. You cannot be much more boxy than my current ride, a Ford Flex, and I love the functionality of it. I can cram a bunch of gear for work or play in there and because the roof is flat, there is decent headroom in the back. What I would give to get a Flex style body on the new RWD Ford/Lincoln platform. I am also an odd duck that loves station wagons. I am honestly debating about just keeping my Flex for a winter ride and getting a Cadillac CTS-V Wagon for my summer car - just not sure I can justify $45-55K on a 6-8 year old vehicle. A 500+ HP RWD wagon would be fun though!

Thanks. It is a '96, last year of the common V8 RWD large format wagons. I am impressed that you caught it being a Roadmaster so quick! I may be parting ways with it, my wife let me pick up a 1979 Mini (Right Hand Drive) and I was supposed to get rid of the wagon. It has been a year, but I think she would be upset if a new set of wheels and tires showed up for the RMW. I was hoping to tuck 20s under her with a 1.5" drop. For now, I may just see how long she will let me keep it in the shop.

I am not a member on the Roadmaster Forum. I am on the GMLongroof Forum, but have been inactive for a while. Been focused on new car research and working out a couple of electrical gremlins on the Mini.

I don't want to change the subject of the twin turbo engine rumors - but I'm a Roadmaster/Fleetwood enthusiast. The Mini does look really nice...

Agree, most likely easier to crank these out with the same engine, and will add new options depending on demand, etc. next year.

Twin-Turbo V6 Discussed For Kia Telluride

The only engine available currently is a 3.8-liter V6 producing 291 horsepower and 262 lb-ft of torque. We asked Kia's product planners if the 3.3-liter twin-turbo V6 from the Stinger and K900 could make an appearance in the Telluride and we were told: "it was discussed."

In the Stinger and several Genesis models, the twin-turbo V6 produces 365 hp, which is a healthy bump over the naturally aspirated model. Of course, all of the cars that use this engine have a rear-wheel-drive layout, so Kia would likely have to develop a different transmission for use in the Telluride.
While Kia wouldn't commit to the inclusion of the turbo engine, we were told we "may see it in the future" if there is demand. So if you'd like to see the Telluride get more power, be sure to tell your local dealership that you would have spent more to get a turbocharged engine.

Go drive a BMW X5 or a Range Rover that are turbos or supercharged. Oh, the thrill! Then, while you may not see a need for it, you'll understand why some of us want it.

I have the Stinger GT2 and a Mustang, I know the thrill of it, but it's in a vehicle that you drive in a spirited fashion. An SUV isn't that vehicle for me and totally not needed in a land yacht IMO.

Apparently you don’t tow anything either.

No, I do not, but I wouldn't imagine that the tow rating will be effected by the engine as much as the frame of the vehicle can take. I could be wrong though.
