Won't start; brake pedal high and firm

After nearly 3 months of having to jump start my car every day, and the dealership looking at it for a week on 2 separate occasions, they ordered a "part." They won't tell me what part that is for some reason, but it's ordered. All that after I had caught them in several lies because they treat people like their stupid. Also, I had to get the Cal. BAR along with filling a complaint with the NHTSB, before they would even admit that there was a problem. Oh yeah, I had to take my Telluride to another shop and pay them a $100 to identify, verify and prove that, there is in fact, a parasitic drain from the either the radio or, the LDC assembly. It took the dealer a week to figure out what I was able to learn at a friend's shop in about 2 hours. I even told the dealer what was causing the draw. Still, it took a week. So, hopefully, I'm coming to the end of this nightmare. Except, have a broke ass sunroof that I will have to keep fighting Kia over. I hope this thing does catch fire and burn to the ground. But, I'm not that lucky.

So what is the fix? Just bought one on Friday and it is already doing this

Tried to start my 3 week old telluride today with only 750 miles. Won’t turn over. The brake pedal as previously described is high and stiff. Had the pleasure of jumping it 4 times with my portable battery pack. This wasn’t the “remote start” I was expecting. Heading to the dealer in the morning to raise he’ll until they get it working correctly.

If your having the stiff brake pedal, try activating the parking brake. I noticed that when I do that it relieves some brake pressure and you may be able to press the brake enough to start the car.
 
Well, finally after 6 months of fighting tooth and nail I got my Telluride back on Wednesday. The technician had to get help from the engineers for the Telluride. It appears that the problem was an IBU assembly unit. From what I was able to gather, the wires from the fuse box under the dash pig tail into it connecting with pig tails from the infotainment system, amplifier and the drivers display. Basically it's a junction box that sits behind the dash and HVAC system. It took them nearly a month to figure this out. I also received the transcripts of the conversation between the tech and the engineers, and the engineers were even having difficulty figuring it out. It's been a long hard fight with these guys and I'm happy that it might actually be over and I hope that maybe this helps some of you out there having the same problem. Now I'm gonna lick my wounds for a minute before I start the next fight over my broke sunroof. Unless something else breaks again that takes priority. Best of luck to you all.

Anyone else having a similar problem? I am considering using the lemon laws here to turn the car back in if they can't fix it.

Same issue with mine only 500 miles on it. But started I tried after 2 hours... I hope it does not happen again only 2 weeks old vehicle
 
See post #44 above. After 3 days of testing to satisfy KIA they replaced my battery under warranty (which is what I told them was wrong from the start). No issues in 2 weeks/ 250 miles since.

I’ve had this issue several times now but only happens in extreme heat 90 plus degrees. And after sitting for some time. It starts once the temps cool down outside. Everything comes on as normal. Car says “on” and Pedal is hard and stiff but engine doesn’t start. Dealership can not do a thing with no codes or the ability to replicate. What was everyone solution? It’s not the battery.

What was the outcome? Having the same issue today! Brake firm, clicking noise when trying to start, lights flash but doesn't start.

So dealer took a look at the car already and they couldn’t find the solution because they don’t have any codes? Did they at least try to diagnose it by replacing the battery or checking all the electrical wires to make sure everything is connected to where it has to be?? Battery might have enough juice to turn everything on the dash but not start the car. What about checking the starter??

Same problem Kia service says they have never heard of this happening. I feel I have an unreliable car. Did you get an answer or problem solved?

Going thru something similar at the moment

Car wouldn’t start, no clicking, no dash lights, brake high and firm. I opened the hood to see where the battery was and check the oil. Engine felt hot. After a few minutes the dash lit up and said car is on. Tried to rev the engine while in park and nothing happened. Had to push the start button again. This happened twice. Once yesterday and once the day before. Car is currently at the dealership. They can’t find anything wrong and have a call into another technician.

So frustrating as this time last year it was there for over 70 days waiting on an engine (under warranty) because of a piston ring failure.
