• Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... Factory Installed Side Steps?

Just wondering if anyone knows whether or not the factory is still installing side steps. My VIN number has been assigned with an ETA of 12-23-20. Looking at the window sticker on failcat, the side steps I ordered were not listed. Additionally, after looking at about a hundred or so window stickers from the last two months, I didn't see any that included side steps. Makes me think the factory has decided to leave installation to the dealer?

I can not confirm, but I've also read that running boards are not port(factory) installed anymore along with few other accessories. I am guessing Kia is trying to pump out as many cars as possible to meet the demand.

No matter if they were to be installed at the factory, port, or dealership they should be on your Window Sticker.

Check with your dealer.

I took delivery 2 weeks ago and I had the side steps.

I also ordered side steps and they are not on my window sticker.

I think some of you need to call your dealers and report back. Assume others may be in the same position watching this thread.

Thanks everybody. I'll see what the dealer says when they let officially let me know the car has an ETA....reportedly, as of yesterday, they didn't have their weekly update.

I'll report back.

Nope.
If it's not installed at the factory it should not and will not be on the window sticker.

That doesn't make any sense.

If the order went into KFOS with the option selected it should be on the window sticker. Doesn't matter where on the chain it was installed.

Only way I see it not being on the window sticker is if you pay separately to have it installed at the dealership.

The reason for this is because dealers can submit customer order requests in a variety of different ways, KFOS is not the only way for a dealer to fill a customer order. With that being said some of the other channels for example work as such....

ie:
sales rep enters customer order request for SXP, moss, dune, running boards, interior light kit, all weather mats.
The factory can "fill" this order by building a SXP, moss, dune, interior light kit, all weather mats, rear bumper protector, wheel locks.

Sir, that's not how it works. Not with Kia but with any OEM. Technically a part can come from the factory and be part of the order and "installed/finalized" at the dealer. This happens often with cosmetic parts like spoilers and wind skirts on cars like GT500-Mustangs, etc...

You're under the impression the only way for a dealer to fulfill an order is via KFOS, and the factory is required to build that exact car. Neither are absolutes.

I'm pretty sure we haven't run into this issue before on this forum and there are over 15k members at this point. Lets say 50% of those were custom ordered...unless the Dealer messed up the order going into KFOS no one has complained about a feature not making it to their window sticker...

If you CUSTOM order a Telluride and it goes into KFOS with your specs - the Window sticker should match. Period. That's been the case for God knows how many months of ordering with members on these forums and your eluding to something completely different.

Facts: two members are having the same issue with the same accessory, let them check with dealer and get back to us.

If you have a VIN# you can ask @StephenCantrelle for an ETA. In the spirit of the Holidays a friendly reminder that he does take tips lol.

accessories are not factory installed. as this is not an option, such as the tow hitch package. accessories are installed by the dealer upon receipt of the vehicle.

you still don't understand.
KFOS IS....NOT......THE....ONLY.....OPTION....FOR....A....DEALER/REP.....TO......ORDER.....A....CAR.
Read it again, 5x slowly. There are other avenues within Kia's ordering system to request and order a vehicle than KFOS.

Just because the dealer told you or said it went into KFOS or was 'custom ordered' doesn't mean it was.

Muncie literally just filled my order, it wasn't processed through KFOS.

There is Kdealer and KFOS ....Do you even know the difference between the two systems? how they operate? How THEY USED to operate...how ordering picking changed a few months ago? Enlighten us all.

Since you are the resident wise guy (or gal) of how people are ordering Tellurides do us all a favor and call Muncie back and learn a thing or two...They do a great job educating those that are misinformed. Report back when you can add value to this thread.

There is a logical reason why side steps aren't on the recent window stickers the OP has looked through recently - you or I don't know the exact reason why. End of story.

You want to tell people they don't understand and tell them to read slower (what if I had a reading problem?) means you belong on the Facebook group and not on these forums. Good day.

Ok. Confirmed with the dealer today that the vehicle is indeed mine. I was told that the only option this dealership can guarantee from the factory is floor mats. Side steps were out of inventory when my car was built. So, they are not on the window sticker. I’ll have to order them through the parts department for dealer installation. Works for me. Apparently, the only items listed on the window sticker are those that are actually factory installed. Makes sense.

Just looked at an SXP Nightfall the other day at Pride Kia in Lynn, MA that came in wayside steps. Not my taste but looked OK
