  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... As my name indicates I am 'passing time' waiting for the resolution of this health care crisis and doing all I can to try and be safe and pray for the health of my family, friends, all those that are working to heal the sick, those looking for a cure and vaccine. Praying for the rest of the world that we can bring this pandemic to a quick end and begin to return for some kind of normalcy to our lives. As for the Telluride, I saw one at the KC auto show in March of 2019 and immediately went to a dealer and drove an AWD SX with Prestige pk and decided it was the next car I wanted.

Before placing an order I decided to test drive all the other contenders on my list and because it might be the last new car I purchased for a long time I meant to make the rounds which I did test driving nearly every mid to large size SUV out there. I kept coming back to Telluride but not crazy about any of the SX level colors I thought about holding off. and by then a month or so had passed and by then the buying "Frenzy" had begun and orders were taking months to fill and prices were well above the MSRP. I have never in my time ever purchased a car or truck or suv at MSRP let alone a premium and I am not one to perpetuate it.

I have a reliable older car, a Grand Marquis, 10 years old with a little over 100K on the odometer well cared for and not going to fall apart soon. I decided that buying was not something I had to do immediately as I usually drive them till they simply are broken beyond repair most of my cars have hit the 200K before I unload them or trade them in for the $500 'gift' from the dealer. I really was only looking because I am starting to feel need for the additional safety features in most new cars. I kept checking throughout the year and never saw the frenzy ease so I almost decided to go to my second choice a Subaru Outback Touring.

Well last years model was great, but some genius decided to make some significant changes to not only the interior and electronics but the engine also. No more 6 Cyl., only a turbo 4 that now provides an ample amount of turbo screaming noise instead of the smooth and quiet 6. I could go on about the horrible electronics they introduced but this is not about the Subaru. I did find a really nice Lincoln Navigator that was a MFR new/used 2018 vehicle that had apparently been damaged in transit. It was a really nice SUV, great features, awesome ride and tech out the kazoo with only about 150 miles on it and about $25K below sticker.

I drove it home to show my wife and just as I got there the dealer said there was someone flying in to get the car the following day and could I please return it first thing in the morning. I enjoyed it overnight but wasn't ready to pull the trigger. I was given the option of buying it before the guy flying in but opted out thinking it was a sales pitch and it still was a heck of a lot of money, $15K more than a fully equipped T. Short story the Navigator was purchased by a recently retired NFL running back who wrote them a check and drove it home. I will not give the name but everyone would know him.

I decided to go back to the KC auto show early this month and take one more last look. It only took me a couple of hours to make a decision and go put my order in the next day at the dealer I first drove the T. No mark up, small refundable deposit, placed the order while I waited with a print out took less than 15 minutes with the understanding that it was still months off for delivery and no promises that it would ever be built. I was told up front that it was up to KIA, whenever they gave him a VIN I would be notified. I knew it was a crap shoot going in and now all I can do is wait and see.

I don't need to have a new car, none of us will know what they decide to do at KIA to stop production or move on with this or a 2021 model when things crank up again and they will. I don't know who will want to cancel or can even afford a new car when this is over. Kudos to those of you who have theirs and are enjoying their new T I will read about your experiences here and watch as things unfold until then, I am just waiting and passing time.

Welcome aboard! And thank you for signing up. I hope everything works out with getting your Telluride. Crazy times we're in...

Welcome aboard indeed....! My SX P is simply the best I have ever owned in 51 years of new car buying!!! Never thought I would say that about the KIA brand! Hopefully we will get through the current crisis and we can all move on and enjoy life ( particularly our new cars!)
