• Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... 2022 Telluride hard seats?

We completed in June a 6 week 5500 mile trip through the Pacific NW towing our Lance 1685 camper. Due to hard seats my wife had purchased a thick orthopedic cushion to use. Once seated and driving the Air Bag sensor would be compromised (not on). To remedy that my wife would pick her backside up off the seat momentarily till the light went off and then sit back normally. It appears to be a way to trick the system to work (we hope). The heat and cooling would not be effective on the bottom, but does work on the seat back.

BTW the Telly towed flawlessly. The CAT scales showed us at just above the 5000 tow limit and well under the max combined weight. We have a weigh distribution hitch with antisway which moves a lot tongue weight forward. I usually kept it about 60 mph max on highways. Mileage towing was 11-12 mpg.

I have a 2022 Telluride and really like it but the seats seem to be too hard during longer drives.. Anyone experience the same problem?
I have a 2023 pro line, I HATE these seats. I am looking at trading in the Telluride. Not only is it the lower portion but the back part of the seat is very narrow, and has what feels like metal “wings” that jab into the side of my back. I am only 5’8”, this shouldn’t be an issue.

After 17k+ miles, the pain seems to go away on 1hr+ drives. Either the leather got softer or I‘ve gain a little meat on my butt, lol….

Yes. The seats are very uncomfortable on long trips.
I would have to say that is a very subjective thing. I've sat in my car for up to 12 hours driving down the East Coast and my seats being hard was never something that crossed my mind. Are they harder than the cloth seats in my base 2013 Explorer, sure, but not to the point of being uncomfortable. But again, that is subjective.

If you want hard seats, find a base model 2008 Honda CRV. It is like a park bench with cloth stretched across it.

Just did just over 1,000 miles in 15 hours yesterday as part of a 2,500-mile trip... along with a 7,000-mile 8-week trip earlier this year and think the seats are fine. It's the armrest and center console cover that need some additional padding.

Here’s a cure for the hard center console. Very well made, easy to install and adds a nice touch to the interior.

These seats are brutally hard. 😖 Of course, I am coming from a 2008 BMW 535i and paid extra for the sports seats. BMW nails the firmness, yet comfortable seat bolstering. I know the ventilated seats are the culprit. Come on KIA! If anyone finds seat cushions that allow ventilation through and is happy with the support please share in the thread. Sure any ol' seat cushion could work, but these Florida summers are super toasty, and would love more support.

I bought something like this to put in the back in the storage but haven’t needed yet. May be the leather got softer. when buying these things, make sure to check the sizes. you want one that covers the whole seat if possible and thin enough but still works. Too small and thick will make you float on the seat.

I ended up buying the SelectSoma gel seat cushion. Only did a few errands with the wifey and we both agree they are a wonderful improvement to the seats. It's about 1 1/2" tall so you sit up a little higher. It even makes the overall ride a bit softer too which is a nice added bonus. Found on Amazon.

UPDATE: The SelectSoma gel seat cushion for the driver's side works like a charm. However, the front passenger seat with the SelectSoma gel seat cushion triggers the "Passenger Airbag OFF" light which is not good. I need to find a solution for my wife if I am driving and she is the passenger. If I am the passenger, I trick the system by sitting in on the seat briefly with no cushion underneath me (with the engine turned on) and I quickly hoist myself up and yank the seat cushion into place. Voila ! Passenger Airbag OFF light does not illuminate. If my wife tries this cheat, it doesn't work. It must be the weight difference between the two of us;). If anyone has a solution, I'd love to hear it.

I think it’s not the Napa leather as much as the a/c ducting in the vented seat that causes the seemingly extra firmness in the prestige package…

which seat model did you buy exactly? thanks

I am a new user so I don't think this message board allows me to post links. Just go to Amazon and search for "SelectSoma Large Gel Seat Cushion for Desk Chair". I got the Large one since the seats are pretty wide.

Does that seat cushion work with the heated and ventilated seats? I just got the car and am pretty disappointed by the seat hopefully a cushion works

The air does pass through, but not as strong a flow as no cushion at all of course.

Yes! I wish they had more cushion. They are extremely firm and my tailbone hurts after riding. I love everything else about the vehicle, but man, I need a pillow!

I recently purchase a 2022 EX model. I'm debating to trade it in, but not sure. Did you still have yours?
