Very nice! The trim looks exceptionally dark, which is awesome. Did you apply it to the trim as well? Here are the results of my DIY ceramic coating, for those following along with my previous post. I still have another 8 hours before it’s fully cured, but could resist getting her out in the sun for some photos.
I’m really impressed with the additional level of gloss achieved with this coating. White cars are the hardest to see reflections on... but as you can tell it really brought out the shine.

Yes, I did apply it to the trim. Although I was a bit surprised myself because I was essentially out of product at that point. I didn’t think it would turn out that dark... but I guess a little goes a long way.Very nice! The trim looks exceptionally dark, which is awesome. Did you apply it to the trim as well?
Amen to that! What are people doing if they want it to match the factory tint in the rear? I’m guessing it’s 20%... but not sure.Need to get your front windows tinted now!
Your tint person will know. They go a little darker since there is a lot of light that comes through the windshield.Amen to that! What are people doing if they want it to match the factory tint in the rear? I’m guessing it’s 20%... but not sure.
This past Saturday my dad and I installed a whole house water filter (sediment) and water softener. I also have a inline water filter on the hose before going into the pressure washer. I do not know if it was a placebo effect, but the paint looks better, and dried easier with no sign of water spots.
I bought this before I had our water tested for hardness.Perfect! The inline RV filter I use made a huge difference in making foam and how easily I can dry off the car now. I got the XL size for longer life:

Just bought two bottles of this stuff with the promo code and an entry level orbital polisher. I'm going to coat my rims, windows, and all of the trim on my Telluride.I just completed my first DIY ceramic coating using the Armor Shield IX kit. I decided to do it before the first wash right after we picked it up from the dealer to avoid having to paint correct the car first. This saved me a bunch of time as well has having to invest in a new dual action polisher (my current one is from Harbor Freight).
I’d say the overall process was very straight forward, as long as you follow the instructions they provide and watch the YouTube videos they email after purchasing the product. Here’s a few lessons learned:
1. I should have purchased 2 bottles of the ceramic coating. Each is 30ml and you need about 50ml to fully coat our Tellurides. I ended up skipping glass for now (will treat later).
2. You want to be pretty liberal when adding drops to the micro-suede applicator. The ceramic coating is very volatile and evaporates quickly if you dont move fast enough.
3. In 70+ degree weather like it is here in Houston, you only need to wait about 60 seconds for the product to ‘flash’ before lightly buffing it off. I started out waiting 2.5 minutes each time, but it was almost too dry at that point.
4. Buy a cheap squirt bottle for isopropyl alcohol. You need to give the car an IPA wipe down before applying the coating. I found it easiest to just pour some in a squirt bottle and use a clean microfiber for this step.
5. The key is to take your time and ensure even coverage on all panels. All in all I spent around 9 hours total doing the job. (This would be longer if you had to do paint correction first).
Otherwise it was very simple, and I feel so much more confident in ceramic coating now that I’ve done this myself. I would even argue that it’s much easier than traditional waxing since the product wipes off very easily. For only $50 (after promo code) and a couple long nights, you’ll get all the benefits of ceramic protection. However please note, as this is a DIY kit, the coating is only good for about 2 years whereas the professional grade ones have 5 year protections. Still... even if I have to do this again in 2 years its worth it.
Now all that’s left to do is kick back.... grab a beer... and wait about 48 hours for the ceramic coating to fully cure.
Pics to follow, once I can get it out in the sun!!
Nice! Can’t wait to see how it turns out. My trim is definitely a shade darker after using it.Just bought two bottles of this stuff with the promo code and an entry level orbital polisher. I'm going to coat my rims, windows, and all of the trim on my Telluride.
Will need to polish the glass before application that's why I'm finally jumping into compounding/polishing. Should be a fun ride.
Thank you for the detailed review!
Yes! I did and my results were great. I wrote a detailed review on page 13 or 14 of this thread. So you can go back and take a look at that if you want.has anyone used avalon king ceramic coating? just ordered for my telly!
Not a placebo. Soft water washes make a huge difference. I have softened hot and cold water running to a garage tap. It's the best - no spotting! This past Saturday my dad and I installed a whole house water filter (sediment) and water softener. I'm no expert, but foaming action and water spots are a fucntion of mineral content, and this filter won't remove hard water minerals.Perfect! The inline RV filter I use made a huge difference in making foam and how easily I can dry off the car now. I got the XL size for longer life:

You are correct. This filter is more suited for drinking. Deionized water is the best, Soft water is second. After doing the research on water softeners, 85% of the country has hard water.I'm no expert, but foaming action and water spots are a fucntion of mineral content, and this filter won't remove hard water minerals.
MN has crazy hard water. I make my own mineral water for espresso and my tap water tests at over 700 ppm TDS.
I want to thank everyone on this thread, Chemicals Guys and Ammo NYC for the first hand wash that I've done in 35 years. The Telluride looks better than the day I pick it up in October.
Tomorrow's task is to clay bar (or block in my case), a light polish (TORQ 10FX, green pad, VSS polish) and then hand apply Graphene Nano Coating Spray.
THANKS FOR ALL YOUR CAR DETAILING CONCEPTS
Not the best pic as my house was blocking the sun setting but you can definitely see the clean reflection in the doors.
