Non Nightfall SX Prestige Waiting Room

I totally understand the frustration. We still want the Telluride we have on order. Thankfully due to COVID - we have had to put very little miles on my wife's nearly ten year old Odyssey. We can't wait to replace it with a new ride. I just wish KIA cared enough about this wave of new customers to the KIA family to actually build cars in the order the build requests came in.

It gets me when people that have already received their cars or those that got theirs in 2-3 months get tired of the shafted SXP crowd for getting so frustrated. After nearly a year of watching KIA production - the SXP orders are the only group that have been pushed to the end of the line after their orders were already in KFOS. No other batch of customers has been screwed over as badly as those that have ordered an SXP and were in KFOS before all these NFP builds started rolling in. It is ridiculous what KIA has done. If the car wasn't so good, or rather if the competition wasn't so bad - we would have walked.

The irony is that short of the Nighfall SX Prestige - the SXP is the second most expensive configuration. It isn't like KIA is opting not to build the base low margin vehicle. We are literally standing around waiting to hand over $50K. And KIA is like - screw you...how about you buy a trim you don't want for $52K. I have never seen anything like it.
The people getting tired of us being frustrated can kiss my...

Most of them know they got Nightfall so they can get it sooner...let's be honest, how many of them really love the grill and wheels? How many saw a nightfall before ordering it?

Yes with everlasting silver and maybe GG it looks good but any other color...meh...

They realized it gets them to the front of the line and like everything else these days instant gratification outweighs patience.

Whew the self righteousness in this post

I'm not trying to be a dick but even I was debating grabbing a NE to have my Telly sooner but then I realized that patience is a virtue.

Most people who order a NE will fall in love with it, I'm sure of it and congrats to them for getting an awesome vehicle!

Any theories as to why Kia is mostly building SX P/T (non-NF) for just Black Copper? I thought a while back, Black Copper seemed to be pretty rare and had a longer wait. Is it possible there are a lot out there with extremely old (maybe back to 2019, since I think most of ours were Jan 2020 forward) Black Copper SX P/T orders that Kia's just filling now?

I feel your frustration as well. We get penalized for choosing the top trim.

Its all about the $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ and not about any color. Its certainly not about the customer Its about the $1300 more they are getting from the NE add on that is not costing them any more to build. If you want the SX trim you basically are going to buy the NE or you buy a less expensive trim or you pay for the more expensive paint. The more expensive paint crap is also a profit builder that goes way back in the auto industry if you think it actually costs the auto maker several hundred dollars more to spray paint that desirable color then think again. Its Snake Oil.

I can't imagine waiting as long as @MarcinTexas and others. Hell, I have only been waiting since the end of July and it feels like an eternity. I hope when ya'll do get your vehicles, that they are problem-free for a long time. Kia has done people dirty.

Doesn't the Black Copper paint also cost more $$$?
Yes so that is why they are building that option for the non NE SX! It still drives the bottom line but at a smaller dollar amount customers are used to paying the additional money for the more popular paint options.

The trend continues....just three units away from eclipsing August NFP production and its only the 16th. My dealer just had another NFP VIN show up that was ordered after my vehicle. Still no VIN for me.

Thank you for the graphics.

Safe to say this trend will continue and SXP orders will keep getting pushed back.

I just want others who are waiting for an SX-P allocation with their dealers to realize that the wait for them is going to be excruciatingly long.

That thought process kind of pushes people to ordering a NE because they are like screw waiting 6-8 months. NE in 2-3 months...sign me up!

When did you originally order?

Whew the self righteousness in this post

Do you have your vehicle? If not - how long have you been waiting? Here's the issue:

Countless people waited this long last year and into this year for their vehicles because KIA wasn't building enough Tellurides....then right as they started ramping up production COVID happened. I think everyone knew that both of these things were either market driven or events out of their control. The important difference is that during that time - KIA was still building cars in the order they were received. Everyone was feeling the pain (within each trim group). Then this summer KIA decided to screw over SXP orders in favor of the new Nightfall Prestige. Even my dealer called me to tell me they had an allocated NFP coming in that was very similar to my build to see if I wanted to buy that one in-stead of what I had ordered. For money of course. As each month has gone by - they have lowered production of the SXP in favor of the NFP - to the point where they are now delivering NFP orders months ahead of orders that date back to Dec/Jan on SXP orders. No other group has experienced this except the SXP crowd. No one at KIA can give us the reason behind what is going on.

As more and more customers take delivery of their vehicles - there seems to be less and less sympathy for this unique group of buyers that nearly a year ago were buying the top trim Telluride now being told to kiss off. This situation the SXP buyers are experiencing is unlike anything else any buyer has experienced on the Telluride since launch.

In granular detail:

I am seriously beginning to doubt my 10/13 ETA...19 weekdays left to build it and one of those is a holiday. Will I see this in 2020?

Allocated in July.

Still a long wait, that's nuts. You got some patience, that's for sure. I salute you, my dude.

Here is the proportion of sales the relatively small number of NFP's represent. As you can see - it is a significant growing part of the Telluride business. The figures below are based on units and options selected for each trim model using the MSRP from KIA's website. This of course doesn't count any PIOs or dealer markup.

Nothing compared to @MarcinTexas and others man.

I almost bought an NE don't get me wrong. It was exactly your order. First one in NJ. Found it on failcat and I just took a deep breath and realized that wasn't what I truly wanted.

Just paying for it now with the waiting game.

They know Prestige is the winner winner chicken dinner that's why they aren't making many SX NE without prestige.

NE just gets Kia more money and people a vehicle quicker. The writing is on the wall
