• Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... Is this a quote from something? I’m particularly interested in key words: “standard” and “subscription-free”

It's a quote from Wikipedia if you look up UVO. It's also from when UVO first came out a few years back...

The Kia UVO Link service is absolutely a Paid feature . UVO link " Care " is $9.99 a month . Kia UVO " Plus " is $22.50 A MONTH . ( adds remote start and unlock ) and UVO Link " Ultimate " is 29.70 a month adds Alexa and Google home to car function . I have had my 2019 Optima SXL for 6 months and it has the " ultimate" package ... and it has been the most poorly integrated , buggy and unreliable feature I have ever had from a major car manufacturer . Most times it times out because it cant connect . Or it does connect ... but it says it cant and crashes ... despite having actually processed the command ! Kia has gone for this " Web App " feature and not a Key Fob Remote start ... not because its better but because it is an additional revenue stream . I will NOT pay for this feature ... and as much as I love my KiA ... in 2 years when my Lease is up , I will be looking elsewhere ! Every owner of a 2019 is telling me the same thing ! Listen up KiA !!!!

I decided to email the KIA Complaint line 2 days ago specifically about UVO and the newly announced costs. I expressed frustration in the quality of the app, the fact that Hyundai is giving 3 years free, the cost of the plans, and suggested that remote start should be included in the basic free package. Here is there direct vmail reply!

“Hello this is Corey with the Telluride UVO program we hope that you're still enjoying your 2020 in Telluride. I was just following up with you based on the web inquiry about the concern that you had for UVO pricing. If you want to go ahead and further discuss the pricing for any of the packages feel free to give us a call at our number 844-886-9411 Right now we will happily take the feedback regarding pricing, but unfortunately if you're looking to have remote start in the future after your one year it will come at a cost. Please reference your case number if you have any questions when you call, thank you so much and you have a great day…”

Your typical lame corporate reply. “Yes, thank you for your feedback, and we’ll be sure not to take it into consideration”. Obviously Corey and his team are under pressure from KIA to create some kind of revenue to justify their paychecks and app development.

What email address did you use to contact them? Would love to craft another complaint email.

I got the same exact phone call today about my complaint I filed. So disappointed in this and that they don't seem to care how bad they are price gouging. This is really bait and switch with the way they didn't advertise pricing at the time of sale and gate features behind a subscription model. I am the only person in my immediate family to own a Kia and this crap pretty much gauruntees none will buy a Kia in the future.

Looking into an aftermarket option and will not even consider paying for their buggy uvo app.

I got the call from KIA customer service after I submitted a complaint about it, they totally interpreted wrongly that I wanted to know the pricing of UVO subscription. I explained them what my complaint was for but CS was resistant about UVO pricing and remote start that remote start is available and you can have it for 22.50 monthly but you could SAVE if you pay yearly, what the heck?
I gave them references of Palisade, other new and old cars event the base models has this remote start on Key fob. But she was very much sure that UVO is correct and perfect choice to get Remote start on Telluride.

I just received this email letting me know I have UVO for one year, ultimate package, which I already knew. But, Instill can’t find pricing for the packages even though the email has a link to find info
on the Kia Owner’s portal. There’s a Uvo manual on the portal, but no package detail I could find. Anyone else get this and/or find the package detail?
I got the same email with no answers on future costs or news on how they intend to improve to the services. I take it they are getting a lot of questions about this and are waiting to formulate a corporate response.

So, if I'm reading this correctly....you get 1 year complimentary "UVO Ultimate" subscription, then must either pay $225 (Plus) or $297 (Ultimate) annually (need to click the "Compare Package") thereafter if you want remote start?

Not really sure how this compares with other car subscription services.

Maybe but it's so slow I wouldn't pay a penny for something being so slow
I got 5 years of UVO services at no cost when I purchase Telluride SX AWD in May. And got a email confirming that. It's also on my purchase contract. I guess they changed their contract term.

The UVO "Lite" package is included for 5 years...but has very limited features. Is this what you're talking about?

As someone who doesn’t have the UVO app, is it really the same tech as a key fob?

I assume key fob start, while remote, would have to be within a certain distance of the vehicle. While the UVO app would rely on talking to an internet-based service that then communicates with the car irrelevant of the distance of the app user.
Thanks

Wonder if installing your own remote start would void the warranty?

When I set up my UVO on my 2020 Telluride the Expiration was blank, I just figured it was good till the end of my lease.

If you go to the kia.com website. Click on the little robot on the left, and type int uvo cost. The reply is:

"UVO eServices is a subscription-free information system for your Kia vehicle. It provides you with an innovative in-vehicle connectivity experience. "

So Kia's current official stand is it is free.
I’m sorry but you’re incorrect. I followed your search and looked deeper and found on Kia’s site additional information you missed.

Also I called UVO @ 844-886-9411 and asked about the subscription, there are three packages; the top package is the plus package and it’s $225 a year or $22.50 a month.

Wow. I am sorry, I guess should have HAD A TIME MACHINE TO GO 7 MONTHS INTO THE FUTURE before posting. But you are 100% correct, 7 months later they released more information that was not available 7 months ago. It was a lapse in my judgement for not making sure anything I post is bullet proof for at least 54 years into the future.

Of course, I will not hold you to the same standard you held me to. Feel free to post anything you think is relative and accurate up to the time you post it. I will not go back 7 months later and take issue with it because things change over time.
