Bad Dealer Dealings - List Your Bad Dealer Experience

My wife and I just stopped into Kia of Cherry Hill, NJ over the weekend to test drive a Telluride. I've been doing a ton of research here on this forum and on the web and wanted to see it and make sure it drove as nice as I've read about. The car was great, but the experience was not. I told them right away that I'm interested in a SX which they didn't have and that we wanted to see the car in person and test drive. They didn't seem too thrilled about that and the atmosphere was pretty uncomfortable. After the test I said I was really happy with the car and asked if they do orders for SX's. They said no. "We only sell the cars on the lot." They didn't ask if I'd be interested in finding out when one arrived or anything. Guess you just have to show up and see what they have? I've read on this forum that some dealers will take orders and some won't. Some require big deposits some don't. Just sucks because it's the closest Kia dealership, but I did not and do not want to deal with them in the future. Also, I don't want to play the game of constantly searching and trying to find the Telluride we want to only get there and experience things like a 10k markup as mentioned in other posts. I'm most likely just going to place an order with Muncie and get the Telluride we want.
I’ve in NJ and did not waste my time with the NJ dealers. Got in touch with Muncie and ordered through the Costco program - as promised by Jason - was below MSRP. Now I wait -

This is strange. Kia had a $1,000 bonus for financing good through 1/2/2020. It seems to be gone, but now there is a straight $1,000 bonus. I can't find any regional bonus offers for New England/MA, but would love to "stack" the financing and straight bonus (better then the $400 veteran's bonus). Does anyone know what the deal is? Also, getting lots of calls from dealers saying I can now order exactly the car I want - the portal is open for dealers to do so. Another dealer in Keene tells me he has "3 of exactly the car I want" - odd - yesterday he had none. I expect to be a Telluride owner by weekend...with or without being able to bring one home (maybe having to wait months for an ordered one). But need to know the incentives before I go sign on the dotted line. Also, Union Plus discount seems to be only $100 and Kia limits discounts/bonuses so you can only get 2 total.

Stoney, you should run the numbers on leasing and refinancing the residual vs financing from the start if you have any willingness to lease. Currently on Kia.com they are showing $4010 in "lease cash" on a 24 month lease or $2530 on a 36 month. If my math is correct, and assuming interest rates dont inflate too much a couple years from now, its worth leasing to take advantage of that discount where we seemingly cant get any others.

Thanks - running the numbers now. Can only find LX lease specials but still looking.

Stoney, go to “calculate payment” and play with the numbers and they show all available incentives.

I've never sold one over MSRP. No dealer ad ons either. $1000 finance with Kia cash and still $400 for veterans discount until January 2nd on current incentives.

Ran the numbers...trouble is ordering means all current offers are irrelevant - offers at time of actual purchase are what will be applied (had that written into the contract.) 12-16 weeks for delivery, but wanted to get "in the queue" as the wait seems to be getting longer. Thank you to you and everyone for all the info & help!

Stoney, did you end up ordering from Lev? My experience with Kia (have bought 5 of them to date) is that while the finance cash and loyalty cash change, lease cash is rarely advertised and rarely reduced much. It’s done largely to benefit the dealers who want the ability to have 2-3 year old “certified” Tellurides back to sell again.

Yes, Lev Kia - Ken Russian; when we first went to him a few weeks ago they didn't have one we could drive (we sat in the Moss Green one and looked at it, put the seats down, but it was sold). He strongly discouraged financing. When we did the calculations it was very close. But we have a young driver in the house who would not be able to drive on the lease, as I understand it, because of age, so went with a purchase.

Hello the incoming one is sold but I do have an allocation if you want to order one it will be about 3 months.
Hi there! Can you explain how the allocation works? Our dealer had a stack of orders - ours, of course, is on the bottom, and he asked us to make sure we are serious about purchasing the Telluride as we were taking one of their slots. Are dealer's limited on how many Tellurides they can order? In other words, if there are 30 orders ahead of ours, it sounds like we have to wait until a slot opens up before the vehicle can be ordered? Or are all orders put in, and West Point just sends whatever number of cars that the dealer is allocated each month?

I believe vehicles are allocated by sales volume a bigger store will get more than a Mom & Pop kind of place. But more importantly they want you to buy from stock so they may pressure you with these tactics.
