• Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... First, thanks for helping. Looking to install a tow kit on my Telluride which did not have the factory tow kit - it is an "EX" trim if that matters for this question. Most of the information I see implies that when installing a towing kit, there is a harness that already exists at the back of my vehicle where I can install a module for the harness, but when I go to sites like eTrailer the wiring kits for my vehicle not having the factory towing option are just bare wire. It's only when I go to sites with OEM kits like KiaStuff that I can get harnesses that appear to use this harness.

My questions in TLDR format:

Is there an existing harness that I can just connect to without having to splice into cables etc to adding towing to my non-factory-towing-kit 2020 Telluride? (I tried to put a link to an example of what I am talking, but the forum flagged the post as spam?)

Is there factory wiring provision for a brake controller, or will I have to run that wiring to the previously mentioned 7-pin kit? I am totally comfortable with this, but would like to know ahead of time so I can order as much as possible at once? (My assumption is that I will have to run the wiring, but I want to verify)

Has anyone installed a Redarc brake controller to have any advice on the installaion of one?

Is there anything I am missing? Is there any reason to get the OEM tow bar instead of a Curt or similar?

Assuming you have a 2020 EX, then this is really simple. There is no 7-pin OEM harness option for you. Only 4-pin connector under the left rear of the Telluride. So to get a brake controller you have two options, go wireless and run the extra wires you need just to the hitch and or run the extra wires into the cab for the wired controller option. Regardless you can get the after-market 4-pin or the Kia OEM 4-pin to plug into the vehicle and that would require less splicing when you plug that into your 7-pin universal assuming it has a way to plug in the 4-pin flat connector.

You might want to consider AirLift Helper bags to help give you the ability to stiffen the suspension when towing some and increase the life of your standard shocks.

The OEM tow bar will also require a bumper insert into the 2020 bumper to make it look factory. If you go with the Curt or similar it hangs about 1-2 inches lower and you would just trim the plastic a little for the currently flat bumper insert.

Plenty of photos and suggestions on this forum if you use search and go back to old posts.
