• Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... Does the Telluride have running boards or sidesteps for easy entry?

Dec 1? 🤔 I guess you looked at the date when it was posted. Although it was Dec 2 😅

I posted this, and this is my car.
The mud guards came in with the car.

....and then you had the running boards installed? If so, then I need to contact my dealer let them know it is indeed possible! I wonder how difficult it would be to do my own install?

Yeah... international time zones can be a doozy.

So.....as indicated in my previous post, I don't have "splash guards" and was concerned about that. Well, today was a sloppy snow day and you can see what is left on my running board. I really expected a lot worse.......if that's any indication, then I may forego trying to install splash guards. Of course , this is NOT like running through deep snow or heavy mud., but then I don't do that anyway:)IMG_0004.webp

Ok for those of who have sidesteps AND mudflaps on your Telluride. Did you have the sidesteps installed at the factory? My dealer insists mudflaps and sidesteps cannot be installed together but it is obvious from all the pictures on this forum that they can be together. I ordered my Telly with sidesteps and wondered if I could add them after the fact. If you installed both the sidesteps and mudflaps, did you need to place the sidesteps slightly back to allow the front mudflap to fit? I live in sloppy conditions and really would like both.

Saw this question on facebook and thought I would ask it here too.

Make sure the KT running boards are actually useful for your needs.

I have running boards on my X5. Too narrow to fit your foot on in any useful way and wide enough to make you "wide step" to get out so you don't get your pant leg dirty. I looked into removing them and it would be $1200 for trim pieces, install, and paint. Had them on 2 MDX and they were about half worthless.

I've seen very few useful SUV running boards. Navigator 10-15 years ago had full step hidden electric running boards that deployed when you opened the door and disappeared once you were under way. Fantastic and brilliant. They don't seem to have caught on.

This is my SX P with the running boards just installed this week.....I indicated that I would like the "splash guards" as well, but they said that the installation of the running boards does not allow for the installation of the factory "splash guards"....perhaps there is some after market ones that will work.

On my Sorento I just trimmed part of the splash guards and made them work. How To: Side Steps/Running Boards

Hi everyone
Thinking about installing the side steps as well but worried they might be just for looks and in the way instead of being useful and add wind noise at high speed.
Also saw this video and thought I'd share it. Would be great if they make one for the Telly.

I have the factory sidesteps ..... they look good , do not add any noise, do provide some assistance if you “are in need” ( as in short, older, etc)

Good to know. I will probably get the steps through the dealer soon. :)

Does anyone know of any installation instructions for these? I tried a google search and found nothing.

Bought my side steps and installed them myself. They are useful since we have little kids that need the extra step to get in. There are instructions included when I ordered side steps but aren’t super detailed. Make sure you have a torque wrench. I ended up breaking one bolt and had to rig a replacement T bolt. I would also recommend buying a plastic removal tool. Should be able to order one on Amazon or car part store.

Can you send me a picture , are they on your telluride? How much where the steps

It is an add on option when ordering one but not sure how functional they are vs just for aesthetics as I have not seen them in person yet. They do not come on any of the trim packages unless as an add on.
I have running boards. The are not needed but they look good! 😁

Cool, thanks. I have a garage full of tools and am pretty handy. I was just wondering if they had any weird processes or needed some proprietary tools. I'm guessing you used ramps or jack stands for clearance???

No weird processes. Definitely need a torque wrench and I recommend getting a plastic removal tool. Jack stands aren’t necessary as there should be plenty of clearance but may come in handy to help hold the sidesteps in place if you are doing the job solo as I was. Total job time was 3-4 hours. The bulk of my time was figuring out how to use the torque wrench. The nice part that took the longest was figuring out how to remove the previous molding. This is where the plastic removal tool will come in handy. Don’t throw anything away until you are completely installed. I ended needed a couple of couplers from the old molding. Good luck!

Got it, awesome. I don't even have the car yet but when I do, my wife wants to add these! I have two torque wrenches. Thanks for the tip on the plastic tool- I'll get that ahead of time as well.

I believe now they are in stock and when you order the vehicle you can just order them with it already installed. Save you a few hours! :)

True, but it gives me something to do on a lazy Sunday. May as well use all these tools for something. I used to wrench on motorcycles but gave up that life when the kid got here :-(
