My Telluride is GT line (top line, the lower is SX-EX-LX) all trims in Saudi Arabia comes with orange turn lights on the lower bumper, looks cheap, any idea how make turn lights flashing from break lights (LED on GT line and SX) like American and Canadian SX versions?

If they made orange turn signals specifically for your market, wouldn’t it make it illegal for you to get rid of the orange marker when driving?

It’s legal, we use both orange and red turn lights in different cars, so changing colors doesn’t matter.

Electrically sounds like you have the same setup as Canada. Meaning you have the LED tail/brake vertical lamps, but still have the halogen turn signals in the rear bumper? Only exception being you have a partially clear lens with an amber bulb.

Personally I like the utilization of the lights in the bumper, if it were mine I would just replace with a red or amber LED to get a cleaner look. I have the combination lamps in the US market where the tail/brake AND turn signal is on the LED vertical tail lamp. Originally the bumper had only reflectors in mine (standard for EX/SX trims in the US). I have since made my bumper lights function as rear fog lights. The third pic is the reflectors I removed and have since sold.

@Familyman20 thanks! I definitely feel a bit safer on the roads now. I put a dual brightness bulb in the assembly so they also function as additional taillights. Then if the front fogs are flicked on, the rears get brighter to function as the rear fogs.

Any wiring, or just replacing with the lower trim housings and bulbs? Guessing tho you just tapped into the SX tails and ran some wire down to the new bumper lights? SX here too. Thanks, really good idea for improved visibility for ppl behind you

Sorry to hijack the thread

@Familyman20 yes there was some new wiring involved. I ran a wire from the fuse box on the driver side all the way to back jack storage area and out the taillight harness cable gland (this is from the front fog signal). And then yes just tapped off of the taillight harness for tail signal and ground. I have been meaning to upgrade the method in which I tapped the circuits as I bought some better grade connectors, but so far no issues!

And yes @snns99 sorry to change the topic a bit. But depending on what you are hoping to do I may be able to help direct you. Like where to get schematics for starters.

Right, i think it’s the best option i have to change orange light to red amber LED, I thought it’s going to be easy to make turn signal flashing from tail/break lights and it’s will be huge difference, rear fog light in the bumper is a standard on all trims as shown in picture, small but strong light, illegal to use it in not foggy or rainy weather, the funny fact that we only have two weeks in total in the whole year with rain and no foggy weather at all, Thanks for sharing your experience.

@snns99 oh wow! I didn’t even realize this version had rear fogs. Now I’m curious if my gauge cluster has that indicator. It’s ironic though, I live in NE Ohio, US. We definitely have a need for rear fogs between many foggy morning commutes in the rural areas where I live and winter months, but you will only find them on European imports like Volvo, SAAB, VW or BMW in the states just to name a few. US manufacturers do not have them like GM and Ford, maybe there was a time but I have never seen them.

Thanks for pointing that out. It seems like your GT Line has “all” the features haha, of course different market.

Lol. @mrad31 Now questioning if he wants the swap out for the GT Line bumper markers. Maybe you guys should just trade.

@Tellthemride definitely curious! So I checked and my SX here in the states DOES have the rear fog indicator. See photo, very hard to see but it’s there. I’d still prefer to have the entire rear bumper light be a taillight and rear fog like I have now. Since my turn signals are already in the vertical taillight.

Now I have another feature to add! Just have to figure out the CAN message sent to the gauge cluster to activate the rear fog indicator.

I can trade my fog lights with your taillights.

Haha thanks, but I’ll pass. I’m sure the harnessing is different between the two. I also don’t have the switch for rear fogs on the light stalk, but a separate switch on the fuse cover. I will see if I can get the indicator to light up though!

So which US Domestic 2021 models have the turn signal on the bumper vs on the taillights?

LX and S have turn signals on the bumper and non-LED taillights.

EX and SX have LED taillights that also function as turn signals; there are only reflectors on the bumper.

snns99 send me your email address and I can send you .pdf of the rear tail light wiring diagram for US models. I would bet it can be done, but will require a bit of simple rewiring. I'll post photos of them below. I would bet your's is a combination of the US LED rear tail lamps and the US bulb type rear lamps. US bulb type rear lamps use the lower lamps in the bumper for the turn signals.16CA6088-AF06-4D75-8A2C-46DFAF364491.webp413D56A3-0F00-437A-9133-B0036EA9B6BF.webpE2FF37CD-13FF-4F95-A6C5-ABC78C819A56.webp619F7CCD-A63E-4163-8658-0017B37F8883.webp7774C617-1E5C-4DD8-B812-C10240DDBA17.webpFAD29735-3EC2-4241-8DC2-3E378BFBB9DA.webpEDB53776-6129-4957-A400-70B02C5DC889.webp

here is the wiring diagram for the rear fogs (and front fogs). Only thing that would be needed to cleanly activate rear fog indicator would be a Saudi Arabian spec multifunction switch-If someone can get the part number that would be awesome.

@machtig I would need the stalk and the multifunction UAE bumper light assembly to cleanly get it done, which most certainly has different harnessing in the rear. Unless I could source the rear fog output near the fuse panel and drive them that way.

I am looking into simply matching that (above) resistive network to simulate the light stalk. It’s not clear to me If the UAE version can have both front and rear fogs on simultaneously though. In the pic shared it looks to be one or the other. The way I have mine setup is that the rear fogs only have power when the front fogs are on, the remainder they are dim and function with the taillights. Of course I do have a switch to break the connection to the rear if desired. Tbh I forgot about this project, now that it’s cooler I may have to go and check things out 😅
