• Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... Not really sure what the part is called, but the door / cover for the gas area.

Bought my Telluride about 2 months ago. With everything going on, haven't been driving that much. Only filled it up with gas the second time a few days ago. It was raining and I noticed something about it looked a little off. The top right corner (well, curve) of the cover is not flush with the car. I emailed the dealership but so far, crickets.

I 100% have not hit, dented, bent, scratched the car, or had someone else drive, or parked somewhere where it could get hit etc etc. There are no signs it has been hit, dented, scratched or anything. So two questions:

1. Is this normal, do other Tellurides look like this? is it just a - this is where you press - sort of thing?
2. If it's not normal, is there anything I can do about it in terms of having the dealer fix?

Thanks!

Mine looks exactly the same and I thought exactly the same as you . It should be more flush with the car.

Mine is not flush either and exactly like yours. I haven't approached the dealer about it though, but it should be flush.

quick update - just dropped the car off at the dealership. they agreed that the arm mechanism has an issue and they will be getting a replacement part from kia. While checking it all out, they managed to break the plastic bits holding the cover onto the arm, so that will be replaced as well.

yhax, how'd the replacement go? Smooth?
Ours is the same. Its a 2021 however it was going to be a 2020 with an original eta in early May until covid hit. Assuming it was in line to be built about the same time as yours so the "arm mechanism" probably has the same issue yours had.

Actually just got it sorted out today. Dropped it off this morning and picked it up a few hours ago. Everything went smoothly. New arm came in last week, the door took a bit longer (had to be painted). Everything is in line and my OCD can rest finally :P No charges, and the dealership was awesome handling all of it. I can add a pic sometime but it's basically the same as before, just smooth / inline now. Good luck!

My cover was like that as well. Dealer replaced the hinge and it was better, but still not completely flush. I ended up pushing the plastic assembly inside the door and it now sits flush.

Check the hood as well because mine had a obvious panel gap (very narrow towards driver side and very wide towards the bumper). Yet to be corrected due to COVID.

Good info thank you guys. Our driver's side door is misaligned as well. It was discussed when I took delivery and after a week I think I'll bring it in for adjustment and see if they'll repair the gas cap too. You can see in the pics that the drivers door hangs lower and farther outward than the rear door. Passenger side is more flush20200821_200447.jpg20200821_183605.jpgView attachment 939320200821_183747.webp

Mines flush with the body.
