Dealer run around?

I'm starting to feel like I'm getting a bit of a runaround from my dealer. I posted in another thread (Cancelled orders) a week or so ago about my ETA disappearing but I felt I should just start a new thread regarding this. So, to recap, I placed an order for an Everlasting Silver S FWD with nothing additional around 10/25. I knew there was going to be a wait. Original estimate from my salesperson would be most likely late December/early January. No big deal.

On December 23rd I sent a text just following up to see if there was any new information. I was told there was an ETA of 2/23. Ok, cool. Getting into the home stretch and anxiously checking the forum for a VIN! No new information and January comes and goes. On 2/4 I text again making sure we are still on track. This is when I'm told there is no longer an ETA on it just that the order is submitted and that it shows an internal number but no VIN. Salesman then says he will follow up with the Kia sales rep and let me know if there is anything he can do to help. After several days without hearing anything I text back asking for an update. I get a reply basically saying the ordering process is a mess right now and people are still waiting for orders they made in June. So I asked for the tracking number to hopefully have someone here check it and give me some clarity. Now most recently I'm told the sales manager said they (Kia) is so backed up and there is no internal number just a status icon showing the order is submitted and not fulfilled.

So am I just getting a run around here? I don't understand how I would go from having an ETA to not having one and not even having an internal tracking number. Am I overreacting and this is common or do I need to just look elsewhere?

Thanks

Not overreacting.. once a ETA is given you should not move backwards.. only seen this happen once and recently under a extreme one of a kind situation.. but even then the internal number was still available

Thanks. That's what I would have guessed. Very frustrating. To echo a lot of people on here...I wish I would have known more about this forum before I starting the process. I don't get the feeling this dealership has a good handle on this ordering process like you, Jason, and others do. I guess I'll be diving into the spreadsheet a little harder to find something. Looked into a couple already. One had a $1500 markup and the other seemed to be pretty close to MSRP but did mention they would "price match" another offer in writing. It has more options that I'm really looking for though.

For an S model, you may be best served by watching the spreadsheet / VIN lookup sites, filtering and chasing down your preferred combination. It's just a waiting game - may take a few weeks. I would expect that you can get to MSRP with $1000 finance rebate (another $400 military if qualified) for an S model - it is less likely to be pre-sold than an SX or SX-P. The S provides great value. I wouldn't count on your dealer to fulfill your order anytime soon - it should come at some point - but you might find what you want before then.

The other point to consider is that most of the FWD models will be sent to the Sunbelt states... so you may need to travel or have it shipped.

On VIN lookup site, Moritz Kia of Alliance in Fort Worth TX shows one built on 2/11 - so it'd be in transit. They are a good dealership and you get get to MSRP with them. Call them today... Moritz Kia of Alliance11210 NORTH FREEWAYFORT WORTH TX 76177

Sounds shady! I hadn't heard of people waiting that long for an S with no options. I hope you are able to find what you are looking for soon.

Very sorry to hear this. For every 1 of these stories I have 5 emails with people experiencing the same thing. It's daily and it's unfortunate. How many freaking dealers are going to say... Oh, person who placed order was fired or we misplaced order info or ya we ordered it but kia never gave us any information!? Really? Man, it's just constant chaos and it won't stop. KIA gets a bad name, customers are upset and I don't blame them one bit. Nobody should be treated like this.

I don't think you are over reacting at all! I have had a very similar ordering experience her in Massachusetts. We ordered on September 7th, the everlasting silver S. We were told 8-12 weeks. In order to not repeat your experience in this post, I will just say this...We Had basically the same run around. However, Dec.12th I decided to call KIA Corporate and see what I could find out. I had a feeling that it had not even been ordered. To my dismay, my vehicle had not even been ordered...Kia corporate filed a case number and promised to get back to me in a week. They did call me back to say that my order had been placed by the dealer. The date on the order was December 17th. So I kindly called the dealer and requested a refund of my deposit. I had to call and email for 2 weeks to get the refund processed. Needless to say, I am VERY disappointed and frankly shocked by this whole situation! I have NEVER seen a mess like this with any car dealer in my 45 years.

I am still in love with this vehicle, so I am trying to be patient and wait for the 2021 to be released. My husband and a few friends have told me that KIA should be dead to me, but I am going to give them until June to show me the 2021 and see if I can purchase one without all of the run around. If I am unable to easily purchase from them in July I will move on and find another vehicle, and if this happens...I WILL NEVER, EVER do business with KIA.

P.S. I am a cash buyer with no loan or trade in problems, therefore in my mind I am the easiest customer on the planet! Why are they doing this to potential customers???? Really bad business!

Good Luck!

Money Plays!

yes, and...
In the game of Blackjack, the term "money plays" means refers to a player walking up to a table and normally just playing one hand with money - without changing it for chips. ... The dealer though will sometimes tell the pit boss that "money is playing" (instead of casino chips).

So In that scenario I am the MONEY PLAYS Customer! RIGHT! or am I just an idiot?
