• Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... I’ve been driving my new 2020 Kia Telluride SX Prestige for two weeks. I have some thoughts.

I’m here to answer questions because I’ve seen a lot of posts and questions about the new Telluride.

I also have a 2017 Kia Optima SXL that I love.

I can post pictures of whatever you all would like to see.

Some of my favorite features:

-It is very fast in sport. I honestly have no way to describe it. It without a doubt would beat my 2.0L Turbo Optima in a drag race. It takes off so fast it feels like a rocket but I guess that’s a perk of a V6 engine? Anyways, I love it.

-The ability to remote start it from the myuvo app is amazing

-I love the quality of the Harman Kardon sound system. Of course I have similar sound system in my Optima. -The Quantum Logic Surround feature does perform better in my Optima I think due to the smaller cabin side and the driver being closer to the speakers. I feel like the middle row of seats in the Telluride sort of blocks some of the sounds coming from the back speakers. -The bass boosting feature makes up for it. It really bumps lol. https://www.androidfreewares.com

-The interior is beautiful, the (imitation) wood grain looks amazing.

-I like that you can change the colors of the interior ambient lighting. It’s just a fun little touch.

-I use those cargo hooks way more than I thought I would.

Things that Lowkey bother me:

-The second row seats have a nice feature where you can push a button and the seat slides forward so that people can climb into the third row seats. But, I really wish that a button could also put the seat back into regular position. The seat is fairly heavy... Not so easy for children and even weak adults to push back. It would be nice to have that option.

-I wish the front sunroof shade was power. I know that’s a lot to ask but it would have been a nice touch, especially on the Prestige model. Granted, I am used to a power sunroof shade in my Optima.

-I wish the driver didn’t have to go to an entirely separate menu screen to simply turn on the rear climate.

And finally... the little thing that irritates me the most: the “move” button on the steering wheel that you push up or down to skip to the next song is BACKWARDS. In my optima, to skip to the next song you push the button upward. To skip to the next song in the Telluride, you push the button downward. I’m not sure why but this really irks me because I have to retrain my brain every time I switch cars... which I do very frequently.

Anyways, these are just a few things that I personally love/ think about about the most. I am happy to answer questions about anything else you would like to know!

I wasn't aware a V6 was available on a Kia Optima. I had a 2015 Optima EX and a 4 cylinder was the only engine available.

Thanks for posting, I was wondering if you could use the UVO website to auto start the Telluride instead of the app. I'm not able to bring my phone into work, and without an auto start on the key fob, I would have no relief from the harsh northern winters. Thanks!

Nice write up. I ordered a week ago through Jason Fox at Muncie and now the waiting game begins.

Is there a way to change the lighting on the gauge cluster? I prefer BMW orange or Audi red. Several do ambient light options but few, if any do a gauge light option.

The upside to a manual shade is it can't fail.
In truth, my '15 Genesis is power and works flawlessly.
I wish I could opt or no moonroof and cut the weight, cost, and overhead glass.

Funny you say that, I got a sunroof on my EX, but kind of realize in Florida, where the sun is way to hot, I'll never open the sunroof, lol.

In my wife’s Mazda, if we both have our keys but one leaves it in the car, when the other goes to lock the car with the button the car locks but beeps differently, basically saying it detects another key in the vehicle. What does the Kia do in these situations?

You can lock it with a key in the car though...just lock it with the lock button on the other fob.

From my experience, you can't lock it with one fob if the other is still in the vehicle. They both have to be out of the vehicle to lock it. I recall this because it took awhile to figure out why it wouldn't lock one day since I wasn't aware the second key was in the vehicle. I eventually found it in the center console.

We do it all the time.. I guess ours is just a freak vehicle.

Manual sun shade advantage: ya just reach up and pull it shut....no having to look up at the overhead console to make sure you are punching the right button!

What are your thoughts of the suede panels and roof interior? Feels like a pain to clean with young kids

I love the suede look and feel....kinda like the "ultimate luxury" and I think it is one of those things that makes the top end Telluride stand out beyond most of the luxury brands out there......I'm pleased to have it. That being said......I'm way past the "young kids" stage of life and would NOT want to have it if I was in the stage. I even worry about adults with dirty hands who might grab the top of the door opening instead of the handle to assist in getting in and out! It will not be easy to clean..... The suede should be an "option" for those who want it.

Totally agree with you on the +/- radio buttons! I also wish the radio controls were on the right hand side of the steering wheel! These are used most often and I like 85-90% of the population are right handed, would prefer the most used buttons on the most common dominant hand side! Also wish the 2nd rows were a little less manual, the sunroof was power, and the third row had power folding. But I LOVE this car!

I had a Lincoln MKX that had a automatic sunshade. It was nice but the disadvantage was you couldn’t tilt open the roof until the shade fully opened. I like the manual in that you can open the tilt to let some hot air out and then mostly close the shade to keep the sun out.
