• Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... I ordered from eBay…it did not include the instructions like the descriptions said but I found a pdf posted on this forum. Best deal I could find that looked legitimate.

Any updates on when an oem towing harness might be available for a 2023?
I found this and I'm curious what more knowledgeable people might think of it. Does not require any splicing...

This looks really great! I am new here... got my SX-X line last week and only then discovered the whole hitch thing... speechless...

Just to confirm - is the part S9F61-AU002? I saw some earlier post that the OEM hitch doesn't totally fit, maybe it was referring to S9F61-AU000..

Will try to get this in and install..
Curious with the peanut gallery thinks of this. Does not require any splicing so would not void warranty

We took delivery of our 2023 SX Line after deciding on this model over the Ex liking the tow mode and the self leveling feature. we told the sales rep at the dealer that we would be towing a boat with this SUV. When it was delivered without a hitch I later found out that KIA was not releasing any hitches and had no information regarding availability of the wiring. I called KIA customer service and could not get any information regarding a release date of hitch or wiring. I just read a note from a contributor regarding a successful add of a e-trailer hitch but there was no mention of how the lack of a wiring harness was dealt with. SO, I'm looking for any information that would indicate availability of both hitch or wiring, or, any additional info on after market hitch and wiring solutions.
Thanks in advance for any help!

Sailor too

Trying to catch up on this thread. I took delivery last week of '23 EX X-Line. Got the same story from dealer that they don't have the parts for hitch install but they work with a local aftermarket hitch installer, so they would take care of it before I picked up the vehicle. Sure enough they got the hitch installed, but it only came with 4-pin flat connector. I need 7-pin to haul pop up camper.

I talked directly to the installer of the hitch to make an appt to add a 7-pin connector, but what I'm trying to find out now is what exactly I have with the tow package with the x-line. I'm assuming I will still need an external brake controller? Does the wiring for this already exist with the tow package? I want to be able to have this information before I talk to the hitch installer so I know what I'm getting into. Thanks for any help!

I ordered one of those but ended up using the unbranded converter that came with my stealth hitch. The Tekonsha seems like a really great option. My only concerns were 1) will the sensors fit behind the brake lights, because if not, getting to the wires behind the interior panel is a pain in the neck, and 2) probably an unlikely concern, but since the led tail lights use little current, will the sensors reliably sense the current?

That said, if I had to do it again, I'd try installing the Toknsha zero contact instead.

I finally got my $1,200 back from the dealer for hitch parts that do not exist. It is still hard for me to digest the idea that the salesman scammed me into paying for parts that do not exist in order to close the deal (he could see that I was not going to buy without a hitch). He still says he did not know the parts are not available even though the information is readily available on the Internet including here.

BTW, neither Kia Corp nor the local sales manager made any apparent effort to resolve the issue even though I reported it to both. Customer satisfaction does not appear to be a high priority in Kia. I am not looking forward to a long relationship with them.
I agree.

I purchased a 2023 Kia X-pro which is made specifically for towing and cannot get a hitch. The dealer deliberately deceived me and Kia is criminal for false advertising. I will never buy another Kia! They don't understand that they are ruining their reputation!

It’s not the wiring that’s a problem it’s the tailgate latch. The tailgate has been known to pop open on a tear end hit on Tellurides equip with a hitch. They were told to no hitch’s until they redesign a new latch….Hitch’s will be on the 24 Model coming out in late July

Eventually Kia will come out with a hitch right? Any idea when? I ordered an SX XLINE a couple days ago. Hoping it comes with a hitch.

Choosy, when did your dealer predict your new order will arrive? Our Telluride arrived 3 weeks ago sans hitch after an 8 month wait. My dealer estimated the trailer hitch situation will be resolved sometime around September. I plan to install the 2022 hitch without wiring harness next week, part S9F61-AU002. It is the wiring harness recall that is causing the issue and delay which I do not need immediately. Others have already installed this part on their 2023s. I will post what I find out.

Dealer told me shouldn’t be more than 6 months but we’ll see. I don’t need a hitch right away so it’s not really a deal breaker for me. Just hope they eventually figure it out. Thanks for the info.

I just tried a Curt wiring plug-in harness that fit the 2022 Telluride. But when my auto shop tried to install it, the repair guy said there is no plug-in receptacle where it's supposed to be under the Telluride dash.

So there's current no way any wiring harness will work.

When I was in the process of buying my 2023 Telluride in January, the salesperson told me "We owe you a wiring harness." So he knew about the lack of one and was forthright about it. But no one had any idea when they would be available.

I guess I have to keep my 2017 Sorento now instead of selling it until this gets resolved.

When you say under the dash I presume that means for the wires electronic brake controller. Did the installer tell you which wires in the 7-way round work? For example, do the basic 4-wire flat function work? (Left, right, running, stop)? If so you could use the 2022 harness with an adapter to get 4-way right away and if the pin for power is hot you could use an echo wireless brake controller. If no power nor cabin wire but all others work you could run to an auto resetting breaker and tap that into the harness. You would basically be in the same boat as the 2020 owners but with an easier way to get an OEM 7-way to work.

I did install the hitch install myself-saved $350 in labor according to a dealership that quoted the install. There is a about an 1/8” gap before you torque the bolts so that it has an easy fit up. torquing the bolts in the prescribed sequence in the instructions will close the gap up. they intentionally have you torque the smaller 7/16” bolts first to set one side snug to the frame as the larger M12 bolts flex the hitch frame to close the gap on the other side when they are at full torque.

Interesting…. can you tell us where you saw this info posted about the 2024s coming in July?

I have a tough time believing this is the cause for the delays without more context and references. Not a single person on this forum, that I have seen, has complained about the latch not working properly. Is it it only the power liftgate latch or what about the non powered ones? I struggle with accepting that Kia would be holding back the ability to tow officially because of a latch issue that is going under reported.

Allegedly an official letter was supposed to go out to 2023 owners in April/May explains the lack of towing options. Anyone get a copy of the letter that they can share?
