• Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... What would we lose when the free UVO trial is over and we don't subscribe to it?? Some of us have only 5 months left!

I am guessing that some navigation functionality will stop working, in addition to the UVO APP functionality, i.e. remote start, lock/unlock, temperature control, POI upload, etc....

One useful feature of the UVO button on the rear view mirror cluster is the ability to set destination address while moving. Manually typing only works when the vehicle is stopped.

Well, yesterday UVO apparently lost its connection to whatever server it connects to so when I tried to set the destination it said something to the effect of "connection couldn't be made", "use the keyboard to enter address". This time I was stationary, but the point is that UVO apparently needs to connect to a remote server for it to work with voice commands.

I guess support for voice command will be gone after the free trial is over!!

I think you are correct. My Nav couldn’t find any POIs or addresses via voice control until I activated UVO. I’ve also had the loss of connection issue you describe and voice control wouldn’t find anything.

I’m hoping UVO can be purchased for just a month at a time. I’d buy it for road trips. No way I’m paying $30 a month continuous.

UVO probably requires a cellular connection. The cost of such a connection if you have cellular service already is typically ten dollars a month. KIA probably pays substantially less than that. They are providing other services as a part of the package so the monthly cost will be more however it would be unsustainable as a business decision to charge substantially more. UVO in the future will probably include remote tune ups of vehicles in the same way as it is presently done with Teslas

yes, they would typically buy airtime in bulk so it would be much cheaper than what you out I would be able to get.

Not owning a Tesla, I am not sure, but it looks like their APP usage and firmware upgrades are baked into the one time purchase price of the vehicle, and not maintained through a subscription service. That is why Tesla it’s so innovative today, but I would image that they would follow the industry sometime in the future.

Many people here stated that they will not be subscribing after the trial is over due to the cost, including myself. Not only do we lose most of the APP functionality but we may also lose some essential built-in navigational aides.

Is there anything else people have missed when the UVO subscription expires?

UVO had better step-up their game before they additional problems such as law suites.
I'm just saying. Get your IT staff together and chew some butt. There's no reason for failure.
