• Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... 2021 Telluride Detailing Thread

🤖 AI Summary

No AI summary has been generated for this thread yet.
Has anyone else performed a DIY ceramic coating on their Telly? I ordered the Armor Shield IX DIY kit, but now I’m not sure if 30ml is enough for the whole car. Fingers crossed it is, otherwise I’m only going to focus on the main panels (hood, fenders, doors, etc).

Also for anyone else that’s interested in this kit you can save $25 with promo code LEGIT. I found out about it from a YouTuber I watch called “LegitStreetCars.” He listed that promo code in one of his videos and it still works. Just purchased yesterday.

Let us (me) know how this goes on/looks and whether hard - easy to put on?

I’m ” thinking “ about “maybe” doing this a little later on. 😁

weather has been horrible here since we bought it. Was still only 5 degrees this morning but I had to get it cleaned up!

Looks like you stole my Telluride!
Here's mine shortly after buying. Figure it might never look this good again.
I did bring to a detailer for paint correction, wax and a ceramic sealant (not ceramic coated).
I plan on semi annual hand waxes with ceramic sealant boosters 2x per year. Will look into the 303 Graphene when I need more.

Used to have a buddy with a huge heated warehouse. Washed my car there several times a week thoughtout our looooooonnnnnnngggggg winters. I moved. Miss him and his wash bay!
Even with my heated garage, winter washing is a real PITA without floor drains (city ordinance - no garage floor drains allowed). But still did mine and mama's the other day.

I debadged my hood so I don't have to worry about washing/ waxing around those letters. And possibly adding some PPF. Anyone know if you can buy precut PFF for the Telluride yet?

I just polished my "B" and "C" pillars in preparation for the PPF being installed later this week.
FYI - 4 Pillars cost for PPF = $180. I found cheaper but my regular tint guy has always done quality work on all my vehicles including the front PPF on my Telluride.

The scratches and swirls were from (a) manufacturer, (b) the dealer washing the vehicle on delivery and (c) a "single" car wash when I forgot to select touchless.
Hand wash or touchless car wash ONLY from now on.

Zero prior experience with polishing a vehicle. I'm very pleased with the results (thanks Chemical Guys). Looks better than when I picked up my Telly from the dealer :) .

Tough to get a good pic to show all the marks but trust me, they were bad for a new vehicle.

BEFORE:
Long scratch on bottom of Pillar B (same on driver side) Pillar C - not as damaged as Front Pillars

Amazing results on your first go at polishing!!

Can you share the tools and polish you used?

TORQ 10FX Polisher from Chemical Guys (Dual Action - worked great)
4" pads

STEPS:
1st - Clay Block and Luber to clean surface
2nd - V36 compound with green pad to cut (remove scratches and swirls)
3rd - V38 polish with white pad

I'm looking for suggestions on a good portable vacuum (with hose) for cleaning the car that can be stored in a small compact area of a garage?
(I don't mean a small handheld or one that plugs into a lighter outlet)

Looks great man👍 The piano black pillars show every little swirl and hand print. I wish Kia would come up with something other than that piano black plastic.

Here are a couple of options. I have the red one and use an extension cord with it and it has worked well so far. It looks like the ArmorAll one has a little bit longer cord. I have mine mounted on the wall in the garage and barely notice it is there.

Thanks. That's exactly what I was looking for.

For those of you that use pressure washers, how do you use them? What psi is safe? Electric or gas powered?

Looks great👍

You want to target 1.8 - 2+gpm at roughly 1k PSI. Doesn't take much PSI to get a good wash the GPMs is more important.

Gas or electric is fine. Be careful with gas by nature they are stronger.

Check this out:

I learned a lot from his YT videos...never bought anything from him because he's overpriced like crazy!!!

Looks good! Look into gyeon can coat ceramic coating it you're looking into doing a maintenance coat about every 6 months. Just use their prep detailer spray before you apply it

I have a whole house central vacuum, with a connection in the garage. It is amazing to clean the vehicles.

Plus there is different nozzles to chose from depending on your needs. I use a green nozzle on my vehicles
