Differential Lock 2021 Nightfall

Hi All-
I recently purchased a 2021 SX, Nightfall and it has a different looking switch where most would have a "lock" button, mine has a drive/terrain button?
Any insight appreciated as the dealer said "just pick the appropriate snow/mud/sand and the diff will lock on its own"??

That is why. The Canadian version is different from the US version. You'll have to consult the Canadian manual about the differential lock.

Canada doesnt get diff lock we just get mor terrains

I read through the manual and even the manual shows a picture of the "lock" button but describes it as the terrain?? So confusing. So is one to assume that "Terrain" is the differential "lock"? Manual seems to be poorly written and worded, guess I might need to take it up the hill to find out.

I dont think it locks the diff since if you press the terrain button it makes you choose certain terrain modes. This wont lock the diff 50/50 like it does in the states version.

If you compare the wording in the US and Canadian owner’s manuals, it provides the same warning for driving on normal dry pavement in “AWD Lock” (US) as it does for all Terrain modes (Canada).

Based on that, you would think all Terrain modes will lock the power at 50/50, but presumably there has to be some difference at some point because the Lock button in the US only works up to 25 mph. Of course, all of the wording is vague at best. Good news is, you probably won’t (and shouldn’t) be doing any serious off roading in the Telluride.

I guess you can pull up the instrument cluster indicator that shows where power is being sent and see what happens in these modes up to (and then over?) 25 mph (or whatever that is in km/h). Mess around with it and see what happens and what works.

If you need to get out of a particularly sticky situation, putting it in mud or sand at low speed would probably be your best bet.
