• Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... Spoke to Kia of Cary and once again they told me that 2021 will not be shipped to customers until Dec 2020 or later, dealer spoke to the Kia rep, and that is what they confirmed. So it remains foggy when 2021 would ship...

Woah...I really really hope your dealer is wrong. I don't see how any of that makes sense if there was an email sent out to some dealers, @StephenCantrelle in particular, stating that 2020's are going to mostly stopped being manufactured (with exception to a few), and that they would be changed over to 2021s this month. That means they'd go almost 5-6 months without making and shipping any Tellurides at all to dealers? Is this possible?

I completely agree with your point, but this is what they told me just 10 mins ago. There is no way for me to find out but to reach out to this helpful forum. There is a possibility that dealer is playing games with me their Yelp and DealerRater ratings support a chance of that, however sales guy I worked with seemed genuine and direct but then he could be misinformed. We should probably believe what other trusted dealers here are saying but for my case they probably booting me to December.

Sorry, I'm not trying to blast you or anything! They very well could be right. Honestly, if it wasn't for the couple of dealers that are on this forum, with how lack luster my dealer has been with communication, and KIA's overall poor communication with their dealers and customers, I'd have probably cancelled my order by now and went looking elsewhere.

No worries, I know we are all here to help each other. I am in the same boat as you are. I went looking at Subaru Ascent, VW Atlas and they are ridden with quality problems all over the product line. They were quiet on the highway though. Tellurides are far from perfect too but it seems they do not have massive issues like Subaru or VW...
Nissan and Toyota are very noisy on the highways for long trips. 2020 Highlander is the loudest vehicle I have ridden in the past 4 years, at 65 mph we cannot have a normal conversation in the car, whistle, wind rushing, tire noises, you name it, and it is in the Limited package that sells for $50K... Toyota no longer cares, they sell all that they make because of their quality reputation.

Well - you can go with what they are telling you or go with @StephenCantrelle showed us direct from KIA. I for one am going to go with what was shown us direct from KIA. That communication says 2021's are going into production at the end of June. That means new 2021 Tellurides will start arriving at dealerships between July and August. Now maybe - the waiting list is so long at KIA of Cary that if you ordered one - you might not get one until December - and they are trying to manage expectations. When cars start arriving at dealerships from the factory and when a special order you put in today are going to be very different dates.

I spoke to the dealer again, yes, I am sensing it is a dealer playing their game. They need to sell their 2020 allocation which they are getting a lot of. Kia does not allow them to place 2021 orders. I think high volume dealers are spared from that restriction and are probably 2021 instead. Dealer for 2nd time told me to cancel my order for 2020 and wait until they can order 2021. Now I see why they are telling me Dec.

When did you make your deposit and place your order?

To put you at ease the dealer is not lying to you. My order was put in with them almost 2 months before you and I'll be lucky to get ours this month. You're in good hands, highest volume dealer in the state. Let the process take its course. 2021s won't even start production til July the earliest unless Covid-19 and/or national civil unrest has something to say about it.

Thank you. Got it. 2021 would not matter to me but heater + remote on remote is a big deal. I drove in Honda Pilot in the middle of Jan from Raleigh to Northern Woods of WI and while heater worked full blast at 70 mph my wife was cold. Same trip in GMC Yukon next year and heater was running normal and it was just super comfy. I do not want to risk it with Telluride not being warm enough on those Northern Woods trips.

Latest update

We ordered our Telluride in March for a pickup date of May 1st. When then got a call and said the pickup date was moved to June 9th. Today I got a call that the vehicle was deleted. The believe that the are stopping production of the 2020's and moving to the 2021's. The dealership told me they would sell me the 2021 at the same price that I had put the deposit down for the 2020. I hope this is true and they begin production on them in June. That would be awesome! We have been waiting since March to get one.

Received a similar call today myself. Are you in Boston area?

Your timeline and interaction with your dealer seem to be consistent with others here.

Yes..hopefully all will play out as expected.
Never imagined it could be this difficult to spend 47k on a vehicle!!

Hope 2021 solves the minor glitches of people complaining in forums.

Hey wanted to give you guys an update. As you can see on the above post I made we ordered our 2020 Telluride in March. Was originally supposed to be here in May. It was pushed back twice. I just received a call from the Dealership that my 2020 was replaced with a 2021 and will be arriving July 15th. Super excited and can not wait to see what it looks like and drive it home!
