If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... 2024 Telluride Recall -- ENGINE REPLACEMENT !!

Not being able to use your car is a money loser too. Not like I keep spares.
I really like the Telluride but may be my last, glad I leased. Will be watching to see how Kia handles this situation. Funny thing is I drove Acura MDX,s for the last 20 plus years with absolutely no problems, thought I’d try. something else for a change.
I hear ya, just throwing an answer out there. Yes, it will be very interesting to see how this plays out, along with the roll away recall, they will need to do well to retain customers (and sell new ones, prices are dropping).

I purchased my car new in mid August 2023. I went on the NHTSA site with my vehicle ID # which showed no recall. Is that possibly because the NHTSA has not yet been notified or is it accurately showing no recall for my particular car? At least I'm in the clear for the Sept-December production dates.

I was planning on purchasing another 2024 Telly, but have decided against it. i'm just crossing my fingers that my current Telly holds up.

New owner here too... the dealership notified us that our 3 week old Telluride needs a new engine. I also called Kia and explained I received the payment information yesterday and my 1st payment is not due for 25 days, why would I need to have the engine replaced versus receiving a replacement for knowingly being sold a lemon. They told me to wait up to 2 weeks to find out if anything can be done. We're waiting. This was our first KIA. Depending on the outcome, it may be our last. I'm sick over this. I can't imagine waiting months for a repair.

Sorry for your trouble, of course its not optimal and I sincerely sympathize with you but... its not a lemon, (unless you can later document xxx amount of days in a shop for repair, depends on your state). On the bright side, replacing your engine is a relatively simple procedure once they have the new engine and your car in the shop. Kia is owning up to the issue with full engine replacement versus attempted repair of select components and you'll be sent down the road with a brand new engine. We would all love to hear how your repair goes so please keep us updated on how YOUR dealership addresses the repair, i.e. time to schedule, time taken to repair, loaner car, extension of warranty if any etc. This is a new problem and your experience will help many others manage their expectations as they deal with this recall at THEIR dealership. There is no way they will just swap you out a new car for yours unless and until you've completed the Lemon Law process for your state, it's just not how it's done.

It's a lemon. Do you work for KIA or something? It's 100% a lemon. They sold me a lemon too. Also you are giving bad advice.

They will swap it out, you have to contact KIA and present your case. It's called a Kia BuyBack. So please just stop spreading misinformation.

Lol ok, let us lknow how smoothly your “swap” goes.
I would have just called and swapped if I were you instead of wasting time posting here. You seem to have the inside track, hey @everyone with a engine recall just call Kia it’s called a buyback duh 😂

This morning I get an email saying there is a recall for my 2024 KIA Telluride.
Called KIA customer care and they tell me its "engine related" and recalls are being sent out with repairs starting April 15. Curious, I call the dealer and speak with service. He looks up the recall and tells me that the entire engine and several other components need to be replaced. Evidently this affects every Telluride built in Sept - Nov 2023. The root cause is faulty manufacturing parts from suppliers.

After hearing that, I call Kia Customer Care, call them on their bull and say I want a New Telluride versus having all that work done on a brand new 4 month old vehicle with 700 miles. She immediately transferred me to "expedited care" and I was given a case # and will be assigned a customer care rep in 5 days.

I'm sure you all agree having that amount of work done on a brand new vehicle is ridiculous. I'm going to fight this as much as i can. Maybe even lawyer up.
It gets even worse. The dealer cannot even start ordering parts until the Telluride is physically on their property and they will not give me a loaner since it will likely take weeks or even months to get everything in. Kia customer care told me I can pay for a rental and submit a "request" to have that repaid. Nope. I will get it in writing for rental.

This should be in the news soon. I've never heard of something so ridiculous.
Going to start drinking early today!

Grrrrrrrrrrrr.......................
Just happened to me. Haven’t had it 2 months and the WHOLE ENGINE needs to be replaced?
I brought it in almost 2 weeks ago, they gave me a loaner. I came in today to exchange the loaner and they don’t even have the parts yet.
I’m am f&$%ing pissed to say the least.

I'm not wasting any time here 🤷‍♂️ , just trying to help some people out who are getting fed bad information. I did call and swap, it's a whole process you have to open up a case, it takes 1-2 months. Still in the process.

So you’re saying it has to be in the shop for X amount of days to qualify as a lemon per the Lemon Laws of your state…..like I said.

I had this happen with another manufacturer and was without my car for over 2 months. I had a loaner so I didn’t mind. It sucks, but at the end of the day it was fixed. I didn’t let it ruin my day or life. Sometimes things are just out of your control.

No - I'm not saying any of that - you said that. Kia offers a buyback option if they deem your case to be worthy of a buyback.

They are going to buyback your engine and give you a brand new one. Please stop spreading misinformation on this thread, you created your own thread for that, do you work for Toyota or something? :D I would think your “swap” would be done by now.

What? Now I'm completely lost.

I’ll explain it to you…..again… your vehicle had to have been out of service for X amount of days (state dependent) before it qualifies as a lemon. They WILL NOT swap you a new vehicle because you complain.

This has nothing to do with lemon law, this is called a "Kia BuyBack" it's through KIA's corporate center. You're confused lol.

You are NOT getting a buyback. ZERO CHANCE. What you hope and what will happen are miles apart and you don’t want to hear anything but fantasy.
