Check engine light

Purchased a Telluride on the 25th check engine light came on yesterday.. Kia said the code is for evap? No worries and reset it? However my gas cap was in correctly.. anyone else have this happen?

Could be a faulty gas cap not sealing properly

This has happened to me couple of times earlier, once with my old Mazda3 and another time with a Corolla.

It had something to do with gas cap cover and pressure inside fuel tank. After a day, the CEL light went away.

Dealer said it is not normal but it self-balances and there is no long-term harm or damage.

It has never happened in our Kias because now I make sure I twist the gas cap until I hear a few clicks.

Happened to me too... still on and it’s been four days now. I took the cap off and turned it until it clicked everyday since. Engine light still on

My gas cap doesn't give a definitive "click" when it seals. It's almost like a resistant click. Is this typical of everyone else's?

Yes, doesn't really "click". It tightens.

It’s kinda like a torque wrench, when it on tight enough it gives off a click...

Has happened to me occasionally on my Hyundai Santa Fe - usually just means the gas cap didn't seal good. Also, be sure when the automatic shut of shuts the gas off when filling, don't try to "top it up" - as suggested already in this tread that can sometimes cause problems.

This issue can sometimes be resolved by a waste gate rod adjustment. Cannot be done by you if you do not have the proper scan tool and specs to put the adjustment into the proper voltage range. ( electronic wastegate)

A telluride doesn't have a turbocharger and therefore has no wastegate.

Mine is doing the same and my car is shaking! WTF

We bought our 2020 in Nov. 2019- 3 months in and a cylinder coil; then yesterday another cylinder coil- when coil is bad and cylinder/psiton is not firing; it makes engine shake and shutter since it is basically missing and synchronization is off. Really disappointed with our first KIA

Was the issue fixed for good? Are you still facing the issues? I got mine in Sept 2019 and check engine light turned on this week at 8k miles and car was shaking/shuddering. Really disappointed with Kia :-(
