Bad Dealer Dealings - List Your Bad Dealer Experience

Booooo Jack Daniels Kia in New Jersey!! I'm a repeat customer. Well, I've been trying to buy an SX prestige AWD, Moss with Grey Nappa, Towing package from Jack Daniels Kia in NJ. The Telluride I want has been on their lot since AT LEAST September 16th, when I first took notice of it on their website. It's taken me 4, FOUR, salespeople to finally respond and follow through with emails and texts to get an out the door price on the $47,540 MSRP window sticker price VIN: 5XYP5DHC1LG042472. Finally, today, one of their sales people, "Alexander" followed through after multiple nudges. Today's price, on a Telluride that has been on their lot since at least September 16th, is....wait for it....drum roll please..... $60,000....with an out the door price with tax, fees etc. is $65,414.90. Are they INSANE!!!! What J***-O** is going to pay that? Please tell me none of you are that insane. :) Looks like I'm going to Indiana for my next Kia :)

Karma will bite them in the ass eventually. When the hoopla dies down on the Telluride, or customers sour on it for some reason, they will remember which dealers treated them fairly.

I just located a Moss Green SX w/ Prestige at Fette Kia in Clifton, New Jersey. Website shows the Kia MSRP with a strike through that says call for price. I contacted them with interest, and the sales rep told me he would have the sales manager call me back. 5 minutes later the sales rep called me and stated that due to "limited supply, the rare color option, and the fact that KIA has shut down production" there would be a market adjusted price. The new price for the vehicle would be $71,000. I repeated the number 3 times thinking I perhaps heard it wrong, even stating that was easily $23K above MSRP. He stated that was the final offer.
Holy Hell!!😮😮😮 You could buy a Mercedes, BMW, Range Rover, Lexus or even a Porsche cheaper than that. With that kind of a price point who would be dumb enough to put it in a KIA?!?! I love the Telly don’t get me wrong and I’m in the market for one. However there’s some factors about KIA there’re still trying to change. KIA is just a glorified Daewoo that got a come up right now, but if these dealers are playing games like that it’s gonna hurt KIA’s image even more and people will walk. That’s just ridiculously insane.

It WILL come back to hurt these shady dealers. I've been thinking about who's pocketing the extra $4K, $5K, $10K? It's not dealership employees and it's not KIA! I'm sorry KIA corporate really needs to step in here and reel in these dealerships. It WILL hurt the branding the end. I'm tired of ”whatever the market will bear” or whatever the hell they are calling it. To me it’s just ripping off hard working consumers and people like me who don’t earn gazillions of dollars and have been loyal to the KIA brand (9+ years for me) are getting trampled on, this whole situation is absurd !
 
No one is putting a gun next to the heads of the idiots who have no problem dropping $7k extra on these things. If everyone thinks your way, there would still be a few thousand units sitting on lots. Too many idiots in this world, SAD.
 
Its us consumers that are allowing dealers to mark the Telly up. If we want something bad enough, we buy it. Personally, I wouldn't and didn't pay more than MSRP. Imagine paying 60+K for a vehicle and the next year its worth 30K with 10k miles on it?! Ouch

Good luck with “corporate.” It’s hard to find anyone to talk to. At least anyone with any authority. If you get anywhere please let the forum members know. Perhaps multiple complaints from more individuals might make some noise. Strength in numbers and all that.

A good friend of mine found a vehicle he was interested but it was located out of state. The KIA dealer would not write a lease deal for an out of state purchase. He spoke to KIA Finance and they said there is no reason for that to happen. Dealers write out of state deals all the time. But management at this dealer refused.

All corporate did was take my complaint down and apologize. They said they would reach out to the regional managers and let them handle it. I wasn’t impressed and the woman didn’t seem that friendly or concerned. I ended up leaving reviews on yelp, Facebook and google for the dealership.

Kia of Chula Vista (California) - welcome to the bad dealer experience list and thanks so much for hanging up on me, that was awesome. In short, they have the model/trim/option package and color of the Telluride coming in. Kia corporate actually directed me to talk with them after helping me find the vehicle I want in-transit. The salesman argued with me almost non-stop - absolutely no level of customer service in the conversation and I have a particular distaste for salesmen that misrepresent things.

They'll have my car in a few weeks but they won't be getting my business.
