I am hoping that the new "system" Kia is putting in place for orders automatically getting pulled in to KFOS from KDealer is going to help those with orders in the pipeline. Time will tell.

I hate to be the one to say it but the incessant whining is a drag on this forum.

Just because they seem to have the parts doesn’t mean your order should be built ASAP. The logistics of building and shipping $4 billion (with a b!) worth of Tellurides is more complicated than anyone here seems to grasp. To suggest they should prioritize your delivery time over anything else is foolish.

(And as I said, kinda ruining the forum)

9 months is hardly ASAP. And I haven't seen anyone say their order should be prioritized over anything else. If someone has said that - I have missed it. The issue is that KIA is no longer building cars in a FIFO manner. In the past - you could rely on your order getting built in the order it was received - now it doesn't matter.

I know it’s technically 9 for you man but my point is 6 of them aren’t Kia’s fault. You chose a dealer with a line, that’s on you (and the dealer). Covid happened, that’s just really unlucky. Everything from KFOS forward is happening within expectations.

I find it hard to believe Kia was ever truly FIFO. It’s suboptimal from just about every angle you look at it - parts inventory, managing the production line, shipping/hauling logistics, etc.

Yeah - I wouldn't have an issue if it was just the line at the dealership or COVID - the Nightfall orders jumping ahead of older orders is just frustrating.

I ordered my Everlasting Silver, Dune, SX/PT on May 28 and was told it would be October. Second highest volume dealer in my area and I was told I was 7th in line. In looking at the history I can’t find any with that specific combination but that is what my wife wanted.

I was never given actual dates for any of the steps in the process but I was told the “Order had been picked up“.

The information as of a couple weeks ago is still end of October. I do believe it Has to be a margin issue. Maybe the Nightfall edition improves the margins. Why should a Nightfall cost more money? Aren’t they just replacing parts with other parts that probably cost no more to manufacture? What additional parts are on the Nightfall?

Could be they priced the SX/P with a smaller margin because they didn’t expect to sell many. The HUD, Special Leather and other items in the Prestige package is what all the auto journalists gave such high marks to but KIA may not have anticipated that many of the orders would be based on those options. KIA wants to be looked at as the high quality, low price leader and may have done themselves a disservice In pricing the SX/PT. Many of us ordered an SX/PT because we were convinced it was a great buy for the money.

Still have not produced even 1 SX AWD P/T in GWP with Dune Brown interior. Wonder when that might happen. With the numbers that have been showing in Failcat lately it might be several more months....as if an order first placed in February isn't long enough. I still do not have an ETA.

I was in this same point. Prestige without Nightfall. Took delivery this weekend. Timing in my signature.

I actually would not have been one to order Nightfall anyway had it been available back in Feb anyway.

Salty, I have an order in for the same colors(not in KFOS yet), but kind of on the fence whether I should change to my original preference for the Dune Brown...how did you decide on the gray interior? Has it held up well to dirt? Are you happy with the color? Thanks in advance!

Well, I think we have always had lighter interiors in our cars. I would not say we sought out gray, but more wound up there as process of elimination. My wife and I do not really like brown, so that left gray and black. We preferred the gray to the black from a "sitting in the sun" perspective. Whether it is true or not, black leather seats always seem hotter to me.

As far as dirt, they really have not been exposed to much yet. My kids are in middle school, so I am not as worried about it as I used to be.

I will say the gray is lighter than the gray we have in our minivan (our vehicle when the kids were really messy). Aside from it being a little lighter than I would have preferred, I am happy with our choice.
