Order to delivery time

@StephenCantrelle hoping you can me out as well. We got the MSRP sticker and vin for our Telluride on June 11th. Vehicle was supposed to be at the dealership on June 20th. On Saturday dealer advised the vehicle is in transit and on the truck. It's coming from Georgia. I'm in Texas....not sure that would take another whole week for transit. Am I wrong? VIN is 5XYP64HC2LG092679. Any info is appreciated!
ETA is showing 06-30.. it is In Transit to dealer.. like you said will probably show up today or tomorrow with you being in TX

@StephenCantrelle can dealers now see their allocated orders for 2021? I’m thinking about checking with my dealer see if there is car coming with the options i wanted instead of waiting to reorder!

We can see the 2020's(that had ETA's and were removed from internal system) that got crossed over to 2021's(we can see the new ETA's) so possible your dealership has one open as some people dropped off when getting new ETA's

They are released monthly. The next release of allocations should be between July 10th and 15th.

@StephenCantrelle I was supposed to get my telluride at the end of May. Last I heard it will be here June 30. Would you mind giving me a status for 5XYP5DHC0LG091520 any help is appreciated. Thanks

In Transit ETA 06-29 to Killeen.. may show up today or tomorrow since your in TX

I've been operating under the assumption all along that orders were arranged on dealer books chronologically. Now I kind of doubt this is true, which is why most dealers can't ever give you an exact number on your place in line. Order placement is probably more likely arranged by profitability. Agreed-to higher prices take priority over lower prices, regardless on when they were placed. I guarantee you if the dealer is asking $1k over MSRP for an order and you offer $3k over with a refundable deposit, you'll get your car quicker. Just makes sense.

I'm considering calling my dealer and offering an extra $1k if delivered by August 15th. At the rate things are going now, I'm looking at September/October at the earliest, unless I'm one of the unfortunate few who discover after six months their dealer never actually placed any kind of order.

I've had this same thought.

I've offered to share information learned here with my local dealer if he moves me up the line and he said sorry not happening...but I bet with some extra $$$ he would do it in a heartbeat...

Messed up proposition but I'm sure it's true.

100% true. Ha
KIA can't hold dealerships accountable for their unethical actions as reported to them by the consumer so there is always that possibility of that toxic environment. Im sure there's some kind of punishment but not enough of a deterrent to stop the unethical behavior.
Hence the $15k addendum on top of the BE Im sure some dealers will be getting. Awesome

Lucky You!!!

@StephenCantrelle sorry to bother, hoping for the same help. Was given a VIN over the phone on Fri 6/19. Told it would be delivered 7/15, probably before. 5XYP5DHC5MG096049. Now was told delivery 7/19. I see the sticker was created 6/22 in the tool. Lost 2 cars this week had left deposits on because timeframe moved way back...wondering if this will be the same situation? Are you able to see any ETA? Once the VIN is created pretty confident it would be delivered within a month or so?

Ordered 2/14 from a small dealership in PA (they get only about half a dozen Telly’s allocated to them a month). Original delivery was end of April but delayed due to COVID. Got VIN number on 5/19 and was delivered to our dealership in PA today (6/26). Unfortunately I’m out of town this weekend but I’m sure she was worth the wait and I can’t wait to see her on Monday! Thank you to everyone on this forum especially @StephenCantrelle

Four months does not sound bad at all.

Agreed, but it’s because it’s a small dealership so I wasn’t on a list when I ordered. Smaller dealerships don’t get as many each month but that doesn’t always mean a longer wait. My goal was to send out some hope to everyone who has been waiting for a long time!

Pictures of newly delivered vehicles always helps with the hope!! Lol I just feel bad for the buyers who get stiffed by dishonest dealers after months of waiting. Its terrible. Enjoy your new ride

if it weren't for this forum, and failcat - dealers would get away with far worse...

Think about it - they know what vehicles are incoming...allocated or not...and A LOT of people are constantly calling dealers asking for SX-Ps...

The shady dealers are probably saying hey I have these 2 vehicles incoming but need higher than MSRP - you interested? ((scary part is both could already be allocated))

What needs to happen is that once it's into KFOS - the dealer should have a contractual responsibility to Sell it to the allocated buyer UNLESS credit history/financing/etc make the deal fall apart at delivery...but I don't believe that is the case.

You better believe I am having the GM, in writing, confirm to me that the $500 deposit I am making is refundable, and the Vehicle (full information of vehicle and internal purchase order #) will only be sold to me, barring any unforeseen circumstances such as buyers credit history upon delivery (I already know this won't be a problem, just making them feel "safe"). Vehicle shall not be marketed nor put on Dealer website as available under any circumstances.

KIA corporate needs to hear more about this crap going on. If enough people complain and flood KIA with complaints maybe something could change?

I agree but not much that they can do to hold the dealers responsible. Without a dealer infrastructure they wouldn't sell vehicles.

The only thing that can help a buyer is a contract...to a dealer there isn't a contract until you come pick your vehicle up which legally might be true but is BS since a deposit was put on said vehicle and a buyer was verbally told it is theirs.

I still believe there more ethical dealers out there than unethical...but I can be naive!

Congrats on your new Telly, if you don't mind me asking, what did you get? I ordered with deposit my SX-P/T AWD in SWP/Dune 02-21-20 from small dealer also and I am looking for
incentive to keep my hopes up for getting my Telly sooner rather than later:p
