• Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... 2020 Telluride AWD rear end jerking thumping and vibrating

Wow...time to invoke the Lemon Law? Getting a bit ridiculous for you and your vehicle. It’s like giving blood and they can’t find a vein....how many times are you going to stick me?😩

Well here's what you might not like to hear. My SX AWD is 2.5 months old, drives smooth at any speeds, and is super enjoyable, however while it didn't have the vibration issue from the beginning it definitely does now after several thousand miles. I hopped in the car for a drive the other day, I'm not the primary driver, got on the interstate and noticed vibration which I prayed was the road. Over the next couple of hours I pinned it down to 67 -- 68 -- 69 -- 70 -- 71 MPH with 68 being the most prominent.

With those that have had this issue fixed, can you in one message please write out what was replaced. I read some of you have had drive shaft and transfer case and others are still going down a path with various parts being replaced. There doesn't seem to be a confirmation though of what was replaced that fixed the issue, like a service statement with what actually fixed the problem. Thanks.

BMKT, I'm sorry to hear your troubles. Build date seems to be important. Any AWD built from mid-May on seem to be having the issues.

My story in a nut shell? First AWD LX (July build date), vibration day one. Dealer removed rear driveshaft on my suggestion after finding this thread. Vibration gone, but transfer case was humming. Metal found in fluid. I test drove three other AWDs. Same vibration problem. Dealer owner and shop manager told me I was mistaken. Returned my AWD and moved in to a FWD S. So far, so good.

Have they changed out your rear differential yet?
NO! In fact, I was told yesterday that "According to KIA Tech Line KIA Consumer Affairs is trying to coordinate a visit with a Field Tech Specialist to inspect the vehicle. This probably means that you will be contacted by KIA Consumer Affairs to coordinate this visit."

I am not sure what to expect - perhaps they will tell me that it is not that bad.......

Uh-oh

I’ve been seeing a lot of complaints about vibrations from drivetrain. Ours doesnt have any but we got lucky so far perhaps. Check here to start: NHTSA

CinTe, if you had taken my advice months ago and lemon the thing, you would have been stress free on this matter. But you continue to go down this endless path... I mean, you gotta know when to stop.
I wish it were that easy. For the Ohio Lemon Law to kick in, you need to meet certain requirements, such as having KIA try 3 times for the same exact problem. I am currently in "number three" and if that closes out without result, I will start the process. The next step starts with Autoline, which is a BBB mediation and arbitration process. Must do that before courts. This is spelled out state by state in the Warranty and Consumer Information Manual. Things may be different for your state.

Or, Cincy, have the dealer unwind your sale and refund whatever money you put in to the deal. You've been more than patient and reasonable. The dealer would likely rather accommodate you than fight you in court.

I undid my deal and swapped in to a FWD S. It was the same price as my POS AWD LX.

Hello everyone. Glad I found this forum. Test drove a SX awd this morning and noticed a vibration. Asked the sales rep about it and he pretty much said it was the first time he heard anyone mention it. I truly love the car, but not enough to spend 40k+ on a defect.

Did you happen to notice the build date?

No unfortunately I did not. I might take a visit back this Saturday and if I do I'll take a look.

Appears not that many kia's with that problem. Not like Honda and gas in the oil issues, nationwide problem. Still no solution from Honda on that one.

Started AAA Auto Line arbitration process as described in the Warranty book. I will ask for repurchase or perhaps replace for 2WD SX. I have worked on this for 4 months. The last service department has been wonderful but still no solution.

G: I believe there are many Telluride AWDs with the vibration problem. Most people are oblivious to the issue and likely assume it's a characteristic rather than a defect.

Even Kia and Hyundai (Pallisade) dealers are selling them without repair after being told by their techs the vehicles on their lots have the vibration.

Speaking from personal experience, my dealer had at least four defective AWDs on their lot - mine and three others.

The owner and service manager were playing dumb. They admitted mine had a bad rear driveshaft and transfer case. They took another out of service when trying to find me a good one. Another, the vibration was twice as bad. The fourth started with a hum and then the vibration came along, worse than my original truck.

So, a combination of oblivious owners (no offense, not everyone is mechanically inclined) and greedy dealers = the illusion this problem isn't widespread.

This problem seems to be affecting only a specific batch of production. Hence why there were 4 together in the lot.

The other AWD owners are not oblivious to such vibrations if it was really this obvious and this bad. I can say that my AWD and as reported by other AWD owners... is perfect.

Once this issue showed up I immediately paid extra attention on the highway at speeds between 65-75. It felt the same as if I was driving outside of that speed range. Zero vibrations. Not a wide spread issue.

Mid-May through at least August is not a small batch when this model was only released this year

I am now paranoid about this - thinking that every vibration I feel in the car (engine, road condition, engine growl from trucks and muscle cars around me) is coming from the driveshaft. For my peace of mind, would someone please explain: what does the driveshaft vibration feels like? Is it really noticeable? How do you tell if vibration is coming from the driveshaft and not from other sources?

Thanks.

If you want peace of mind don't buy a first-year model.
