However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... I tried to get a sense on how quickly KIA is responding to demand through increased production. Looking at their daily output is very disappointing. I looked through how many cars were being produced and sent to MN dealers and find that just 1 or 2 are produced on average for MN per day. If all other states have similar demand and your order is tenth inline at one of the 14 or so dealers in MN odds of you receiving your T this year seem unlikely.

Does KIA prioritize customer or dealer stock orders? Im sure every dealer is taking every T they can get! They must get some T’s that are not customer orders which must increase the wait time for those of us who have already chose to buy. So the dealers who charge more than MSRP will still continue to do so because they will still receive their allotted amount of T’s Before your order gets built.

Will KIA stifle demand by raising the price considerably? Time will tell. Dealers take deposit money with no reasonable answer for the customer on delivery. They use your money indefinitely. This just makes KIA look bad to me. How do you know your order will be placed ahead of an order for stock? Lots of questions that have no answers. There is an old saying “A fool and his money are soon parted”. Are we fools?

There seems to be plenty of Pallisides readily available in my area. Why? KIA and Hyundai are the same company so why not have some sister company help? Sure the sheet metal and interiors are different but the frame and running gear are the same. There should be some way for Hyundai to help with T demand.

I‘m considering canceling my order because I don’t need to be played for a fool in a car deal. There’s other good vehicles out there.

KIA does not prioritize customer orders. You are more likely to find a allocated Telly long before your customer order arrives. Customer service is not KIA strong point in customer orders.

I guess to be fair consumers purchase a vehicle but the dealers are the Manufacturers real customers. They pay fees to become an authorized dealer. The dealers customers making the end purchase creates volume for the Manufacturers and dealers.

I would be much happier if KIA controlled all deposit money. It would remove the ability for an unscrupulous dealer to continue to use your money while putting orders in for stock that they know can be sold ahead of placing your order and continuing to use your money. Maybe deposits shouldn’t be allowed until a vehicle is scheduled to be produced for a specific dealer.

The real solution will only come when there is inventory at every dealership which will then create a more favorable purchasing environment for a consumer.

My story.... have purchased, in my lifetime, Ford, Mercury, Toyota, Lexus, Acura, Honda, Pontiac, Infiniti, Nissan, BMW vehicles. Two KIA Optimas in a row then a Sportage. KIA by far has been the most reliable overall. Service can be iffy, especially with the first Optima. That was back when people were saying "that's a KIA?" KIA also seems to have the most goodies (features) and bang for the buck. When I bought the Optima(s) I had choices from what was on the lot. When I bought the Sportage, same, lots of them on the lot. When my lease was ending on the Sportage I started shopping for a Telluride SX (also looked at the Palisade). Local Atlanta Metro dealers had markups on both the Palisade ($4K to $8K) and on the Telluride it was coming up with lease payments around $800 to $900. That was a no-go. Ordered my Telluride from KIA of Muncie. They were up front and professional. Turns out I had to cancel due to personal financial issues. I needed a new vehicle so went back to Sportage, no selection! WHAT! Dealer states (in November 2019) that the 2020's were limited and hard to find and they were "hearing" that the 2020 were going to stop being produced (a refresh was coming)! WHAT? Anyway they found the Sportage SX that I wanted and they would get it in 3 days. It took TWO weeks to get it there in the end. THEN they come with $1K+ in dealer add ons. I was not aware of that until I saw the window sticker. Find out they add these dealer installed items to EVERY new KIA on the lot or that comes into inventory. The Tellurides were $3K to $5K markup. It makes me question WHY? Are these dealerships not getting good $$$ from KIA? Or are the just being greedy because KIAs (most models) are now popular. Been on this Forum for quite awhile hearing all kinds of stories. To me the buying experience with KIA dealerships (at least locally) has changed drastically and not for the better. When I hear all this nonsense on here about dealerships I do feel the the brand is being tarnished and it will EVENTUALLY take it's toll. Too many people are being mis-informed, ripped-off, or swindled. People talk, and the word will get out. I have never paid MSRP for any vehicle, EVER. Why people are paying WAY over MSRP for the Telluride escapes me. The vehicle is a great value but there is a point when you say, "it's just a car." The Telluride's future certainly looks bright. KIA had increased production (until the Covid issue). But the deception from dealerships continues. Just hearing all the stories has made me question the brand. Even being a long-term, KIA loyalist!

Dealers at times take it on the chin with old inventory with low demand. Now its just the opposite, no inventory and high demand. So they are using this situation to increase profits. Later when the pendulum swings back, you will see discounts.

The car dealer business is a tough business, and many factors dealers don't control, like sudden increases in interest rates, a downturn in the economy, inability to get new supplies.

I don't fault them for making more $$ during this unique time. I do not consider it deception either. But I do not have to encourage this behavior. As a potential customer, I have the right to look elsewhere.

In the end, its just a car. A nice one to be sure.

Many years ago, Harley Davidson motorcycles went through the same limited supply/high demand cycle. Buyers were SELLING their spot in line for a tidy profit. And dealers were adding all kinds of accessories, driving the prices much higher. All of a sudden the balance changed, and people who ordered Harleys just to flip them were stuck.

I predict as soon as another company comes out with a killer SUV, the Telluride boom will be over. No doubt their competitors are working hard to do just this.

Telluride is built in West Point GA in the same facility as where the Sorento and Optima is made. We supply parts for Telluride program ON and they are at full capacity so no chance of increasing output. Palisade is made in Korea

Very simple guys they are making 100,000 cars and they can sell 150,000 I feel. So this is not going to be solved anytime soon.

I think once the new Sorento comes it may draw some demand away. However they are made in the same plant so not sure if it will help.

Agree. Until the supply demand curve reaches the equilibrium, things are not going to change.

So did you get the Sportage?

Choose a less popular vehicle. I am seeing sizable discounts on new Highlanders. So much so, the price advantage of the Telluride is gone and the Toyotas are now cheaper. Never thought I would see a comparable Toyota for less $$ than a KIA.

Is a Highlander as nice as a Telluride? No. But it is a nice car, and enjoys Toyota's stellar track record on quality.
