Dealer Markup

Hey all if you live Augusta,GA i would avoid both kia dealerships if you want a telluride. one is charging almost 47k just for an LX,over 60k for ex. the other one wont even list a price but they are charging anywhere from 3494-8k over sticker price. I have no shame on listing their names.

I purchased a 2021 Everlasting Silver S trim in IL from Libertyville Auto Plaza. They sticker was $37,700 they tried to start the negotiations at $49,600. I sat in an empty dealership with a guys for 3 hours as he spat “demand” and “premium” at me. All the while not a single other soul came in to buy the car, as the time went on his premium vehicle looks less and less in demand or popularity...
I negotiated extremely hard, did not budge on my price and pointed out the lack of “competition” from other potential buyers.
I walked out the dealership after 4 hours with a car for $39,365 bucks... and they started me at 10k over..
needless to say, it’s not hard to smell “BS” a few things went in my favor, lack of customers, a restless 10month old and a manager who’s never met a Scottish guy who does not like to spend money (Me)
Overall, preowned 2020’s up here a listed for what I paid so I am satisfied I got fair price.
 
New here looking to purchase a White SX or SXP in Central PA. Went to fred beans kia in mechanicsburg and they wanted 8K over sticker. 5K for adjustment and 3K for this BS appearance package. I got them to drop the 5k adjustment but I refuse to pay over sticker. I'm a serious buyer. I'm willing to travel 200 or so miles to get a good deal. I also called browns in manassas va and they wanted 12K over sticker and got upset when I laughed at them. So if anyone has a lead on a White SX or SXP at msrp let me know.


Also I think if Kia allowed this markup this is a bad move for the brand in the long run.

Parsons in Winchester VA might be within 200 mi. Selling at MSRP. That’s near the WV / VA border right off I-81 and where Ill eventually be purchasing. Ask for Matt Harmon. They’re a low allocation dealership but they had a recent increase in allocations so there’s hope. Check VA027 on Failcat.

There are some out there that have more money than brains, the idiot that purchased that allocation is one of them! Wise person once said a fool and his money are soon parted. ---- Seems like with markups on this car this applies quite frequently.

Dang, some of you have to put up with crazy mark ups. Doesn't seem too bad in IN.

Just saw the wolf gray (or whatever it's called) with nightfall package on an SXP on Sunday at Skillman Kia Southside Indy, apparently just off the truck as it wasn't prepped yet. It also didn't have their markup sticker yet either, but the sticker was something like $502xx (sorry, I wasn't thinking to take pics).

It looked fantastic, but not compelling enough for me to pay $50k plus whatever they add. The other Tellurides on their lot have a dealer add on of $249 for tint and $699 for Pulse, lol. Those are apparently non negotiable, so it's essentially about a $1k markup. I don't know if there are any other markups after that, but they aren't on the dealer add-on window stickers that I've seen. I spoke with a GM at another dealer who told me MSRP only. I haven't gotten a straight answer from Southside yet, but I also haven't sat down with a checkbook in hand.

Durham NC is marking up by 5K. I had inquired about an SX. They also said they are not taking orders.

I was at the dealer in Orlando today. Ran into my sales rep. He said they sold a SXP last week for 65K. He sold an EX for 56K. Who are these people buying these. Wow!

Same in SWFL..min of 5K over sticker + up to 2400 in dealer charges and add ons. Complete highway robbery... But someone is paying it....
I'd easily drive out of state to pay MSRP and 199.00 doc fee. What a bunch of gangsters...
What is really odd is you can buy a in stock loaded Palisade under sticker in the same town !
