If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... I want to start off by saying my wife and I really like this SUV. We waited and did our research before we bought the Telluride S model. Well, we have 400 miles on it and the AC started blowing hot air and gray smoke came out from under the engine and it smelled like Freon. Well its been at the KIA dealership all day and they got back to me saying there is a leak in the AC and have to wait for the KIA engineers to get back to them. It's new and we understood there might be some issues but this sucks. We only had it for 7 days. My question to you is: Have any of you had issues with the AC? Thank you in advance I will keep you up to date.

Sorry to hear … mine has been working OK, but haven't used AC too much. Let us know what Kia finds. These sort of issues are common with new vehicles. I'm sure I'll experience a bugaboo soon enuf!

I’ve used mine quite a lot since i live in the South. No issues so far. Sorry to hear about your problem but I’m sure Kia will get it corrected.

Sorry to hear about this and thank you for posting. Please do keep us posted with your updates. It'd be interesting to see how Kia handles these initial issues.

The KIA Dealership figured out the problem. The AC line was not installed correctly under the car. The AC leaked because of the grove in the line. The bolts holding the line were bent. Pictures attached.

Proudly built in Georgia...:)

There’s a reason they say not to buy a first gen of any new vehicle and it’s due to stuff like this. That’s the price we pay to have the latest and greatest. Glad they got it worked out and thanks for the update in case anyone else has this issue.

You hit the nail on the head. I asked the service department if this is an issue they are having. I was told the only thing they have come across is updating the ECU software. The AC line is the first here in Tucson, AZ and was most likely caused by a faulty install. He said those lines are hand installed. The AC line is on back order and will be in next week. This stinks.... Bought it last Monday 4/29 and have only driven it 5 days.... But hey it is what it is and its not a serious issue.

Our AC quit working 2 days ago. Started blowing hot air. we've had our Telluride for 3 months. It's going to the shop today. Any new news on your situation?

We were just told a rock put a hole in the AC line and it is not covered on the warranty so it will be a $2,000 fix. It's been driven on the Highway, granted there rocks on the highway. So frustrated!

Never heard of that. Do you trust the dealer? That just doesn't seem right...

The fella we bought the car from has been wonderful. But the manager in the parts shop has not been nice and didn't want to hear about the other Telluride's having issues with the AC.

I see. You may want to get a second opinion from another dealer if possible. Seems like the dealer should be able to qualify it under warranty...

I just experienced an issue with my Telluride AC also... I've had my Telluride for 3 months with no issues....This Friday, I thought I saw smoke coming from underneath hood, but thought it was nothing since it was cool that morning. That afternoon the AC was needed and it blew hot. Went to Kia dealership and they said I have a leak caused by road debris...Looking at the front grill of the Tellride, if any Rocks or debris can and will get through the front grill..If this is the issue, then it will be a continual issue...The grill is wide open... I'm scheduled to get it fixed tomorrow...

ive Had my telluride since September and I’ve just started using the ac and it’s blowing hot now to, I’m taking it in on Wednesday to have it checked, it whistles a little

Ok I have had my Telluride since May 2019. No issues. November 2019, same issue where I went in my garage and noticed smoke coming out from behind my grill. Took it in, Dealer could not find what it was and blamed it on a plastic bag probably burning on exhaust. Now it’s April 2020, and since its getting warm again, I used my AC only to have warm air. Took it in, they said the same thing about a rock damaging a condenser and it’s not covered under warranty. It will cost about $1400 to fix. I am gonna fight this.

I would fight them too, it should be covered. I would try corporate and complain to them. Sometimes they will call the dealer and tell them to fix it under warranty.

Update on the AC issue, so after 3 rounds of talking with KIA Consumer reps, I was told that since it was caused by a rock puncturing the condenser, it is not covered under warranty and it is my responsibility to pay 1400 to have it fixed on a vehicle less than a year old. I informed them that others are having the same issue, they said they were not aware. I told them that they have a recall going on the windshield since they crack if a pebble hits it, why isn't this the same? She hung up one me. Damn....I really liked my Telluride til now.

Can your auto insurance pay for it if it was indeed a rock that damaged the condenser? I would still imagine a deductible is still unpleasant, but better than the full repair costs.
