• Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... Took my Telluride to my carwash today. I like to put the AUTO HOLD on when I get in the car but the Car Wash and Auto Hold don't like each other even with the car in neutral.

So remember to turn off the auto hold when you get to the car wash.

Also turn off the rain sensing wipers too ;)

A PSA inside of a PSA. If you like your car's paint without swirls, do NOT go through a car wash with any car unless its touchless. If you don't care then by all means.

LOL....I was wondering when the car wash police would chime in. The Horrors!

The auto hold is a unique feature....I like the idea in SOME situations, in others I'm just sort of "why aren't I moving a bit" .....anyway after much experimenting , I decided to avoid "auto hold". I decide when to let the brake go..........

How do you shut off the auto hold

Auto Hold is off by default every time you start the car. To turn it on or off, you push the auto hold button in the center console.

On a related note to car washing, for the members here who do not like to use the automated car wash. What is the best way to mechanically wash your car without using the foaming brush at the self service bays? Spraying with the pressure washer/soap alone will not really remove all the dirt.

I don’t want to be the person that brings buckets or mitts to the bays and do hand washing. I also considered buying a pressure washer for use at home, but I don’t want to let the soapy water run off into and pollute the storm drains.

I figured I can just use the foaming bush at the self service bays, clay bar at home and use an orbital polisher to remove the swirls before waxing/sealing.

What are thoughts? Or what have you all been doing?

I use the products from Griots Garage to hand wash and maintain our cars. Been using them for 14 years and have had great success with them. Griots Garage

Several things to consider: 1. I have found the "durability" of the paint on the Telly to be very good....better than some previous vehicles that I have had. 2. The quality of the car wash facility is very important.....I use a drive through one that has recently renovated and uses the highest tech available....extremely gentle and produces a clean and polished car equal to anything I can do myself. For an interesting look ...google "Anderson Car Wash, Dover, PA". 3. Using the handheld sprayer and brush will do an excellent job of cleaning the car .....the next important step will be the application of whatever one of the amazing "finish protectants" you choose to use. Bottom line for me is that I find the Telluride paint to be of excellent quality and definitely do not hesitate to use the "bay wash." I've attached a pic I took after using the drive through that I referenced above.....IMG_9987.webp
