So I’ve got the ambient lighting on all 4 doors and dash. I have the brightness maxed-out at 10 through the main touchscreen and the light is barely noticeable. In fact, if I didn’t tell you it was there, I don’t think you would notice it...it is very very very subtle/dim. I asked my wife her thoughts and she agrees. We’re actually wondering if we should take it to the dealer to get checked out. Is this normal? Anyone else feel this way? In the videos I’ve seen online it looks much brighter. My wife has a Subaru Ascent and hers is very noticeable, but nice, not too bright. Again, mine you can hardly even tell it’s there at all. ??

If you post a picture, maybe I can compare it to mine and I can post a pic of mine as well

Wow. Yours are very bright. I will take a picture of mine on level 10 with Refreshing Sea. I feel the same as the original poster - mine is very dim. I also got the lighting package option where the button is inside of the cup holder area. Those lights are for the feet areas in the front cabin, and brighter. But your door trim and glove compartment area are significantly brighter than mine.

Comparing brightness with cameras is pointless. Each camera will show a different level.

I will say that compared to the console lights are dim. But way bright enough for me.

Thanks for all the info guys. I went out to the garage last night after seeing the photo above. As mentioned, the footwell/cup holder lighting is pretty darn bright. I think that the light radiating up from the floor boards is simply drowning out the door/dash lighting and making it appear less bright. I notice if I turn off the footwell lights the door/dash lights “come alive” a little more. Also, ANY amount of natural light (even at sunset or sunrise) drowns the door/dash lights out considerably. My guess is, those who have the footwell lighting (and ON) probably think the door/dash lighting is pretty dim. Those that don’t probably think it’s adequate. So I guess I can kill the footwell lighting if I want to notice my door/dash lights a little more :). A dimming feature for the footwell lights would be nice. Seeing that photo above made me think “man I have way more light inside my car than that” meaning it’s simply never that dark in my car....even at night.

Yeah I think it's supposed to be subtle, but they could have made it a little brighter. My wife had ours set on pink and I didn't even know it was there. Waiting in a dark parking lot tonight I started playing around with the settings and certain colors show up much better. Here's the purple with and without camera flash on brightness of 5.

I bought my SXP today. Ambient lights are barely noticeable even at the 10 setting. There’s not much difference from zero to 10. I suspect something is wrong. I’ve seen others post this issue. Any suggested solutions?

Are you talking about daytime or night? Mood/ambient lighting on most auto brands is designed primarily for evening/night and if the previous vehicles I have owned with it ( Mercedes and Escalade), it was barely visible during the day......nighttime it was really nice!

Night time when it’s dark.

Hmmmm.....that doesn't sound quite right.....the videos I have seen here on the forum of the "mood lighting" shows the lighting being very nice. The footwell lighting way too bright.

They are very dim. Check colors ... some colors are more noticeable than others like red. I wish it were brighter too... I don't even notice it anymore.

Ok, thanks for the feedback

What do you do to adjust the lighting? I can't figure it out.

are there other lights that light up the cabin when one opens the doors?

I thought I would post my discovery on ambient lighting. Sorry if it has already been posted. I had noticed sometimes the ambient lighting was bright and other times dim. I assumed it was how dark it was.

But after adjusting the light color before leaving one day, I noticed they went considerably dimmer as soon as I shifted to drive. Went bright again when out in park. So must be a "safety" feature so it isn't distracting.

I barely notice it as well..I blame it on the light pollution of the city.

I am willing to bet they would be more noticeable in a rural setting or highway with less street lights/traffic lights/LED billboards/building lights etc

It would be cool to find out if there was a way to hack it so it stayed in bright mode all the time.

Hmm I didn't notice that, I'll check that out for sure!

Edit: Just went out to my garage to check, sure enough they dim when shifting out of P
